Ted Cruz is right (about debate)

We all know Ted Cruz is right, as in politically right of center, and I mean really right.

But he's also right about his latest proposal leading up to Monday's voting in Iowa.

The Texas senator says he wants to debate Donald Trump one-on-one, and he means right now.

Now that would be worth paying for, as in pay-per-view. Or, perhaps to lure The Donald in, find a sponsor willing to donate all proceeds to wounded veterans' groups since that's what Trump said Fox should do with money it would make off a scheduled Thursday night debate that he, Trump, now says he intends to skip.

Cruz is right two ways. First, he and Trump appear to be the only game in town in the Hawkeye State. Current averages of multiple polls maintained by Real Clear Politics show Trump leading with 33 percent, Cruz second with 27 percent and nobody else in the 11-person field anywhere close.

(For Rick Santorum fans who remember Rick won Iowa last time around, the former Pennsylvania senator's current average is one percent, but he polled at zero in the latest Iowa Quinnipiac poll.)

So a Cruz-Trump-only debate would really give Iowa voters a clear sense of what they're investing in.

But Cruz is also right in suggesting they debate without moderators. I'd add they should do so without a live audience.

That way there'd be a better chance to see who actually knows anything rather than just seeing who can rile a crowd.

I’d pay good money to see that.

Any candidate who debates another, publicly, outside of the RNC-sanctioned debates, is barred from the rest of the RNC debate schedule.

It would be a good debate, and I applaud Cruz for pissing in the RNC corn flakes, but there is no upside for Trump.

That’s better than serving as a puppet in the dog & pony show for Fox where they will be questioned by muslim activists and illegal immigrant stars from youtube.

Trump sees his poll numbers and decides its safe to avoid debates, and to now talk about how well he gets along with Pelosi and other Dems and how they will work together.

If he doesn’t show up tomorrow he certainly wont debate Cruz 1 on 1

We're all being put up for suckers (except TRUMP) for being swindled by the Networks and advertisers to continue this debate-a-thon where you don't LEARN ONE THING!

Trump will run away like a scared little girl. If a blowhard like Rosie O’Donnell and the Megyn Kelly question sends him over the edge in Twitter tantrum, he’s going to have a problem dealing with real tough issues.

Ted got bad advice from his ‘typical political consultants’ to take on TRUMP personally and directly!

He should’ve continue to drill his own message. Period!

He didn’t learn from the past 6 months.... ANYONE who takes on TRUMP... LOSES! PERIOD!

"Trump will run away like a scared little girl."

You really believe other people's BS take on it?... or is it just crazy 'wishful thinking' on your part?

Meggie said last night that Trump can’t control the media.
However, he did that and completely controlled her. The MSM just isn’t used to anyone fighting back. Better get used to it.

“The Texas senator says he wants to debate Donald Trump one-on-one, and he means right now.”

Why?

If Cruz is the better guy, then get your ass out to Iowa and campaign. Why does Ted rely so much on these things? Does he think the entire general election will be tv debates?

Ted’s a great debater. But we’re not selecting a head debater here. He has no experience in his background to be president. Trump has the management and negotiating skills that are needed.

Trump should accept his debate challenge though. After Cruz proves he’s qualified to be president.

RE: WE DON’T NEED MORE BS ‘CAGE-MATCH’ DEBATES!!!!!!

Why think of it as a “Cage Match”?

Think of it as debating about the ISSUES that face this country 2016 and beyond and who has the better temperament and solutions to the problems we face., between two of the leading candidates of the Republican party.

Sheesh, we’re now thinking of it in terms of reality TV.

Ditto.

So far there have been no debates. Just a dozen or so candidates jockeying with media celebrity “moderators” for five second sound bites. I would love to see an actual debate between Trump and Cruz.

Schoolyard bully got popped in the nose by a girl...he can’t be bested by a girl!

Dont take my word for it...look at what his own wives have said:

“The little boy that still wants attention”, said Marla Maples, his second wife.

“He wants to be noticed,” said Ivana Trump, wife No. 1, who recalled sending him into a fit of rage by skiing past him on a hill in Aspen, Colo. Mr. Trump stopped, took off his skis and walked off the trail. “He could not take it, that I could do something better than he did,” she said.

Trump doesn’t need Cruz or Fox to attract a crowd.

Have fun being in the hot seat Edwardo...

At this point it's clear that the race is between Trump and Cruz. The voters would be better served if they had a chance to measure the two against each other without the annoying chattering of the Carsons and the Fiorinos and the Bushes and the Pauls. So have the one-on-one and let the two be banned from the kid's table.
