White House OKd spying on allies, U.S. intelligence officials say
LA Times ^ | 10/28/2013 | Ken Dilanian and Janet Stobart

The White House and State Department signed off on surveillance targeting phone conversations of friendly foreign leaders, current and former U.S. intelligence officials said Monday, pushing back against assertions that President Obama and his aides were unaware of the high-level eavesdropping.

Professional staff members at the National Security Agency and other U.S. intelligence agencies are angry, these officials say, believing the president has cast them adrift as he tries to distance himself from the disclosures by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden that have strained ties with close allies.

The resistance emerged as the White House said it would curtail foreign intelligence collection in some cases and two senior U.S. senators called for investigations of the practice.

France, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Sweden have all publicly complained about the NSA surveillance operations, which reportedly captured private cellphone conversations by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, among other foreign leaders.

When the press is pushed to the wall, they use the pronoun “White House” to refer to chicanery. They don’t directly attribute it to Obama.

The size of that bus Barry keeps throwing people under gets bigger and bigger each & every passing day.

I wonder how many of the professionals at Justice & other locations will release phone conversations of Barry’s when the shooting war starts???

We don’t do that.
We did it, but I didn’t know about it.
If I had known about it, I would have stopped it.
Now I know about it, so I am considering stopping it.
Okay, I actually signed off on it.

Next up...

This is Republicans’ fault because of the shutdown, sequester, debt ceiling, and due to the dirty politics of the terrorist Tea party group. So we are issuing a press release to call for Merkel to stop all the mudslinging.

I'd prefer hangin’ ropes attached to every light pole stretching the length of US 95, running both north and south out of DC.....leaving the bodies to feed the crows ‘cause crows gotta eat too.

We are all probably victims of misinformation. Have you ever worked with a government computer program? I will give you a hint... at least at the level where I am at the experience that I typically experience is more along the lines of https://www.healthcare.gov than the all knowing OZ as described by Eric Snowden. I think it is fairly likely that the entire Snowden situation is likely to be an elaborate ruse to shutdown all forms of electronic and phone communications within terrorist organizations.

The positives are these and more: It has got people all over the world concerned about government interference into their private lives. The entire electronics communications network within terrorist organizations is being disrupted. They are now most likely relying far more on couriers which are easier to track and apprehend. It is making Obama look like the complete lying Bozo that he is. Obviously I could go on and on.

The negatives are what? Terrorists know not to use cell phones, emails, electronic bulletin boards, websites and other means of electronics communications? That is a positive. Did Eric Snowden out anyone who is now at risk? I haven't heard of anyone. Our intelligence communities “techniques” have been exposed. What have you learned that you didn't already suspect? Our allies in Europe are mad at us? What is new? Maybe next time they won't give a Nobel Peace Prize to an unproven liar who never accomplished anything.

I am just not buying any of it. I think that more likely than not the entire situation is an elaborate ruse to shut down terrorist communication networks. It seems more so every time they trickle out some extra tidbit. As soon as our enemies start peaking out we fire a few more shots over their heads. Maybe Julian Assange will even be allowed to go to South America after this thing calms back down. It is all just too perfect.

I hate it when the White House gives permission yet the people inside have no idea. These tyrannical old buildings are difficult to deal with.

"Why are we tolerating a total pathological liar as President with no repercussions from Congress?"

Probably because the NSA has incriminating evidence against most members of the Senate and Congress.
