Bush Lied About WMDs? Trump’s Outrageous Accusation
THE AMERICAN SPECTATOR ^ | 15 Feb 16 | Paul Kengor

Posted on 02/15/2016 8:46:46 AM PST by elhombrelibre

- The Donald parades in a ludicrous left-wing canard.

Donald Trump took a page from MoveOn.org in the Republican debate in South Carolina on Saturday night.

Speaking of the Bush decision to go to war in Iraq, Trump asserted: “I want to tell you, they lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none. And they knew there were none.”

The “they” means George W. Bush, and (we must assume) basically Bush’s administration and entire security and foreign-policy and intelligence team.

Trump’s accusation is outrageous. This is Code Pink/International A.N.S.W.E.R.-type stuff. Is Donald Trump trying to win the Cindy Sheehan vote?

What Trump said here is what we would expect from a left-wing blogger at the Daily Kos, not from the Republican front-runner for the White House.

The idea that George W. Bush lied about WMDs is a ludicrous left-wing canard that should be on the ash-heap of history.

Spoiled rich kid, nearly life long liberal until he was in his mid-sixties, let his inner liberal schweinhund out again to attack another Republican with his heart felt left wing heart. He's a fraud and a liberal.

Jeb and the Bush Crime Family’ page 331-332

‘Mission accomplished, at least for George W. Bush. The man who plotted to kill his father, and committed untold other crimes, is dead. But 12 year later, more than 4,000 American
Troops have died in Iraq-and $1.7 trillion dollars have already been spent, a number that increases every day. The weapons of mass destruction George W. claimed were there, and used to justify that human and financial cost, were never found.

The people of Iraq? The horror of Saddam has been replaced by the horror of civil war, ISIS, and an entirely uncertain future.

But George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld got their man...’

Are Redstate, Spectator, CR, NR, all written by the same person.

They never seem to print that Trump has been ahead for 7 months, anything positive about his remarkable career.
They don’t even print that he is winning with every demographic. Or he won all the debates.

Why bother posting Same Old Same Old.

When are they going to get it.

The Democrats in the media are protesting that even the Democrats don't say this.

Donald Trump Is No Revolutionary, He's Just a Democrat

*He tried to kill my dad* - GWBush sometime in 2003

It was a personal vendetta, not a matter of national security.

It was the biggest blunder in U.S. history.

Too bad he doesn’t speak as passionately about the missteps of the current administration, and their horrendous failures and where those failures have led us as he does about Bush’s. He could also add what he would/will do differently.you know, act Presidential! Rehashing Dem talking points doesn’t do him any favors.

Here Bush confirms , he lied .

Do you even know what the word "lie" means?

Your link doesn't show that Bush lied, it shows Bush admitting that he was wrong.

“Is Donald Trump trying to win the Cindy Sheehan vote?”

It sure sounds like it. Does Trump really believe that Bush lied or ?.

Winning by any means necessary is one thing but it’s another if he’s been trying to win by deceiving Republicans;

Bush tried to justify his bone-headed Iraq invasion by claiming the presence of WMD’s, which were nonexistent at the time, and then later changed his rationale to the equally bone-headed “Bush Doctrine” which has long since been relegated to the ash-heap of history.

Bush initially did the right thing by invading Afghanistan and going after the Taliban and bin Laden, but somewhere along the line he did his Bush thing, equivocating on his commitments. In this case, adventurism kicked in and Bush took his eye off the ball.

Facts seem to be missing on here by the paid staffers who post such utter drivel day after day.
Do these people actually think they are convincing anyone on here to change their vote?
Do they thin k their guy , regardless of who it is will suddenly get more votes and win the nomination?

If they do then I do despair.

Because this is a brand new example of Trump’s lunacy and the fact that he’s really a Democrat at heart and that he never knows what he’s going to say until it comes out of his mouth. He’s already walking this one back.

NO, he didn’t lie. He had the same position here as did Clinton and Gore. That was the state of our ( and NATO’s) intelligence at the time.

Trump is an over the top liberal buffoon. Precisely how long will some here push his candidacy, in the face of his outrageous anti-right positions and poll numbers that show his negatives and getting clobbered by Sanders, of all people?

All the neo-cons and their lapdogs have been out for Trump’s blood for months now. They don’t like it that Trump doesn’t have to come crawling to them for money, doesn’t hire them by the boatload to be his advisors, and dares stick his finger in the eye of their media powerbase.

There were "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. Our military found them after we invaded. We removed tons of WMDs from Iraq after the invasion.

However, the WMDs we found didn't "count" as WMDs in the media because we already knew they were there -- the UN had already catalogued the existence and location of the WMDs that we found after the invasion.

So the truth is that we didn't find any new WMDs. We didn't find any WMDs beyond what we had already verified that Saddam had.

Also, there is significant evidence that strongly suggests that WMDs were moved out of Iraq and into Syria and other locations before we invaded.

I was never for the Iraq invasion, I do not believe we invaded Iraq because of WMDs, and I am not a Bush apologist by any means, but the truth here has become so distorted, it is ridiculous. Saddam has WMDs. It is documented and proven fact. We just never found the "other" WMDs that were the main justification for invading Iraq.

Exactly! A few months back "60 Minutes" on CBS did a 20- minute segment about Syria using WMDs but people, even many Republicans, have been so propagandized that they won't admit that Saddam had WMDs.

I don't know what happened to them, but he sure as hell had them.
