Rick Perry: Trump Is Unfit to Lead the Military, ‘Should Immediately Withdraw’ from Race
Mediaite ^ | 07/18/2015 | Joshua Riddle

Lots of Donald Trump‘s Republican presidential candidates have already shredded him for his comments about John McCain, but Rick Perry came out swinging by calling for Trump to basically GTFO.

In case you missed it, the draft-defering Trump attacked McCain today over his war hero status because, “He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”

Now, for some unbelievable reason, lots of conservatives including the aforementioned candidates thought Trump crossed a line.

Perry was the first to release a statement on The Donald’s latest rambling, this one really going for the jugular (emphasis his):

Donald Trump should apologize immediately for attacking Senator McCain and all veterans who have protected and served our country. As a veteran and an American, I respect Sen. McCain because he volunteered to serve his country. I cannot say the same of Mr. Trump. His comments have reached a new low in American politics. His attack on veterans make him unfit to be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and he should immediately withdraw from the race for President.

For the record, when Trump was asked if he plans to apologize, he said no.

But do I trust him? Not for a New York minute.

You trust Jeb?

The only ones I really trust are Cruz and Jindal. But if it’s Trump vs Jeb, Go Trump!

Hey Rick - instead of attempting to censor Trump, why not convince us of the incorrectness of what he's saying?

I'm sick of speech & thought controlling runt tyrant politicians.

Trump has it basically right: McCain deserves scorn.

That statement didn't just scorn McCain; it scorned all POWs. How would you react if Hillary or Obama said that?

You think Trump should apologize? Crazy McCain is proud of being captured, for heaven's sake. If Rick Perry wants to sound smart, he should just not say anything, since that would be the smart thing for him to do.

Don't you LOVE that McCain, who called Trump supporters "crazies" and Cruz a "looney bird" is being put in his place by Trump?

McCain, the pilot who started a fire on his carrier that fried some of his messmates by hotdogging is tailpipe. McCain the low man in his Annapolis class.

The RNC honchos are going bananas. Trump has them by their short hairs and is yanking them back towards reality. Its driving them nutz! They put McCain up as cannon fodder in ‘08a and now they are defending him? C’mon.

Yes, but he’s not handling it very well imo....he’s creating purposeful barbs against other candidates out of the air....makes me wonder why he’s doing this when he can simply stay with immigration and issues...he’s getting out of control....demorats are loving this...

I wouldn’t vote for Jeb or Trump under any circumstances. Jeb is a RINO and Trump is an opportunist who has zero credibility when trying to figure out what he really believes. He has in the past supported some pretty unacceptable things like abortion, gun control and sodomite rights. Everyone is cheering him for his recent statements on immigration, but his hostility to illegal immigrants is VERY recent.

I repeat... he is playing conservatives for a bunch of suckers. And he is playing us with the skill of a master violinist.

if Trump drops out of the race because of the establishment/media BS, a lot of people are going to sit home on Election Day. The establishment still doesn’t get it. Fed up is an understatement.

Shut up Rick. Seriously. I don’t agree with Trump’s statement, but McCain’s such a dick, I don’t care what anyone says about that loser. He’s done more damage than almost anyone in the past 15 years.

Being a POW doesn’t make you a hero—did he act with honor as a POW? He hasn’t acted with honor as a senator. Trump is right here.

It scorned all POWs

No, it didn't. The statement was that being captured does not make one a war hero. What do you have against what Trump is doing, waking up US citizens?
