Statement of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis - It's a Heaven or Hell decision.
Liberty Counsel ^ | September 1, 2015 | Kim Davis

Posted on 09/04/2015 1:36:53 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Kim Davis released the following statement a few days ago:

I have worked in the Rowan County Clerk’s office for 27 years as a Deputy Clerk and was honored to be elected as the Clerk in November 2014, and took office in January 2015. I love my job and the people of Rowan County. I have never lived any place other than Rowan County. Some people have said I should resign, but I have done my job well. This year we are on track to generate a surplus for the county of 1.5 million dollars.

In addition to my desire to serve the people of Rowan County, I owe my life to Jesus Christ who loves me and gave His life for me. Following the death of my godly mother-in-law over four years ago, I went to church to fulfill her dying wish. There I heard a message of grace and forgiveness and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I am not perfect. No one is. But I am forgiven and I love my Lord and must be obedient to Him and to the Word of God.

I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God’s definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience. It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience. I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will. To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is about marriage and God’s Word. It is a matter of religious liberty, which is protected under the First Amendment, the Kentucky Constitution, and in the Kentucky Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Our history is filled with accommodations for people’s religious freedom and conscience. I want to continue to perform my duties, but I also am requesting what our Founders envisioned – that conscience and religious freedom would be protected. That is all I am asking. I never sought to be in this position, and I would much rather not have been placed in this position. I have received death threats from people who do not know me. I harbor nothing against them. I was elected by the people to serve as the County Clerk. I intend to continue to serve the people of Rowan County, but I cannot violate my conscience.

This is asking an officer of the law to disregard the law and do the whims of the ruling class.

This came into my mind this morning. Thanks for posting it. Every individual is going to have to make a choice on this. Our government already has and I think their decision has sealed this nation’s fate. All Christians need to make the decision of whether to bow to this abomination or stand against it as Kim Davis has done.

Many churches have opted to take the route of equivocating what the Bible says with trite, candy coated reasons why we should go along with this. It is indeed a Heaven or Hell decision that all Christians in this country are going to have to make and soon.

“We all know where this is heading, Pastors and Priests who refuse to officiate same sex weddings and churches that refuse to hold SS weddings. Imprisonment, loss of tax status, loss of job or business. Now we get to stand with our Lord and I say, “yes Lord, hallelujah!”

The Mark of the Beast, preventing those who don’t have it in their hands or heads from working, and providing for themselves and their families that is spoken of in Scripture begins to become clearer doesn’t it.

Christians will soon be prevented from any freedoms if they don’t embrace this abomination. Bless you Kim Davis!

Actually, the very items you point out are the WHY he held her in contempt, because if he did the other two...We the People would have had a platform against an out of control judiciary

“And just so there’s no mistake here, if her position was “I follow the laws of the State of Kentucky and the federal incursion is unlawful under the 9th Amendment”, that I would have her back on. That is a lawful position for a government employee to take.”

I think you have missed the fact that this particular discussion isn’t related to any man made laws, whether of Kentucky or the Federal Government. Perhaps you missed the meaning of the phrase “It’s a Heaven or Hell decision.”

Had a thought the other day. What if there was a socialist world state where everyone worked for the govt and you could not buy or sell unless you were part of that and adhered to it’s edicts?

So you are saying you never read the Bible?

John 4:7-26: The Samaritan woman at the well. She had FIVE husbands before she repented. Apparently this woman had four and then she repented and became Christian.

“The State’s position is Satanic. Why would a genuinely devout person continue to serve such a master...?”

How do you propose to change the State if your solution is for Christians to quit their government jobs?

Do you think non-Christians are going to turn the “Satanic” government into a Christian one?

That’s an EXCELLENT take on this. I’d go further to push to the fore what it seems has NOT been made a featured point in this discussion: Kim Davis, and every other Clerk in Kentucky, has no new codified working parameters until the KY State Legislature enacts them. She’s — essentially — being shaken over Hell on the end of a rotted stick because she’s refused to “wing it”; deferring, instead, to the Legislature, as well she should.

She can’t be fired, but can she quit?

Yes, she can. Someone pointed out that if she did resign, then the court would have to order her to be released because at that point, she'd no longer be capable of carrying out her duties (because she HAD resigned).

I’m sure a petition or other action would have to be filed in order for the court to make those decisions. Sheesh.

Let me make this perfectly clear

1) Courts
2) do not have the authority
3) to order impeachment proceedings or special elections.

Only the legislature can impeach and only the Secretary of State in conjunction with the Governor can order a special election. Sheesh.

There were good WWII German soldiers “just doing their job”, using that excuse to allow atrocities - they were part of the problem. This woman is doing the right thing and taking heat for it. I support her too!

Not connected specifically to one synagogue, more of a general path — Chabad-Lubavitch. The Rebbe, of blessed memory always felt that gays may have biochemical & other issues. I wish the current Jewish leadership were as vocal as the Christian.

I’m not Jewish, but interested in Chabad. I studied a lot of spiritual paths, before finding Chabad is the truth, the answer, and the way.

I get your thinking, but disagree vehemently with your conclusions.

When you sit down in a quiet room and first consider that we were founded as a Judeo Christian country and the morality formed the basis of our founding documents, and then juxtapose that with a run of the mill county government job.....Treasurer!

Now ask yourself if there is something amiss when a Christian who has done that job for 27 years, suddenly and without much warning, can no longer do it for moral and religious reasons.

Should not any Christian or person of faith be able to any job in this country short of military service where one might be forced to kill.????

To add to this, her freedom to worship and be a Christian without fear of persecution is a established constitutional protection! “Shall Make No Law”!!!!! Shall!!! NO! INFRINGE!

Kim Davis is in jail as part of the left wing conspiracy to destroy the Constitutional rights American Citizens enjoy from the time of our Christian forefathers signing the Bill of Rights.
The liberal and rino communist politicians and their minions are destroying freedom of religions, freedom of speech and freedom to redress government for grievance. The dems and rinos hate freedom and want American citizens in slavery.
