It was worse than a catfight. A New Jersey woman’s fight against eviction ended in a deadly blaze Wednesday when she intentionally started a fire in the home she shared with dozens of cats and refused to vacate. The woman and dozens of cats died in the massive fire, which broke out shortly after 11 a.m. in Roosevelt, authorities said. State police had served the unidentified woman an eviction notice but she refused to leave and threatened to blow up the house.

GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) failed to secure victory in his long-running quest to become Speaker of the House in the first round Tuesday afternoon, a setback for both McCarthy and House Republicans who have an uphill battle to prove Republican leadership can govern with a narrow majority following last November's midterm elections. The selection of House Speaker is generally a procedural step in a new majority's work to take control of the lower chamber, but Republicans in the House have had a rough go of it between the midterm elections and Tuesday's vote. GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) failed...

I wrote about how Elon Musk discovered “Stay Woke” t-shirts in a Twitter closet as he continues to sort out things at the headquarters. That says so much about the liberal nature of the platform before Musk. Musk also noted that the shirts go back to the time of the shooting of Michael Brown and the protests/riots in Ferguson. He also linked to the report of the Obama DOJ, noting that the shooting was in self-defense. That set off people on the left even more because they had to deal with the reality that their beliefs that they may have...

On Tuesday morning, solar activity news website Spaceweather.com reported: "There are two sunspots on the farside of the sun so large they are affecting the way the sun vibrates." The study of the sun's vibrations is known as helioseismology, and it's a key area of solar science. Helioseismology involves studying sound waves from inside the sun, which can give clues as to what's happening on parts of the sun we can't see. It's similar to regular seismology here on Earth, in which scientists can work out what's going on inside our planet by studying sound waves that travel through our...

Former President Donald Trump’s social media outfit, Truth Social, is locked in a bitter battle with one of its vendors claiming that the platform is stiffing the company out of more than $1 million in contractually obligated payments, FOX Business has learned. If the allegations are true, they would suggest that Truth Social’s finances are in significant disarray, people with direct knowledge of the matter say. Internet infrastructure company RightForge is said to be among Truth Social’s largest vendors and creditors, these people say. In October, RightForge announced it entered into an agreement to host Truth Social, which Trump helped...

Explanation: This moon is doomed. Mars, the red planet named for the Roman god of war, has two tiny moons, Phobos and Deimos, whose names are derived from the Greek for Fear and Panic. These martian moons may well be captured asteroids originating in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter or perhaps from even more distant reaches of our Solar System. The larger moon, Phobos, is indeed seen to be a cratered, asteroid-like object in this stunning color image from the robotic Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, with objects as small as 10 meters visible. But Phobos orbits so close...

A Giant grocery chain location in Northeast Washington, D.C. — roughly one mile from the United States Capitol — was among the latest to be hit by apparently brazen thieves who quickly yet calmly empty shelves into carts and plastic bags before apparently making their way through the door without paying. It was the kind of scene Democrats try to brush off or say is blown out of proportion, but one that is now hitting a neighborhood in which several of them stay while doing business at the Capitol. The video tweeted out in Tuesday's early afternoon hours shows a...

A mechanic totaled a $3.4 million Ferrari when he smashed into a tree stump on a test drive. The bright red Enzo sports car, one of only 400 made, had two wheels ripped off and may be irreparable. Local reports suggest a dealership mechanic was behind the wheel. He escaped unhurt but was taken to the hospital for a check-up. A witness to Tuesday’s smash in Baarn, Netherlands, said: “I think he wanted to turn back to the dealership.” They added: “The local Ferrari dealer is about one and a quarter miles away from the scene. It’s a customer-owned car....

Labor trouble had been brewing for days on the dusty set at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe. The cinematographer who was accidentally killed, Halyna Hutchins, had been advocating for safer conditions for her team, said one crew member who was on the set. As the camera crew — members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees — spent about an hour assembling their gear at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, several nonunion crew members showed up to replace them, the knowledgeable person said. A member of the producer staff then ordered the union members to leave the set....

Partial human remains were reportedly located in a Florida nature park where authorities have searched for Brian Laundrie, and a medical examiner has responded to the area, in the search for the fugitive wanted in the Gabby Petito case. The discovery of remains comes after some items belonging to Laundrie were found in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. Law enforcement sources told NBC News that the remains were found in a section of the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park that had previously been underwater due to heavy rains. A cadaver dog also has been deployed to the scene, CNN reported. A...

An international court has ruled that Iceland was within its rights to deny parental rights to two lesbians who obtained a baby boy through surrogacy in the United States. For one thing, the decision from the European Court of Human Rights found, is that surrogacy is illegal in Iceland. So that required the infant, when he came to Iceland about eight years ago with the two women, to be classified an unaccompanied minor who was in the custody of the government. The two lesbians eventually obtained a foster care agreement with the government to care for the child, but their...

Some residents in Manatee County, Florida, were evacuated from their homes over Easter weekend as officials cited fears that a wastewater pond could collapse "at any time." Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for the area on Saturday. County officials said the pond, located at the former Piney Point phosphate processing plant, has a "significant leak," according to CBS affiliate WTSP-TV. The Manatee County Public Safety Department told people near the plant to evacuate due to an "imminent uncontrolled release of wastewater." "A portion of the containment wall at the leak site shifted laterally," said Manatee Director...

Matthew McConaughey recently had some very refreshing thoughts about politics in America. McConaughey sat down for an awesome interview with Russell Brand following the release of “Greenlights,” and it sounds like he’s not a fan of the elitist attitude found within his own industry. “There are a lot on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize and are arrogant towards the other 50%,” McConaughey explained. He added that people in Hollywood “were in denial” about President Donald Trump winning the 2016 election.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website disclosed the shockingly small number of people who died from only the Wuhan coronavirus, with no other cause of death mentioned. Hold on to your hat because here it is: out of the 161,392 deaths in the CDC data, just six percent, about 9,700 deaths, were attributed to the coronavirus alone. According to the CDC, the other 94 percent had an average of 2.6 additional conditions or causes of deaths, such as heart disease, diabetes, and sepsis.

In a recent interview with Daily Beast, the woman who parted ways with ESPN due to her extreme rhetoric, was asked about her recent tweet where she said all Trump’s 2020 voters are racists. Wearing masks in public is our new normal. Health experts have concerns over people wearing N95 respirator masks, which have a breathing valve. The air you breathe in is filtered, but the air you exhale is not, putting others at risk. https://t.co/ROmeB4cPWu
