Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

If you spin any faster, your hair is going to come unglued from the follicles.

The fact is, PNSN, you took offense at dmw calling the departed MThatcher a 'crazy liberal'. Her actions last night certainly qualified as unbalanced, and some would certainly say (as did dmw) 'crazy'. You didn't like that, which is what triggered your premature exasperation.

As for whether or not I 'know' MThatcher, that isn't even germane to the subject at hand. She made a threat to both JimRob and to myself. She was behaving irrationally. She stomped off in an 8-cylinder huff. I say good riddance, you don't like that? Too bad, so sad.

If you wish to defend the indefensible, by all means, carry on. MThatcher might invite you to high tea for your troubles.

Well, he got off at least one more post, but he appears gone for now.

I can't really disagree with you post, but can't find your disagreement with mine.

Oh, sorry -- to be more clear, I don't think there are communist or D 'disruptors' leading this mob.

Anyone who can read Justice Kennedy’s words in that post and not be horrified and forever committed to ending such atrocities, desperately needs a heart transplant; of the spiritual kind.

Quit that ... I was trying to talk on the phone, and couldn't stop snickering. They probably thought I was nutso.

I haven't been here very long (maybe a year) but I don't really think FR has become all as bad as you think. I personally have reevaluated many of my long-held political beliefs based on discussions with other FReepers. Sometimes I come to the same conclusion as before, and other times I find opinion changing.

Based on your previous posts on this thread, I don't think I agree with you on many conservative/political issues, but that won't stop me from debating with you or within my own mind the merits of your viewpoint.

My point is, FR has given me the oppertunity to do this. It's not perfect, and of course it's not completely "open" to any and all opinions (it IS a conservative site), but it's still pretty darn good.

It was a group effort, we could thank some of those that helped it along, but alas, they are no longer with us.

I'm still here. Sore Loserman went from CPL Baum to me and others and then to you in those threads. You did a FAR better, cleaner job than I did, and that teardrop was a great addition (although, I didn't agree with it at first because I didn't get it). Mine simply had the original star. CPL Baum's was too small and the wrong colors. The others were also too small. That's why I came up with the larger one that was nearly identical to Gore's campaign sign. I have links to the thread if you don't remember. You definitely did a great job running with the ideas that WE all(L.N.Smithee, CPL Baum, massexodus, lowbridge, you, me, etc) came up with in those threads. Good job! Those were the days...

CPL Baum posted less than a year ago. MassExodus posted a little over a week ago. Lowbridge posted TODAY. L.N. Smithee, the guy that came up with Sore/Loserman idea in the first place, posted in this very thread. And it was a slam on Peach.

So, your work was good and we all put in a good effort in 2000. We WON!!! But your facts are wrong on the status of the FReepers who helped along with the Sore/Loserman effort. Most are still here and they're still conservative.

The mob is being allowed to 'shout down' anyone who doesn't think like them.

That's what happens when you are dealing with people who value emotion over reason.

Well, there’s the single issue ‘abortion is everything’ mindset. The rest include that along with other matters.

If you’re a single issue person, then a pro abortion stance, even a small one, will instantly mean you are shut off to anything else they say.

I’m a bit that way with the 2nd. Since that affects me personally. So I can sort of understand it.

As one who holds forth quite a bit over the years for civil dialogue, I understand the point you are trying to make.

The difference is that Jim didn't create his site to see it become a vehicle to promote a liberal Republican into the nomination. The media may express their bias by claiming that Rudy is the only Republican that "can win in 08" and certainly the occasional poster can claim that as their honest opinion, but to see the site heading down the trail of Rah-rah for Rudy ignoring conservative issues was too disgusting without a "hell no, we won't go" reply from Jim, IMHO.

This site isn't a business venture trying to be popular and agreeable. He sees the site as having a real impact whether it is populated with 20,000 viewers or 60,000 viewers. He isn't getting paid by the visit.

He blew up at quidnunc, but there is some history there, I imagine. He has snapped at me a time or two over the years.

This site is a personal creation. It is not set up as a theoretically precise internet virtual citizen senate.

And if that happens . . . if FR runs off everyone who sees things the way they really are . . . well, I'm just curious how this might all play out.

After following your recent posts...I have no idea why you are even on this site...

Did you see the locked out Al Simmons thread?

I don't know why you said it was locked out. I just posted to it, so it appears to be open. Hey, Al didn't even get booted for posting it, he had to beg Jim to let him go. I don't think ANYBODY is getting banned any more unless they lie about conservatives, curse the owner, or beg to be removed.
