U.S. Special Forces will soon be riding into battle in a race-bred truck.
The Polaris DAGOR is a compact military machine that uses a trophy truck-style suspension for extreme off-road capability and was developed in partnership with Roush Industries of NASCAR fame.
The purpose-built military machine is about the size of a four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, but can fit up to nine warfighters onboard: four in the cabin, four in the bed, and a roof gunner positioned in a sling seat suspended from the roll cage.
The 4,500-pound vehicle is powered by a diesel engine of unspecified origin, has a range of 500 miles and can haul up to 3,250 pounds. It's long-travel suspension features Fox off-road shocks.

The poor souls wrote the requirements for their "hearse" and this is at least getting close to what they wanted for ULCV. It hasn't entered acquisition phase yet, basically a technology demonstration. This isn't competing with JLTV, it is for a niche role to operate predominantly off-road with enhanced mobility.
I have seen lots of pictures of Seals riding into combat in a rubber boat.
It looks like a suicide boat to me but then I know that they know what they are doing.
One grenade or RPG would kill them all. A death trap for 14 troops concentrated in one vehicle with no armor or protection. And the gas tank to carry this thing 500 miles must be huge. A fiery deathtrap, too.
The police departments will get them first.
Yep, but that is what they want, and this isn’t an anomaly or unique to SOCOM— the trend has been going on for a while among light infantry. It could be a bias because of the sorts of conflicts we’ve been in of late, but troops and their commanders right up to the three stars feel that TTPs emphasizing superior C2, speed and aggressiveness keep them alive.
Many mines were intended for the deminer. Mines would be stacked on top of each other, or located close to another in order to catch a green/careless deminer.
I guess they can carry several body bags. They’re gonna need em. I’ll bet the three stars will be riding around in their GMC bulletproof Suburbans.
Its diesel.
Burns longer.
Yep. Some people can’t read or are just plain dumb.
I know that is the impression, but most of them are making decisions for the good of the Army and their soldiers, and they are leading from the front. Harry was on track to be a three star, but it turned out like this. I worked with him on a couple of projects when he was deputy ASA(ALT)- very inspiring leader, way outside of the box, and an American patriot. Talked to him couple of weeks before he deployed- never dreamed it would end like that. Sure, there are some purely politicized faggots wearing stars who stab us all in the back, and I hate them as much as anybody... actually more. But there are still many good guys out there too.
Lived a deminer, 49er,
and his daughter Clementine
If they had a list of jobs you could apply for in the Army, I think finding, digging them up and then disarming mines would be near my last choice.
OMG - I want one! But, of course, I would never be able to afford one.
The family who owns the land next to me are wealthy. One day they (four teenagers, two boys and two girls) drove by on a Polaris ATV on a trail which divides the property. They stopped and we talked a little bit.
I got to looking at their machine and realized that it wasn’t very far from being a car.
Coming soon to a Houston Freeway near you.
More smoke too.
But at least it won’t “explode.”
Which leaves only 3-4 obvious ways to catch hell in it.
On the other hand back when I was in, we did not have Kevlar anything, no GPS, no NV to speak of... Gen 3 had not been invented yet.
It was ruck up, move out, press on.
I think it should have been designed with some sort of push bars or bumpers as the most forward part of the vehicle and not have the winch leading the way.
You might have to help another vehicle by pushing or have to shove one out of the way.
Walker Evans beadlock rims. Really nice.
