My Father was in the combat engineers in WWII and according to their history, they once dug 18 mines out of a 6 yard square piece of ground. I guess the Germans considered it a good location for a mine.
Many mines were intended for the deminer. Mines would be stacked on top of each other, or located close to another in order to catch a green/careless deminer.
