A new law in Arkansas that bans the most common procedure used in second-trimester abortions is making international headlines.
Supporters believe the law prohibiting dismemberment abortion benefits the unborn baby, while opponents believe it punishes the mother.
But there's a third life involved: the father.
"What if we said to men, 'Before you can have a vasectomy...,'" said State Sen. Joyce Elliott, D-Little Rock. "That would be so outrageous. But they don't see the outrage in constantly putting the thumb on women to dictate what they can do and not do."

Joyce Elliott, D-Little Rock: thinks the vas deferens is the same as a HUMAN BEING.
Yes, folks, she was elected unopposed in 2014 in the state's 31st Senate district.
Come on, Arkansas....
“”What if we said to men, ‘Before you can have a vasectomy...,’”
Apples and oranges...
She’s in one of those districts in which no one else can win but her. A lot of it is name ID and party.
Actually, there are many urologists who will not allow the surgery to go forward for a married man unless his wife does indeed sign the form. My former urologist was one.
Former.
There is no third party involved in a vasectomy.
This will really anger the fangtooth feminazis.
I have been married for 48 years. My spouse had her tubes tied without my consent decades ago, and I have never forgiven her...
A vasectomy is the same as killing your baby???
You mean, lets men prevent their sons and daughters from being murdered.
Abortion is different from sterilization because it involves somebody else.
I live here and she is a MORON.
Now what this article may not have said is this, buried in that Bill is that if the woman was raped and conceived, the rapist can stop the Abortion.
“That’s between you and your wife, and not between you, your wife”
Well DUHA...
AR is red everything (National and State); there is not much to be critical about. Some districts or counties still slide through the cracks but that is just a state office, not national. She won’t hold much sway.
I knew of this law but I did not know of the ramifications.
vasectomy can be undone. I know of at least two
The Duha prayer is the voluntary, Islamic prayer between the obligatory Islamic prayers, Fajr and Dhuhr.
The point is, the woman claimed it would be outrageous for men to have to get their wives' permission for a vas. I agree, it would be outrageous, and it does happen.
But aside from permission, which is one thing, no partner in what I consider a decent marriage would undertake this decision if his/her spouse was against it.
Regardless of my opinion, it isn't the business of anyone outside the marriage.
Poor left loon mothers, equating semen with the life of little boys and girls...theirs and the father’s children.
It’s true that a man’s sterilization surgery is not the sane as homicide (abortion) of course-— killing your baby is far more serious than maiming yourself sexually.
But as a matter of justice, a man should not sterilize himself without his wife’s knowledge and consent. (And the same for a wife sterilizing herself.)
Assuming they are both physiologically normal and of childbearing age, husbands and wives have a reasonable expectation that they will be able to have children together. Traditionally, their bodies (complete in every detail) belong to each other, since they have given themselves to each other in sexual union and are now one flesh.
For either one of them to sabotage himself or herself sexually, would be a kind of fraud.
is the accused “rapist” a husband? Or a stranger?
That's the "poison pill" to ensure the bill gets killed.
