White House OKd spying on allies, U.S. intelligence officials say

The White House and State Department signed off on surveillance targeting phone conversations of friendly foreign leaders, current and former U.S. intelligence officials said Monday, pushing back against assertions that President Obama and his aides were unaware of the high-level eavesdropping.

Professional staff members at the National Security Agency and other U.S. intelligence agencies are angry, these officials say, believing the president has cast them adrift as he tries to distance himself from the disclosures by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden that have strained ties with close allies.

The resistance emerged as the White House said it would curtail foreign intelligence collection in some cases and two senior U.S. senators called for investigations of the practice.

France, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Sweden have all publicly complained about the NSA surveillance operations, which reportedly captured private cellphone conversations by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, among other foreign leaders.

Barry spied, and then Barry lied.

Merkel cried.

Why are we tolerating a total pathological liar as President with no repercussions from Congress?

Not only does the President know....but at least a dozen Senators also know. Bush, along with Rumsfeld, the Bush intelligence team...they all know. There’s probably well over 500 people with apparent clearances....all political in nature...outside of NSA....who know.

To sit around and pretend....oh, I never was told about this....simply makes you look very foolish.

If I were the Germans....I’d entice Snowden to pull up stakes...relocate to Germany....and give the guy a free deal to stay, and then entice him to dump everything he knows....to the Germans. Then Merkel can truly say...she knows everything...that President Obama doesn’t know, or ever well know.

Luckily for us....President Obama doesn’t know about the secret alien and UFO exchange with Bothar, the Bigfoot-hybrid development program, the worm-hole experiment going on in Boise, the Mayan time-machine that we discovered last year, or the secret Coke recipe.

The question is why are we tolerating a weak, yellow striped cowardly congress in the face of a dictator? There should be torches and pitchforks seen for MILES in DC....casting enough light to read by night.

So which is it? This morning I hear that barry didn't know about. Now the NSA says he did. This should be interesting.

Of course. There was never any doubt.

I would like to know if 0 has the NSA spy on the middle eastern countries that hate us. He loves them, and doesn’t want them mad at him.

He hates European countries, and doesn’t care if he gets them mad.

Merkel should record Obama. Merkel shouldn’t say a word and simply leak it out onto the airwaves.

But what will these Nations do besides talk? In the world of diplomacy it comes down to, "I'm mad...really mad...boy am I mad."

This administration, "Oh, we're sorry it won't happen again." But what they are really thinking is what Soupy Sales reportedly said to a friend in the studio when he cut to the cartoon and got kicked off the Saturday morning kid's show.

Since when do conservatives oppose this sort of spying? Friends today are competitors and opponents tomorrow - so naturally we spy on them. Big deal.

Of course Obama knew, and of course he will deny such knowledge. Bush would have done exactly the same if this traitor Snowden had leaked all this material on his watch.

Obama looks like an idiot denying he knew when we all know better, but that’s the whole point of “plausible deniability”. For the idiot in chief, this just compounds the problems he has because he is also busy denying he knew Obamacare was going to be a disaster (website not working, people losing insurance, etc).
