VETS TOLD THEY CAN 'BUY BACK' 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
WND ^ | June 5 2015 | BOB UNRUH

A legal team investigating the Obama administration’s order that certain American military veterans deemed “incompetent” give up their weapons says the problem is worse than expected.

People who live with veterans now are being ordered not to possess a gun, and some veterans are told they can “buy back” their Second Amendment rights by giving up their veterans’ benefits.

“This is simply unbelievable, On the one hand the [Veterans Administration] and the FBI have found veterans to be mentally ill and too dangerous to be allowed to own firearms, while on the other hand allowing these allegedly dangerous people to buy their firearms rights back,” wrote Michael Connelly, executive director of the United States Justice Foundation in a report.

“This is illegal and is called extortion.”

The organization has been looking into claims by a number of veterans and their family members.

The veterans were sent a letter telling them they were being classified as incompetent and the government was assigning someone to help them handle their benefits and payments.

Consequently, they were told, they could no longer own weapons, under penalty of fines and jail time.

The problem was that the veterans were being determined guilty without a hearing regarding the potential loss of their constitutional rights, USJF said at the time.

“But [they] are being told that if they do defy the government and appeal, their benefit payments can be suspended for the duration of the appeal, which can drag on for years,” the report said.

“The families of veterans are also [being] told that since they live with a veteran who has been declared incompetent they can’t own or purchase firearms.”

Or there’s that option to give up benefits, the report said.

I agree 100%

But the point of my post is that if your rights are God Given and codified in the BOR, why is it that they can be legislated away.....with support for so many here?

If I missed your point, please forgive me :)

Got one all picked out. But it starts with a decimal point.

The one thing I didn’t see any proof of in the letter or the article is about “buying back the right”...supposedly the claim is in a report by this USJF, but I didn’t see it.

One can apply for relief of the prohibition, but that doesn’t = “buyback”.

Even still, the reprehensible act of stripping veteran’s of their 2nd Amendment rights should be cause enough for Congress to step in immediately.

Due process should and must be followed...

I really appreciate this post. I was just about ready to start seeing another primary care provider who belongs to the same group as the one that I currently have but is located just down the street.

This gives me pause.

They are most worried about those with military training when the obozo mamba jamma islams declare they are now the police, they are trying to do everything to disarm and kill as many as possible when the fight comes for law and order.. It should be unconstitutional for the president to appoint the DOJ, when the executive owns the DOJ, Congress is no longer relevant and more and more power grabs will occur. We need the military to surround dc, and clean it out.. Tell em all hit the road jack, go to islamic hellhole of choice

“Medical records are being passed from the Department of Health and Human Services to the FBI “of anyone who has ever told their physician they were feeling depressed, even if never treated, and anyone who has taken certain drugs for things like PTSD, ADD, or ADHD, among others.””

This is pretty much an admission that all of the mass shootings are as a result of people on SSRIs.

But, they twist this into a form of gun control.

If a Doctor, or anyone in his or her office, asks you about guns, immediately leave the premises even if you have a broken leg! Your right to keep and bear arms has nothing to do with the medical business. Ask the individual are you working for the “Gun Nazis?”

Question 11f deals with mental issues, but the key word is “Ajudicated” as opposed to bureaucratic fiat.

This does not surprise me one bit. While living in Minnesota, I have heard some leftards say that anyone with any military background should not be allowed to participate in the political process. That means not hold office and not vote.

this year my medical clinic handed me a questioner asking If I owned a gun. I refused to fill out the questioner. the person then gave me a form acknowledging that I was asked and refused to participate. I refused to sigh that explaining to the nurse that If I choose not to participate it means I am not going have anything to do with them asking non medical questions. I am sure the nurse thought I was a gun nut and owned guns but I don’t but that is my personnel choice. I just don’t want the government knowing whom owns guns and who doesn’t. the best government is one that is wary of its population. the best way for them to be warry is not knowing who has a gun at home.

We’re on the same page!

I may go one little bit further and say that a God-given right cannot be legislated away in part or in full.

There’s a letter from the VA to one of the members at my American Legion. It is posted on the bulletin board. It says he has been determined to be incompetent because he couldn’t handled his money from the VA. It points out that he is not to possess any guns or he will be charged as a felon under the Brady Bill. It is not a joke and the letter is very real.
