Anyway, when I was a growing up a lot of the “minors” would go work the tobacco fields in the summer here in CT. Wicked hard work but the pay wasn’t too bad. I don’t know if they still do that but if the can’t employ the kids to do it, what’s the alternative? Illegal farm hands? Maybe that’s what the boob is after.

Scarce farm labor will already be made even more scarce. Who will it benefit? Illegals? It certainly won’t increase production of food products.

I used to read about the Ag. policies of the Soviet Union and China and naively think, “how could they be so stupid?” I realized only much later that their policies weren’t about production or efficiency, it was about control and politics.

I worked on my grandfather's tobacco farm from the time I could do something useful...As I got older, baled hay fro my great uncle, and being permitted to operate equipment was a rite of passage which not only gave us incentive to be responsible youngsters, but taught us valuable skills which have proven useful since in other fields.
