[history]
February 7, 2004 -- The 11-year-old Florida girl whose kidnapping was caught on camera put up a desperate fight against her abductor before being killed, a source close to the investigation told The Post yesterday.
Carlie Brucia, whose body was found yesterday just a few miles from where she went missing, was kidnapped and brutally murdered by tattooed ex-con Joseph Smith, 37, police said.

Looks like a private matter between New Yorkers, she is from Lon Guyland and Smith is from Brooklyn. When will these people quit coming to Fla to do their crimes?
//tongue in cheek, to keep from crying...//

Too bad she didn't fight him when he grabbed her. Just kicking him and she could have ran and yelled or something.
But she was only 11 and probably scared.
I hope this guy fries and fries fast. Of course, liberal judges and the "blame no one" crowd and MORONS on juries that watch too much Oprah let this monster out time and time again.
It's getting to where I'm tempted to put on my Batman suit for real. I'm tired of these stories.
It's time to get rid of these judges one way or another...legally of course! (until I get my costume finished)

so the cops have him linked to that area where Carlie was found and also to the station wagon....
this will be an easy case, I think....dna will still be usable, there's the tape, and from what I read, some dna in his car.....
of course, we will get the predictable loud mouthed tv attorneys defending this guy and criticizing the cops for this or that....
we'll get the ususal anti death-penalty folk crying buckets over the "sad" and "disadvantaged" life of the perp.....funny how the victim is never "sad" or "disadvantaged"......

Oh God, this is sickening. Once these predators are proved guilty in a court of law by DNA, or other certifiable means (the camera) they should be executed immediately.
In September of 1953, little Bobby Greenlease was kidnapped from his school and murdered hours later. His folks paid the ransom. The kidnappers were caught the next day drinking in a bar. The were tried and found guilty and they were both executed in December of 1953.
Committed the crime in September and executed in December of the same year. THAT was justice. Look how it's changed over the course of 51 years, then try to tell me how civilized we are.

If Florida had a three-strikes law the pig that killed her would be locked up and this poor little girl would still be alive and well.
God help her poor family.

So sad, America was a great country back then, I can remember it was. Wish I could buy a ticket to it and go back there.

I had just learned to read really well, and I've never forgotten Bobby Greenlease's kidnapping. I remember the details as though it happened yesterday. May God rest his little soul.

If the cops saw him coming out of the wooded area 2 miles from where she disappeared and they were already aware that a child was missing, looks like they would have gotten off their duffs and at least went to check out the area! Duh!

Even the fires of Hell won't wash the blood of an innocent child off the murderers judges' and legislators' hands. They and their liberal ilk are to blame for the love affair with the "rights" of criminals. This guy's sentence should be carried out by the father of the victim if he desires...in any fashion, at any speed the father desires.

that's just it.....I don't thing at that time they knew it was a kidnapping....remember, it was just 3 or 4 hrs after the girl went missing, and initially they thought she might just be a runaway...
but I agree....it sounds too eerily like what happened to Marc Klaus's dtr....

Sarasota County Sheriff Capt. Jeff Bell said Smith ... "will pay the ultimate price for what he did to her." Not unless they turn him over to her Dad (or me).
But especially not if John F'ing Kerry has his way.

Look how it's changed over the course of 51 years, Indeed. I noticed what appeared to fresh wounds on the face of the perp when arrested. Carlie probably did that. The next step will be for the perp to sue Carlie's family for his personal injuries.

Out of whack is right. Aren't the judges who let him out morally culpable, at least? It's past time to make them legally culpable also.

What are the odds this guy was in a prison with a great weighlifting center? Just like the YMCA. I think the cons should be put on a 16 or 18 hour workday, chopping rock. Eliminate the cable tv and weightrooms.
