Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Ok then - I don’t have that effect.

In that case, there is zero reason to eye me with “suspicion”. Suspicion of what? Being overly polite? Being disappointed in the level of discourse around here?

In that case, I willfully plead guilty.

“They by no means have a monopoly on that behavior.”

Sure. There may have been some childish actions on both sides of the isle. But try reading through the posts and maybe you’ll get a better understanding of what actually has occurred.

I can’t speak for all posts on this forum. Only the ones I have followed. But I can tell you that many responses ,even though seemingly childish, were justified.

Many of the reactions by ‘conservatives’ were through frustration from a few that insisted that they were right about their point of view no matter what.

You say you don’t support Rudy, and that’s good.

But many do and found it necessary to belittle the ones that didn’t through rude and vicious comments, which got them banned.

I know this thread is a long one, but if you go through it you will find what I say to be true.

Just visualize how I would be dealt with if I went to th eLog Cabin republicans website and started spouting off how great Duncan Hunter is and how his anti-gay agenda policies are really best for the country and the GOP.
***You’d get zotted pretty fast, so you know what that means — you’d have to burrow in for awhile as a troll. That helps explain this mass freepercide/lemming migration. Folks going over to the other wideasleep site might feel like they need to be zotted over here in order to be legitimate over there.

They were almost without exception, to me...very nice, pragmatic Freepers.

The problem with pragmatism is that it just doesn't work.

And, yes, you can quote me on that.

I take it you were never on the receiving end of the abuse many of them dished out over a very long period of time.

My personal favorites are/were the mass-freepmails coordinating attacks against individual FReepers. ;-)

Well, to begin with, I was posting to someone else over this issue and do not know you. But that is fine, you have chosen to respond to me.

Like I said, I have known them for a long time and their posting history speaks for itself in most of the cases.

Like I also said, I do not know all that went on to bring them to this point and did not comment on it, so your post that I “must have seen it”, is not accurate from the get go.

My point is simple, I have known them for many years, have seen and agreed with many, many of their posts and activities. I am sad to see them go.

Like I have also said, support of Rudy is an absolute no-opt for me on basic core principle, and I have posted it many times on FR and to those who support Rudy in an effort to let them know how I feel. Even though I have been diametrically opposed to them over this, I was never on the receiving end of attack posts...but that’s just my experience.

I do believe, and am glad that Jim has come out on this issue as he has. I believe it caught a lot of people off guard. But it is well past time IMHO that the conservative base comes out firmly against the likes of a Rudy nomination IMHO.

More likely, Shrillery would be the more astute campaigner and run to the right of rudy. Did she ever promote federal funding for abortions? That kind of thing. Coupled with the media turning on rudy, it would be a blood bath.

I do monthly but I’ll do what I can to pick up slack next fundraiser. No one is indispensable and FR will go on. Such a sad thread though

“It is a sickening thing to watch the toadies and the foul-mouthed sycophantic bullies be put in charge”

Many Freepers were bullied by tht motley crew of non-principled hacks, who have recently zapped themselves into oblivion. Now, maybe you are not very observant or you just always agreed with them so you were never on an opposing side of some of them. Nonetheless things have changed.

If one watns to support liberal Republicans I’m sure there are sites out there for one.

That's is the only reason that I can see as to why you even showed up here.

I have been here since almost the beginning, see #1694, #2648, #2675, #2979, and #3180 for example.

I have explained what I don't like and it has nothing to do with my "pals" or "discipline". It has to do with a level of discourse that is beneath Free Republic. This is a public forum. Our adversaries, the liberals, are enjoying seeing us reduced to this level.

I really and truly do not understand. Do you really think I would go for a gay/abortion/anti-gun liberal activist as the GOP nominee for president without putting up one hell of a fight? How could anyone ever come to that conclusion? Have you ignored every statement of purpose I’ve ever posted and all of my posts and arguments for conservative values and against liberalism all these years? I’m completely baffled. Shocked actually.
