Congress is about to LEGALIZE junk faxes
JunkFax.org ^

Junk Fax Prevention Bill of 2005 will actually LEGALIZE junk faxes. This bill passed out of committee on April 14, 2005 and now goes to the Senate floor for a vote which can happen at any time. It's being positioned as just "restoring" the status quo when in reality the EBR exemption is totally new.

Please call both your Senators to object to this bill immediately (instructions on the link).

If it were not for junk faxes I would feel lonely. I live for junk faxes. I read them assiduously while chomping on cheeseburgers. I wait for the next "junk" fax with baited eyes. Please do not deprive me of the only means of knowing other people care about me. They're the only ones, besides my creditors, who care. It feels good to be wanted, and I do not want congress to deprive me of my felt needs. Let them take my money and spend it on themselves instead.

Doesn't the law about to take effect say that fax spammers can't send you faxes unless you have given prior approval? I thought it takes affect in July? As it is now they can send the fax and you then have to contact the sender to be taken off of the list of recipients. Is this some new law being debated that is going to eliminate the prior approval requirement?

We got so many junk faxes that we turned off our fax machine we now use faxaway.com to receive all our faxes. It costs a whopping $1 per month. All faxes are forwarded as email in tif format. It is a long distant call for our clients but no one really cares. Most of our clients are moving to scanning and sending pdfs as email anyway.

That post made me cry. I couldn't stand the thought of you sitting in front of a silent fax while quietly chomping on cheeseburgers with a tear in your eye.

What's your fax number? I'm sure we could pick up the slack, because we care!

This bill adds "a brand new 'exemption' to the TCPA that was never there before to allow advertisers to legally send you advertising by fax WITHOUT your prior consent."

What's your fax number?

It's an eFax number (free of charge) that has been suspended due to too many junk faxes. Give me your fax number and I'll let the folks who offer free tissues know.

Send me your fax number.

I would, but I know your fax would turn me on to such a degree that you'd wish you'd never asked.
