Rick Perry: Trump Is Unfit to Lead the Military, ‘Should Immediately Withdraw’ from Race
Mediaite ^ | 07/18/2015 | Joshua Riddle

Lots of Donald Trump‘s Republican presidential candidates have already shredded him for his comments about John McCain, but Rick Perry came out swinging by calling for Trump to basically GTFO.

In case you missed it, the draft-defering Trump attacked McCain today over his war hero status because, “He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”

Now, for some unbelievable reason, lots of conservatives including the aforementioned candidates thought Trump crossed a line.

Perry was the first to release a statement on The Donald’s latest rambling, this one really going for the jugular (emphasis his):

Donald Trump should apologize immediately for attacking Senator McCain and all veterans who have protected and served our country. As a veteran and an American, I respect Sen. McCain because he volunteered to serve his country. I cannot say the same of Mr. Trump. His comments have reached a new low in American politics. His attack on veterans make him unfit to be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and he should immediately withdraw from the race for President.

For the record, when Trump was asked if he plans to apologize, he said no.

More of a “refused to” rather than a “couldn’t have” thing with La Raza Rick.

‘.”.... Rick Perry can’t seal the Texas border,...”

Watch Perry’s words...carefully selected......Rick Perry never says he’ll close the border...not ever...he says he will “secure” the border...and that is to better control the workforce in his Industrial parks...he has no intentions of closing the border.

Neither will Trump.

This is letting me know who I cannot vote for. Sadly, it is becoming a long list.

These so called Republicans will bash Trump but nary a word about Obama. F them all. I am done with the Republican Party.

Military issues aside, as much as lawless Obama has lowered the bar on what it takes to be president, I find this qualification nit-picking between “Republican” candidates to be disingenuous.

Has Trump or Perry likewise criticized Obama?

Regarding the federal government’s very limited constitutional authority to decide policy on intrastate issues, between Trump, Perry and Obama, the key question is which of them could best handle driving a US Mail delivery truck (1.8.7)?

In this case, there is NO WAY to defend Trump’s gaffe.

Trump had better get into major Damage Control and Apologize Profusely for what he said. If he doesn’t get on top of this IMMEDIATELY, it will be a Millstone around his neck and that will be that.

The shame is that this will dominate the Liberal Press and it will take attention away from the things that Trump has been saying about the Illegal Invaders and the Economy.

I cant wait until the Press attacks Senator Cruz for agreeing with Trump’s stances on Immigration.

““He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.””

I agree with Trump on this one. The only reason that McCain was a hero was because DADDY was an Admiral in the Pacific fleet.

The other prisoners were simply lower class common folk...not worthy of the praise and wonderful “Johnny comes marching home again” parades and such.

McCrazy was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and never really lived as a commoner or a lower class working man.

TRUMP WAS EXACTLY RIGHT!

Where did I say he should apologize? I just imagine all the sucking up to poor little Juan that will be happening on tv on Monday. Or maybe tomorrow! Chuck Todd will have to hold his hand. And imagine how Lindsay will cry.

At one point, I did have a good opinion of Perry even because of his “heartless” comments. I even explained away his senile-ish performance in the one debate in which he still had a chance to convince more people of his efficacy.

There is, however, any band aid he can put on this comment to make it all better. He’d be better off just shutting the hell up and going away. Former Texas Governor or not, there’s something wrong with him.

You hit the nail on the head. The party willfully undercut the Ron Paul faction and the Tea Party in 2012. They are doing the same to people who have been motivated by Trump’s no-holds barred campaign this summer. Then they are surprised when they lose. Instead of finding ways to invite people into the party, they are willing to f-— everyone to retain power. If Jeb is the candidate, I am 3rd Party. Period. This has to end, and these people have to be jettisoned from the party so we can start over with a winning culture.

The man is playing conservatives for a bunch of suckers.

Yup. Trump has no ideological history of being a conservative. None. He is whatever he needs to be at the moment in time to get what he wants. Right now he is playing the caricature of a conservative, throwing red meat out to the grass roots. When he crosses the line and says something completely appalling like “He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”, he is forgiven by many of the same people that believed in frauds like Herman Cain. I don't like John McCain at all, but these sorts of comments by Trump are completely slimy.

Trump will implode, he will not be the nominee. The sad thing is watching so many conservatives get suckered by yet another self promoting con artist.

“His attack on veterans “

I fail to see that. He spoke of McCain not all veterans. You’re being a drama queen here Mr Perry.

So I’m guessing he and his erstwhile campaign of today is having much difficulty in dispelling the notion that his is the “Insane Clown Posse” candidacy.

Governor Perry would be better advised to concentrate on the real problem for the American Military--a President who after months of increasingly virulent targeting of our men at arms, still has many serving as targets in "gun free zones." This refusal to immediately recognize the obvious danger is so beyond something that could be justified by mere stupidity; that it should arouse the anger of every loyal American. The success of one fanatic gun man in killing Marines and Naval personnel, the other day, puts this sickening policy into a correct perspective.

As for McCain? Part of me wants to merely chalk up his alliance with those who seek to undermine the traditional culture of the Founding Fathers, to hardened arteries; one wants to say that he suffered in Viet Nam, and probably drinks too much to handle recurring nightmares. But would either problem really excuse his position on immigration, or the whipped cur approach to his debates with the Obamanist in 2008?

If Trump never served in the military, that is a fair criticism. But it does not excuse Trump's critics, who seem oblivious to their Constitutional duties. Stand up to Obama on his deliberate, clear and present threats to our military; or shut up and stop pretending to the role of patriots.
