A striking aspect of the new Pew survey on Jewish Americans is how liberal Jews are. Is it good for the Democrats? You bet.
Why do people vote the way to do? For swing voters, the answer is usually the state of the economy. For most, however, voting patterns are surprisingly fixed. People tend to vote for one party consistently over time. For Jewish American voters, the party of choice has been the Democratic party.
Conservatives have been trying to crack the code for a number of years on how to get Jewish voters over to their side. Based on the findings of the new "Portrait of Jewish Americans" survey from the Pew Research Center, Republicans will need to find a different key. Jews are likely going to be Democrats for the foreseeable future.
Let's start with the fact that the most important determining factor of voting pattern is partisan affiliation. If you identify as a Democrat, you are far more likely to vote Democratic than if you identify as an independent or a Republican. In this instance, 70% of Jews self-identify as leaning to or members of the Democratic party. That compares with just 49% of the American public overall who at least lean Democratic. Only 22% of Jews consider themselves as leaning Republican, compared to 39% of the overall public. Orthodox Jews, who represent no more than 10% of the United States' Jewish population, tend to make up the majority of Republican Jews.
Given their self-identification, it's unlikely that Jewish Americans will break from their Democratic ways. But a closer look at why Jews are Democratic should give Republicans further pause....

I have heard the Jewish half of the family say that the Republican Party is TOO Christian....that and they LOVE ABORTION!
Silly comment. What percentage of blacks were Republican from 1860 to 1964? What percentage were from 1976 to today? Those biases can be changed relatively quickly by the right circumstances.
NOBODY VOTES "DEMOCRATIC!" EVER! That is as inaccurate as stating that we live in a Democracy when we live in a Republic.
They vote "Democrat" and while Democrats these days believe in "democracy;" they are hardly "democratic."
The Holocaust is central to their identity as slavery is to many blacks. I found that interesting.
I find it telling that the article goes into minute detail and extended depth as to why Jews believe this or that or vote a certain way. The most telling aspect of the article is that it neglects to mention that the Jewish population of the US is between 2 and 3% last time I checked.

Are you saying that the Civil rights movement was the turning point for Blacks towards the democrats or was it the Great Society? I always thought it was the New Deal.
I have been siding with Jews in International issues since I was in high school 50 years ago, but I am now done with them. They overwhelmingly vote DemoRat and helped elect an antisemite President here. So, they are on their own as far as I am concerned. Screw them.
People who place a disproportionate importance on their genital activities tend to vote Democrat. Take Bill and Hillary for example. He could not wait to get home from church on Easter Sunday in order to be fellated by Monica. And then there’s Hillary with her lesbian assistant - wife to Weiner. Now there’s Weiner who thinks his genitals are more important than most people care. You can go down the list of Democrats who fill the bill.
But for a variety of reasons, wealth, intellectual output, and cultural/media influence, they wield influence far exceeding their numbers.

Instead of “screwing” the Jews (or any other group) we need to argue, convince and TRY to show them the error of their ways. I have succeeded in convincing family members, who voted (unfortunately) for Obama in 2008 to drop him in 2012. As a Jew, there is always hope but not the Obamian HOPE...
Jews vote for Liberal causes because they suffer from the disease of blind Liberalism and historically have always welcomed CHANGE, progress, justice and diversity. Who would have known that these factors would get completely out of control?
Jews as the underdog throughout history forced them into a position where they always sought change, usually via some kind of radical or revolutionary movement. From Socialism, Communism, women's suffrage, Worker's rights, civil rights, women's rights and anti-war movements, they've always focused on changing a status quo because JEWS ARE NEVER SATISFIED with the current state of affairs.They always dream of improving something or some group (other than their own, for example, in Israel too).
They wanted to improve their standing in every nation they resided in. Can you blame them? Unfortunately almost all of these waves of change that they participated in backfired on them.
I do not understand, why such an ancient and persecuted people like the Jews still CLING to causes that do not help them.
In the Bible, it states that the Hebrews were (are) a “stiff-necked” people, (stubborn). It is my challenge to twist those stiff necks into leather necks. I am not giving up, it is a lifetime battle.

Well said. I have a second home in S Florida that is loaded with liberal Democrat Jews....but a few, very few do take a stand. Conservative Jews do not hold back when expressing their views LOL.
They compare 0bama to Hitler publicly and call libs a disease. Heard one say “they would eat live babies if 0bama told them to do so”...nice quote..think I’ll steal it!
Blacks ignore that it was Republicans who fought to end slavery while democrats fought to uphold it; every Jim Crow law was written by a democrat, etc.
Jews, on the other hand, ignore that the Holocaust was perpetrated by socialist, pagan, homosexualist leftists; not conservative Christians as is popularly misrepresented.

Don’t show them the error of their ways, educate them as to what high minded liberalism has done to blacks and other minorities. In 1964 the black prison population was the same percentage as they were in society as a whole, 12-15%. Then, “The Great Society” happened. Democrats used the KKK as their military arm for 100 years. The architects of the Holocaust were the German SOCIALIST party, not the German Right Wing Party.
Evict them!
