Scientists discover explanation for why the Universe exists
Yahoo News ^ | 05/20/2010 | Michael Bolen

Physicists have long wondered why the universe exists when matter and anti-matter particles obliterate each other on contact.

But new data from a particle accelerator in the United States suggests a reason.

The tests showed that when anti-protons and protons collide, the resulting new particles show a one per cent skew toward matter over anti-matter. Over a long period of time, this characteristic of the universe could explain why matter has come to dominate over anti-matter.

"Many of us felt goose bumps when we saw the result," said Stefan Soldner-Rembold, a physicist at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.

"We knew we were seeing something beyond what we have seen before and beyond what current theories can explain."

Every basic particle of matter has a matching anti-particle. The anti-particle has the same mass as the standard particle, but an opposite electric charge. Anti-matter is not to be confused with dark matter.

While anti-matter has been demonstrated in numerous experiments, dark matter remains a hypothesis used to help explain the effects of mass which scientists cannot currently see.

The dark matter hypothesis helps to explain why the universe hasn't expanded into a cold and relatively motionless void. The extra mass, and resulting gravity, is the reason galaxies form into clumps rather than flying apart.

Particle accelerators, such as the Tevatron collider at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois, which conducted the tests, and the Large Hadron Collider at CERN on the Swiss-French border, use electric fields to smash particles into each other at incredibly high speeds.

one per cent skew toward matter

So we know the universe exists because of this one percent skew, but why is there a one percent skew? Science never really explains why anything, it just finds another cause. Why is the sky blue? Because shorter wavelengths are scattered more. Why are shorter wavelengths scattered more? And on, and on.

This is good research but the title is misleading, this answers HOW the universe exists, but not WHY.

The secular world of course still doesn’t know why, as far as they are concerned they leave it up to chance. One universe out of many that happened to connect an amazingly long string of lucky ‘dots’ to get to life and where we are today, from the first imperfections that allowed gravity to collect the remanents after the big bang and create all we see and so on all the way down to life.

Of course the simpler explanation is that God willed it to be so and these were his methods of creation, and so I always marvel as we learn more and more about just how amazing this universe is and just what kind odds lead eventually to us.

I mean just think about it the universe today is only 1% of the total content of that primordial singularity, the eniter universe basically in a pin head, I think that speaks far more of the power of God than trying to pigeon hole him into some artificial 6,000 year old timeline, I have more respect for God than that thank you.

It exists because of the need for peanut butter and jelly. Without those two items, there would be no need for the universe to exist.

Every basic particle of matter has a matching anti-particle.

Does this mean there's an anti-Obama existing somewhere? If that's so, no expense should be spared in order to find him!

OK, so applying the same method of examination; Why do protons and anti-protons exist?

We measure years as 365 Earth days. As there was no Earth at creation, the “days” must have been on God’s scale rather than on man’s. I dare say one of God’s days is surely longer than 24 Earth hours.

God created it a little over 6000 years ago. All the evidence we need is in the Bible.

And who creasted God? I think its Super God
or maybe mans brain.

God seperated Light (matter) from Dark (antimatter) and saw that it was good.

If you think the universe is only 6000 years old, you’re living in the Stone Age.

Now we just need an explanation for the 1% skew in creation of mater over anti-mater.

Perhaps they should have issued a disclaimer claiming their experiment contained a + or - 1% chance of inaccuracy......

Not all the stories in the Bible occurred within the 6000 year computation - much of it happened before the "counting" started. Besides, addition and subtraction had to be invented before the detailed analysis of Biblical time periods could be made, and addition is definitely a process external to the Bible itself. Sure, the word "add" is used, but the process isn't described ~ ergo, it's an externality.

The only acceptable conclusion is that if you rely only on internal Biblical material you can never come up with 6000 years, or even 198 years ~ you must first draw upon "manmade" techniques, to wit, addition.

Why didn’t they just ask Helen Thomas why it was created? She witnessed it.
