As usual, the fools in my state were sold a bill-of-goods. Thousands of fool Coloradans may have believed pot taxes were going to be a "cash cow", but not this Coloradan who can do simple math like multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting.

Coloradans will need whatever extra taxes they get for medical expenses for the treatment of addicts down the road.

And a 100 million in costs to the damage to people using, businesses, crime and lost futures for a start.
But drugs are at the heart of the Libertarian wet dream.

Never, the local recreational addicts would buy once legally and then stuff cheaper non-taxed street drugs into the legal bottles to evade the rule of law and all taxation.
Recreational drug users were never honorable people, they are addicted people.

How does one get addicted to marijuana when marijuana is not addictive?

It doesn't matter what the revenue ends up being.

The vast majority of Americans have tired of the War on Pot (75% of the War on Drugs).

These Americans will make pot legal in all 50 states.

Pretty much. Street pot is cheaper than legal and quite plentiful since the cops have pretty much just given up enforcing any kind of pot laws here.

I recently had a conversation with someone who swore that Colorado is swimming in money due to the massive windfall from marijuana.

It’s cute that they believe that.

The biggest cost to Colorado is that the type of people who love pot are also the type of people that use welfare.

Sure, some professional types smoke pot, I know a few, but overall the massive homeless, mentally ill, and lower class of people are moving into Colorado.

Don't be bringing facts into this conversation. It may have a somewhat psychological addiction but not a physical one.

Permanent changes to the brain that it makes.

You get what is called drug brain.

Would love to see a study following the productivity of a recreational marijuana users in life vs non dopers.
Bet overall they are losers and they probable are in the end major tax takers.

They need to build a wall to keep them out. Give the ones there bus tickets to California.

“The vast majority of Americans have tired of the War on Pot (75% of the War on Drugs).”

Count me in! The so-called War on Drugs has devolved into a process whereby the law enforcement agencies use it to get federal money and material along with money and property seizures. And that has resulted in unfettered abuse of law abiding citizens being stripped of their honsestly earned cash at roadside stops. Unless we want to go the way of Singapore and make all illegal drugs punishable by death, we’re just pi$$ing into the wind.

But drug dealers make a fortune sell illegal drugs. Can’t the State make a little fortune by engaging in the same trade?

Maybe it is in their acquisition and distribution channels, sales methods, and collection efforts. Maybe the State should start issuing large caliber weapons to the sales staff and set up distribution center around schools. Maybe the state should start fire bombing some of the local competitors (bars, health food stores, etc.) to get their point across.

No, you don’t.

There are no marijuana addicts, because marijuana is not addictive.

There ARE alcohol addicts, because alcohol is addictive. You can die from alcohol withdrawal. That is what addiction is, okay.

How many loser alcoholics do you think there are in America?

I know one. My step dad.

He was a violent alcoholic who beat my family. He was later dishonorably discharged from his position as a Coast Guard captain.

A loser, he was, and still is, because he can’t quit drinking, because he is an alcohol addict.
