Donald Trump has often promised to repeal the “disaster” that is Obamacare and he’s right, it is a disaster.
But at Thursday night’s CNN Republican Presidential Town Hall in South Carolina, Donald Trump embraced what is easily the worst part of Obamacare, the anti-free market “individual mandate” which forces Americans to buy only government-approved health care insurance, whether they want to or not.
To justify his support for the Obamacare mandate, Donald Trump uses leftist talking points of not wanting people to “die in the streets,” as if they has ever happened in America — before or after Obamacare.
Here’s how Donald Trump answered CNN’s Anderson Cooper last night (emphasis added):
DONALD TRUMP:“Well, I like the mandate. OK. So here’s where I’m a little bit different. I don’t want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this – look, I did five speeches, maybe six speeches today. We had a lot of rallies. We had of thousands and thousands of people. I mean, we get big crowds.“
Allow me to break down the “logic” of this:

Dont want to see people dying in the streets? So all IsIs has to do is blackmail it!
LOL. Just a few hours to go before the Donald wins SC. My family and I just can’t wait to vote for him tomorrow.
Trump has been losing support in SC this week so hopefully this will continue to help people to wake up to the fact that Trump is not the man they have been hoping he is.
We need a pic of someone with their fingers in their ears or an ostrich with head in the ground; that is what the Trumpers will do and ignore or pretend he didn’t say this.
It’s all OK, after all, he’s “a little bit different”...
That’s not what he meant by “mandate”. He went on to explain that he is in favor of providers being mandated to provide care regardless of ability to pay.
But here’s something you can help spread around:
Trump just called for a boycott of Apple until they assist the FBI in unlocking the terrorists phone.
TRANSCRIPT
COOPER: If Obamacare is repealed and thereâs no mandate for everybody to have insurance whatâs to⦠and why would insurance company not have a pre-existing insure somebodyâ¦
TRUMP: I like tne mandate. Okay, so hereâs how Iâm a little bit different. I donât want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this⦠Look I did five speeches maybe six speeches today we had a lot of rallies with thousands and thousands of people. I mean we get big crowds. Everytime I talk about this I get standing ovations. The Republican people, theyâre wonderful people, they donât want people dying on the streets. Sometimes they say, âDonald Trump wants single-payer.â Because there is a group of people, as good as these plans are, and by the way your insurance will go way down youâll have better players, youâll get your own doctor
COOPER: Whichâ¦
TRUMP: Obama lied. Remember thisâ¦
COOPER: A person with a pre-existing condition should be able to get insurance?
TRUMP: Yes. Obama lied when he said youâre gonna keep your plan, you get to keep your doctor. I was a pure lie. Frankly many democrats went along only because they believed him. He lied twenty-eight times. Twenty-eight times he said it. Twenty-eight times. If that were in the private sector you be sued for fraud. Okay? He lied to get the plan through. He got it through and itâs turned out to be a disaster. The wrong people are buying it. You know whatâs happening. Itâs dead. Itâs gonna⦠Look, ObamaCare is dead. Itâs gonna be repealed, gonna be replaced. But I will say this, Anderson, if we donât do something quickly you can have a health care problem that you⦠like youâve never seen before in this country. Now the new plan is good, itâs going to be inexpensive, itâs going to be much better for the people. But thereâs gonna be a group of people at the bottom people that havenât done well, people that donât have any money that wonât be able to be taken care of. Weâre gonna take care of them through maybe concepts of medicare. We have hospitals that arenât doing well. We have doctors arenât doing well. You cannot let people die on the street, okay? Now some people would say âthatâs not a very Republican thing to say.â Every time I say this at a rally, or even today I said it, once again a standing ovation, I said, you know, the problem is everybody thinks that you people as Republicans hate the concept of taking care of people that are really, really sick and are gonna die. And thatâs not single-payer, by the way, thatâs called âheart.â Weâve gotta take care of people that canât take care of themselves. But the plans will be much less expensive than Obamacare, theyâll be far better than Obamacare, youâll get your doctor you get everything you want to get, itâll be unbelievable. [Italics are mine, read this a couple of times.] But youâve got to get rid of the lines. Youâve got to have competition. those people that are left, we gotta help them live and everybody likes it when I say it, and that includes Republicans and itâs not single-payer.
If Trump doesn’t win, who will stop the illegal alien invasion?
Elect Trump now, fix the rest IF the country survives (which it cannot due to our embrace of gay marriage).
Trump is the emergency triage answer.
Have you watched the video of what Trump said in the townhall last night. He clearly endorsed the Obamacare mandate. Please watch the video of Trump because he clearly said this last night. Here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/embed/fIDi2wlgZN4
I just want a candidate who actually wants people dying in the streets.
That mandate made it to the Court House steps for the laying in repose of Scalia in the form of broccoli...along with fortune cookies, paper bags, and applesauce.
Your transcript proves what we all are saying. Trump clearly said he liked the mandate which Cooper had just defined as the “mandate for everybody to have insurance.” This is the part of Obamacare where the government tells everyone that they must purchase insurance. Do you support this now that Trump does?
It’s not the mandate that you buy insurance or get fined. Not the same.
Talk about YUGE promises!
Not the same context of mandate. Got anything else.
Shameless attempt to take something out of context.
COOPER: Repealed and there’s no mandate for everybody to have insurance, what’s to - why would insurance company (sic) not have a pre-existing - insure somebody who has a pre-existing condition ...
