I've got some thoughts on what I'd like to see the new Republican leadership focus on when they take over the House of Representatives next month. But I'd like to see your ideas, too. So, I thought I'd ask you to list your top five suggested agenda items in the hope that someone with a communications line into the new Congressional leadership might read this...

1. Defund Obamacare, and pass repeal bills even if it is inevitable that Zero will veto them.

2. Repeal the Community Reinvestment Act, and defy Zero to veto it.

3. Begin the process of divesting all government interest in GM, Chrysler, Fannie/Freddie, etc.

4. Defund and eventually eliminate the EPA, DOE (Education and Energy), and a host of other unconstitutional alphabet-soup federal agencies.

5. Pass the Broadcaster Freedom Act to put a stake in the heart of any revived 'Fairness Doctrine'.

Tea Party Freshmen in Congress Face Reality Check

AOL

WASHINGTON (Nov. 20, 2010) -- New Republican House members had barely settled in for freshman orientation this week when their leader delivered a disorienting message.

Sure you campaigned to slash out-of-control government spending, incoming Speaker of the House John Boehner said, but one of the first votes you will cast will be to raise the debt ceiling.

"We're going to have to deal with it as adults," the head of the Republican establishment said. "Whether we like it or not, the federal government has obligations and we have obligations on our part."

"The first item on Boehner's agenda was to tell the new Congressmen that if they wouldn't vote to raise the debt limit they were a bunch of big babies."

Well, after a little research, I found the story...that's quite a stretch you took with the "big babies" re-write. Here's the story from the WSJ:

But on Thursday, Minority Leader John Boehner (R., Ohio) said he’s been talking to the newly elected GOP lawmakers about the need to raise the federal debt ceiling when it comes up early next year.

I’ve made it pretty clear to them that as we get into next year, it’s pretty clear that Congress is going to have to deal with this,” Mr. Boehner, who is slated to become House speaker in January, told reporters.

We’re going to have to deal with it as adults,” he said, in what apparently are his most explicit comments to date. “Whether we like it or not, the federal government has obligations and we have obligations on our part.

Dealing with a problem "as adults" is a lot different than challenging them for being "big babies". Is there a story where he actually said those words?

The GOP is walking into a gigantic mess of unheard of proportions. There may be deep and abiding ramifications we don't even know about yet.

The adult way handle it - as opposed to the obama administration way of handling is - is to actually live up their, and the government's obligations.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I just couldn't find those particular words and if someone is to be quoted, we should try to quote them correctly.

Maybe he made the "big babies" comment on some talk show that I missed. Please fill me in on the source of that comment. thanks in advance.

1) Demand that ANY primaries OTHER THAN a closed primary, be considered nothing more than a ‘straw poll’ that doesn't have bearing on the nomination of candidates for Federal Gov office. A caucus or open primary in any state will count for nothing, and NO candidates so chosen shall be deemed a nominated candidate for office.

2) The dates of primaries shall be determined by the % of total votes for the Republican POTUS candidate in the previous election, with the highest % having the first Republican primary or be in the first group of primaries, if said primaries should fall on the same date.
( Sorry $hithole blue states, you are LAST on the list, and Iowa and other Caucus joke states, YOU don't even count!)

His inference was unmistakable. The characterization of his comments was mine. And I stand by it.

From the House GOP's "Pledge to America":

...We will roll back government spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels, saving us at least $100 billion in the first year alone and putting us on a path to balance the budget and pay down the debt. We will also establish strict budget caps to limit federal spending from this point forward.

We will launch a sustained effort to stem the relentless growth in government that has occurred over the past decade. By cutting Congress’ budget, imposing a net hiring freeze on non-security federal employees, and reviewing every current government program to eliminate wasteful and duplicative programs, we can curb Washington’s irresponsible spending habits and reduce the size of government, while still fulfilling our necessary obligations.

Someone needs to explain to me how raising the debt limit does any of that.

Great list.

Can you give me a link to even one of those programs that the candidate in your tagline supports eliminating?

Just curious.
