Voters to GOP: Like Your Ideas, Don’t Like Your Party

A new poll for the Hill newspaper finds that “more voters trust the Democratic Party than the Republican Party on budgetary issues . . . even though a strong majority actually prefer Republican fiscal policies.”

The poll of 1,000 likely voters was taken last week by Pulse Opinion Research. It asked respondents to choose between two different budget approaches without their being identified with a particular party. A total of 55 percent picked a plan similar to the one offered by House budget chairman Paul Ryan: Trimming federal spending by $5 trillion, not raising taxes, and reaching a balanced budget at the end of a decade. Only 28 percent of those surveyed went for a plan similar to that presented by Senate budget chairman Patty Murray last week, which would raise taxes by $1 trillion, add $100 billion in infrastructure spending, and reduce the deficit but not wipe it out.

Even Democrats demonstrated that they prefer what are normally considered GOP budget ideas. Only 44 percent of Democrats polled said deficits should be primarily reduced mostly through raising taxes, versus 40 percent who felt it should be done largely by trimming spending.

The MSM always attacks Republicans. Most voters don’t even know the positions of the Democrat and Republican Parties.

My very best life long friend was a conservative through and through, but he would no more vote for a Republican than Karl Marx would vote for Reagan.

He was from a family of thirteen children and lived in poverty most of his life, with some help from the government, sadly that shaped his political view though his entire life.

I would point to his absolute opposition to Democratic Party Policy, but facts did not change him. I had to give up.

It's hard to compete with Santa and the dems know it.

As long as they can manage to give their voters everything they want with our money we will keep trying desperately to catch up. The Socialist dems are masters at political assassination. We are the ones who always get killed. They are the ones who always know exactly what they will do and how we will react. They have us figured out so well we don't even realize what is happening.

Result,we get shot down over and over even though we are usually always right in our logic, what's right for the country, etc. and they usually always wrong.

Throw in a willing media prepared to lie about anything and you have total devastation.

The left controls the message and the right lets them.

It's actually worse than that.

They create the message after they have already figured out how we will react to it and what the end result will be. We are still at the starting gate of every issue by the time it is already over.

The best way to destroy big media besides stop buying anything from their sponsors and never watch their networks, is the ignore the hell out of them.

Look what Marco Rubio just finished doing on the immigration mess. He decided to get his message out. Where did he go? First he went to the New Media,Sean, Rush, Mark everyone then the DBM as a sort of after thought.

Truth is we don't need them. Its like going to a doctor who still believes in blood letting.

I agree, but you missed a couple biggies who are currently straddling the fence, causing (lots) of trouble.

Rush Limbaugh is a big one. Hannity as well. And of course who could possibly forget the big guy of big guys the manager of Fox News himself.

All are too far to the compromise and meet the left, side.

All need to stop that, and soon.

Mr. Murdoch that may mean you disagree occasionally with your wife.

So be it.

Option 4:

Buy controlling interests in as many publicly held media companies as feasible and once in control actually take control: fire leftist reporters and newsreaders and put in a mix of conservatives and the few remaining real journalists who want to report what actually happened, rather than what fits a ‘narrative’ (I think the LATimes has a few working for it, which explains the remarkably frequent “has hell frozen over?” queries on FR prompted by straight reporting the LATimes despite its reliably looney left editorial page and position on CA issues, and there’s also Bob Woodward).

I would bet the less informed a voter is the more he or she likes the Democrat Party.

I've argued this point with Democrats - they like to believe "their party" is the party of intelligence.

I always just ask them, "which party tries to register people on the welfare lines? which party supports easier voting registration for the less informed? which party wants to restore the vote to felons? which party always carries the uninformed 18-20 year old vote?"

They're college graduates, so they think they and their party are well informed. When they still cling to that, I ask them if they can name the leader of one of the following countries - Canada, the UK, or Mexico?

I haven't met one liberal American college graduate who can answer that challenge on the spot without the internet at their fingertips. But they can always tell you what Jon Stewart says about an issue.

It's the party of hipster dumbasses.

Rupert Murdoch is not a conservative and never has been.

He's a very able businessman who recognized the market in the US for a rightish-leaning news outlet and exploited it to great success.

I mean this as a compliment to him. He's a smart man, but he's not out for ideology, he's out for revenue.

totally totally agree with you.

Our side who has a public voice never mention conservative social issues.
I heard Hannity this week trying to avive the issue when a caller called.
He tried to have it both ways too by saying he doebs;t care what people do and he beleives in marriage but nonone cares about those issues and tried to bring the conversation into the fiscal issue of which he and others like Rush always talk about.

Seems standing on principle is too hard for these guys.
As long as they make their money , don;t upset their liberal liberal-tarian and establishment pals then so be it.

It’s so obvious to even a blind guy to see that our side is losing on social issues becasuse those with a voice won;t speak up and fend conservative social issues.

Having the likes of Paul who ran as a liberal-tarian only to lose and then use the GOP to further his agenda while telling us the base we have to change is plain stupidity.

The lapdog, corrupt media loves it too when those who pretend to be conservatives come out against our views as they then use those words to attack us again.

As for FOX, ARF, hey have never been conservative and more in tune with their pockets , power and liberal-tarian far left social agenda.

Dr Laura spoke and they attacked her like a pack of lions who had not been fed in days and thus our side like Hannity shut the hell up .

I;ve noticed that the far elft always like to tell each other and themselves how smart they are but once you get them off their bumper sticker slogans and go into more depth then they either clam up or resort to name calling.

A company has to compete on the world market to survive. Fewer and fewer companies are able to stay in this country and compete world wide. Why? Mainly government regulations and heavy tax burdens. Those regulations and taxes are cost prohibitive. Try to build a new refinery,a new coal fired power plant,......

“low info voters just vote D because the media makes it out that the left are cool, and nice who care while they make the right out to be the KKK, haters, bigots and don;t care.”

The Democrat Party is made up of four groups.

1. A few organizers and operatives who want to destroy American democracy and personal freedom. Their goal is to create a totalitarian state ruled by a small group of leftists;

2. A small group of profiteers who want to get access to taxpayer money;

3. A larger group of cowards who are intimidated by political correctness and charges of racism, etc.;

4. A large group of useful idiots who understand nothing and believe whatever they are told to believe by the politicians and the MSM.

Most of these useful idiots are the ones in the poll who agree with Republican ideas but say they support the Democrats. The cowards and the profiteers would also agree. The operatives may or may not agree, it doesn't matter. They believe in nothing but the acquisition of power.

There are few Republicans who relate to average Americans. Most Republicans are careerists who say whatever is expedient at the time but would never stand up for principles. Think of Mitt Romney, or as one of his staffers described him, “an etch-o-sketch”. What they say is irrelevant or “erased” soon after they have said it.

The Republicans who are honest and principled are systematically attacked and destroyed by the MSM.

“It's the party of hipster dumbasses.”

The term that was originally used about a century ago and has stood the test of time over the past 100 years to accurately describe people who call themselves “liberals” or “progressives” is “useful idiot”.

That is the term I use. But if “hipster dumbass” works for you, hey, go with it. It gets the point across.

It sounds like your friend is a “useful idiot” who believes whatever he is told to believe.

You might point out that whatever assistance he has received came from people like you and me. It came from people who work hard, make the country work, pay taxes and keep the government from going broke.

The Democrats are all parasites. They don’t support anyone. They are takers. I have never met a generous Democrat. They all have their hands out. They all want something for nothing.

As long as the communists control the popular culture, education, and 95% or more of the media, which vilifies Republicans, it’s not going to change.

Our side who has a public voice never mention conservative social issues.

Actually, I be if you did a more detailed poll, I suspect you'd find the people that switched from supporting Ryan's budget to the Dem Budget when they added "Republican" and Democratic" to the bills switched BECAUSE of their dislike of Republican social conservative issue positions.

The fact of the matter is that when Republicans act like conservatives — as they did, in the main, during the sequester issue — they gain.

Der Leader has dropped in the polls since when Republicans stick to their principles they force their opposition to lie so obviously that even the low-information voter can see it.

So what’s the answer from the GOP? Move left.
