so the cops have him linked to that area where Carlie was found and also to the station wagon....
this will be an easy case, I think....dna will still be usable, there's the tape, and from what I read, some dna in his car.....
of course, we will get the predictable loud mouthed tv attorneys defending this guy and criticizing the cops for this or that....
we'll get the ususal anti death-penalty folk crying buckets over the "sad" and "disadvantaged" life of the perp.....funny how the victim is never "sad" or "disadvantaged"......

It would seem that the police officer who stopped him near the underpass remembered their stop and went back to look for Carlie's body.
This is reminicent of the Polly Klass case where a homeowner called the police because a car was on her property. The police arrived, questioned the kidnapper and let him go on his way. In defense of the police, they had no idea there was a kidnapping. I suspect the police officer who questioned Smith had no idea there'd been a kidnapping either. The video tape had not been made public yet.

This will be a tough one even for a lawyer to defend but you are right, I can just hear his lawyer now. There will be a hearty few anti-death penalty folks who will say he should not be executed for this crime but thank God he is in Florida.

I'd like to see an "execute within 12 months" Filth like this should die quickly, and not enjoy 10 years watching MTV.
