In 1912, a farmer found an unusual, ancient-looking limestone tablet in his field. It seemed to have an exotic language, that he’d never seen before, chiseled into its surface. Over the next 50 years, he showed the stone to family, friends, and even took it to the fair, hoping to find anyone that could decipher it, but no one ever could.
Fast forward to the late 1990's, and someone not only deciphered it, but tied it to the legend of Prince Madoc. As the story goes, Madoc sailed to North America from Wales, in the year 1170, 322 years before Christopher Columbus! And not only that, built an ancient castle in Southern Indiana!
This film covers the mysterious Brandenburg Stone, unexplained Roman coins found in Kentucky and Indiana, ruins of an ancient castle in southern Indiana, and Native American stories of “white Indians”, that lived along the Ohio River. This is the first film to fully explore this intriguing legend. The story has captivated Southern Indiana people for generations, and continues to this day!The Brandenburg Stone: Proof of the Prince Madoc Legend? (Southern Indiana) | 37:34

saying prehistoric people built the structures on Rose 13:25 · Island but true history is complicated a good 13:30 · place to live in the past is often a good place to live in a much later time 13:38 · prehistoric people and Prince madok could have both inhabited Rose Island 13:44 · but this was not the only sight hinting of Prince madok 13:50 · in 1875 near Deputy Indiana something curious was found at Wiggins point 13:59 · an ancient enormous wall 425 feet long was discovered it was over 14:06 · twice the size of the one at Rose Island 14:11 · however it suffered the same fate with Pioneers using the stones to build 14:17 · houses and other structures east of Deputy Indiana at the former 14:24 · Jefferson Proving Ground military site Roman coins were found 14:31 · to this day no one knows how they got there [Music] 14:38 · 1963 during the construction of new albany's Sherman Minton Bridge numerous 14:44 · Roman coins were found along the riverbank they were stacked in a pile as if once 14:53 · in a bag that had disintegrated hundreds of years ago 14:59 · made in the Roman Empire around 235 A.D there is no fully accepted explanation 15:06 · of how they got there yet another Roman coin was found at 15:12 · Stevens for Kentucky further west along the Ohio River 15:18 · dated between 286 and 305 A.D it begs the question was it brought here by 15:25 · Prince madok and his followers but while Roman coins and old Limestone 15:32 · walls told nothing Native Americans had plenty to say 15:42 · After the Revolutionary War General George Rogers Clark was given huge 15:48 · tracts of land in southern Indiana he settled along the Ohio river and in 15:55 · between running a gristville and writing his Memoirs explored this vast area 16:03 · just west of his cabin in the middle of the Ohio river is Sand Island 16:10 · upon this ancient mound of Earth he found thousands of human bones and 16:15 · skulls they were scattered all over the island something terrible had happened 16:21 · there a long time ago spoke with a Pianka Shaw Chief asking if 16:29 · he knew what happened Chief tobacco said that the White Indians once lived on Sand Island 16:36 · they were tall had golden hair blue eyes and took over the region they were not 16:43 · liked by the other tribes two tribes ended up banding together and 16:50 · killing every last man woman and child of the White Indians their last stand 16:56 · being at Sand Island Major John Harrison also saw this large 17:02 · scattering of Bones as if some chaotic and Savage battle had happened here 17:09 · could the White Indians that were described be the legendary Prince madok and his European followers 17:18 · both General Clark and Major Harrison wrote about Sand Island skeletons in 17:24 · their journals One account states that General Clark also discovered ancient armor as founded 17:31 · Jeffersonville Utica and Louisville but most peculiar is that one of the 17:39 · skulls was taken to Louisville for analysis the conclusion of Dr Beckwith was that 17:45 · the ancient skull was not that of an Indian 17:51 · on October 26 1803 George Rogers Clark's brother William Clark and Meriwether 17:59 · Lewis left Clarksville Indiana to explore lands obtained in the Louisiana 18:04 · Purchase [Music] team of skillful and capable woodsmen 18:10 · they traveled the Ohio River West and onward to the Pacific Ocean 18:17 · along the way they met many indigenous tribes one being the Mandan people in 18:24 · 1804 the mandans were very hospitable and accommodating so much so that all 18:31 · the Explorers stayed the winter at their Village [Music] 18:37 · during this time they learned a great deal about the mandas but they also noticed some very peculiar 18:44 · other things some were Fair skirt with blue or gray 18:51 · eyes some even had blonde hair which was very puzzling 18:57 · in many ways they were much like Europeans and mannerisms customs and the 19:04 · way they looked this would be noticed and documented by others 19:10 · In 1832 George Catlin an American author and painter traveled to the mandans and 19:17 · painted their portraits he also noticed striking similarities of 19:25 · the mandan's to Europeans in his lifetime he painted over 1 000 19:32 · Native American portraits he also published two volumes describing 19:39 · their mannerisms and customs based upon what he learned he was convinced that 19:45 · the mandans were descendants of prince madok in the mounting evidence was more 19:51 · than Skin Deep [Music] the first was that mandan's used A 19:58 · peculiar type of boat fully unlike other Native Watercraft 20:04 · instead of a canoe made for a line of occupants 20:09 · their boats were circular a near perfect reproduction of ancient Welsh boats 20:14 · called coracles 20:20 · the second was that Mandan homes were constructed much like the ancient Welsh 20:26 · with low rounded roofs but perhaps the most spectacular were 20:32 · claims that many words were either similar or identical to the ancient 20:37 · Welsh language president Thomas Jefferson will lead the 20:43 · madok legend he even asked Lewis and Clark to look for these Welsh speaking 20:48 · people and document whatever they found and they did 20:56 · LaSalle had documented the natives in Tennessee with European traits mannerisms and artifacts 21:03 · but after he was murdered in 1687 his journal disappeared 21:11 · in his later years General Clark wrote quite a bit about his military service 21:16 · days on the frontier in his life in Southern Indiana including the strange story of Sand 21:23 · Island in finding ancient armor after a severe stroke he lived with his 21:30 · sister and brother-in-law in Louisville after he died his writings were 21:37 · transferred back to Indiana where he had lived for most of his adult life 21:44 · journal with these incredible details restored at the Charlestown public library for anyone to view and study 21:54 · however a large section of the journal was ripped out and stolen leaving no 21:59 · mention of Sand Island or ancient armor his brother William Clark had a detailed 22:07 · Journal that described the Expedition out west but it too suffered a similar fate 22:14 · there's no record of the prince madok connection anywhere in the journal 22:21 · major Harrison's account of Sand Island which backed up General clerks is 22:26 · missing and the skull found on Sand Island verified by a doctor to be not of 22:32 · an Indian is also missing and all the bones and skulls on Sand 22:38 · Island seen by George Rogers Clark and Major Harrison however many there were 22:44 · were cleared Away by the great flood of 1937. it was so powerful that it Swept Away 22:52 · entire towns let alone the top soil of an Ohio River 22:57 · Island what evidence that was disappeared as if 23:04 · it never existed some would say they never existed at all 23:10 · what others say all were deliberately and purposely erased from history 23:17 · but intriguing Clues still remained and they were just across the river 23:28 · in 1784 John philson produced the first map of Kentucky and presented it to the 23:35 · United States Congress in his own right he was a well-respected surveyor 23:40 · Explorer historian and author not to mentioned one of the founders of 23:46 · Cincinnati Ohio in the same year he also published a 23:51 · Monumental book on Kentucky history it was called the discovery settlement 23:58 · and present state of Kentucky during his research he called a meeting 24:05 · with General George Rogers Clark Major John Harrison and Colonel James Moore he 24:11 · wanted to discuss the prince madok Legend and what they'd seen and experienced along the Ohio River 24:18 · he got a lot more than he bargained for the three men recounted seeing a massive 24:25 · amount of Bones on the diamond-shaped piece of land known as Sand Island 24:31 · individually they told how local tribes gave all of them the same story about a 24:37 · Mass Attack on these white Indians Colonel Moore told how the Carnage 24:43 · seemed to continue to the Indiana side of the Ohio River there were thousands of ancient bones 24:49 · found all over the shoreline covered in a layer of silt 24:55 · in fact the entire Ohio River Greenway along the Falls of the Ohio was once a 25:02 · gigantic graveyard but just four years later in 1788 while 25:08 · exploring the Miami River in Ohio John philson disappeared 25:13 · it was assumed that he was killed by hostile Indians but his body was never 25:18 · found the Filson Historical Society in 25:23 · Louisville is named in his honor these hallowed Halls contain a large 25:30 · collection of history and perhaps hidden on a Dusty archived Shelf 25:36 · tantalizing details of the prince madok Legend 25:41 · the Filson is a temple of knowledge and has space for serious researchers it 25:47 · includes a copy of Ruben Durant's traditions of the earliest visits of 25:52 · foreigners to North America publication number 23. 25:57 · all told the Filson collection contains over 2.1 million documents books photos 26:05 · and other physical artifacts relating to Kentucky history [Music] 26:11 · however what decisions were made about the prince madok Legend and John 26:17 · philson's findings after his death are unknown 26:23 · while the Filson seems transparent about its collection other societies and 26:28 · institutions may not be to be clear the Filson was not started 26:34 · by John philson but created in his honor in 1884 nearly 100 years after his death 26:43 · what details were couched and what truths made it to the light of day is a 26:49 · matter of controversy and conspiracy discussions 26:54 · some gates were made for keeping things out while others to keep things in 27:00 · some say the gates of proper institutions keep bad information from the public 27:06 · others say we should be allowed what's available and make our own conclusions 27:13 · and there was much more to consider in the form of an ancient text translated 27:18 · from Delaware Indians 27:24 · in 1820 two years after George Rogers Clark passed away Dr Ward treated a 27:31 · Native American from the Delaware tribe the Delaware or Lenape man provided Dr 27:38 · Ward with curious pieces of wood they had carved and painted symbols on the 27:44 · surface in 1822 French researcher botanist an 27:51 · expert on ancient cultures Constantine Samuel rafanesque obtained these 27:57 · petroglyphs and began deciphering their meaning 28:02 · he completed a detailed translation by 1836 and published a book of the 28:08 · findings called the American nations these petroglyphs known as the Whalum 28:16 · olum detailed the ancient history of the Delaware people and not only that the 28:22 · story of the White Indians it confirmed everything that Clark Harrison and Moore had told John philson 28:30 · ancient white people that were murdered along the Ohio River 28:37 · for over 100 years this book was accepted by educational institutions as 28:43 · an accurate assessment of Native American culture it even detailed crossing of the Bering 28:51 · Strait to North America from Asia in the 1950s the Indiana Historical 28:59 · Society with funding from Eli Lilly Jr edited and republished rafanesque work 29:05 · calling it a worthy subject for students of Aboriginal culture 29:12 · Eli Lilly had spent decades researching Indiana's ancient past he worked with 29:18 · Glenn black to excavate the angel Mound site at Evansville and other sites of 29:23 · antiquity he thoroughly believed the Whalum olum to be genuine 29:29 · [Music] but later Scholars strongly criticized the work from various angles calling it 29:36 · an outright fraud either purposely done or translated with bad information given 29:42 · to the author however many researchers including 29:48 · Delaware descendants today support its authenticity 29:54 · laying in the balance of the prince madok Legend was the Brandenburg Stone 30:03 · at Brandenburg Kentucky Craig Casillas had spent over 50 years trying to find 30:09 · anyone that could read the strange Stone found on his property 30:15 · in 1965 Craig entrusted John Whitfield with the stone 30:22 · as the Meade County Library trustee John felt it had historic significance and 30:29 · the eyes of an expert could answer many questions the Smithsonian was contacted an 30:36 · archaeologist were invited to examine it by 1973 the professional consensus it 30:46 · was not writing at all but natural weathering 30:51 · the stone remained at the Meade County Library even if it was natural weathering it still had historical 30:58 · significance for Brandenburg but the story was far from being over 31:06 · in 1995 it was loaned to the Falls of the Ohio museum at Clarksville Indiana 31:12 · not far from George Rogers Clark's home site and Sand Island itself 31:20 · in 1998 British researchers Alan Wilson and brim blackett translated the stone 31:27 · not without controversy they decoded it using a translation 31:34 · system developed by Edward Williams in the 1800s it was known as coil Brin 31:42 · with that in hand the stone said towards strength divide the land we are spread 31:48 · over purely between Offspring and wisdom it was both obscure and definitive 31:55 · perhaps describing ancient settlement along the river by an ancient Welsh 32:01 · Prince and his followers but the translation was clouded by 32:07 · Edward Williams himself born in 1747 Williams had founded a 32:13 · Welsh secret society he used his knowledge of Welsh language 32:19 · an ancient Druid culture to create the coil brand translator 32:26 · members of his esoteric Welsh secret society used it to create secret 32:32 · messages while he considered it derived from ancient Welsh and Druid language 32:37 · others called it a completely made-up language at best a few hundred years old 32:46 · While others said the Brandenburg Stone was in fact ancient and the coil brand 32:52 · translator had done its job 1999 the Falls of the Ohio museum 32:59 · presented an exhibit about Ohio River Legends which included the Brandenburg 33:06 · Stone the displays also spoke of other unusual 33:11 · finds including numerous Roman coins found in Kentucky and Indiana 33:18 · for many Southern the Charlestown 33:36 · Clark County Public Library where the journals of General Clark were once 33:41 · located but in 2012 it made its way back to 33:47 · Brandenburg where it started its long Cool. Thanks.
My pleasure, and thanks for the kind remarks.

I recall (probably a SunkenCiv thread) a story about the “first” white explorers of the St. Lawrence Seaway. The indians had stories of a city of gold somewhere to the north. And stories of a one-legged giant (or dwarf or troll or something).
The story of the one-legged giant was similar to the story told in Europe (British isles?). The historians surmised that the St. Lawrence Seaway was visited often (yearly?) by European fishermen. And perhaps they either figured it wasn’t a “new” land, or they wanted to keep their abundant fishing grounds a secret? I think the indians might have had stories about the white fishermen as well?
Interesting.
There are many reasons and ways for destroying true history.
The rock in the picture looks newly inscribed not a piece of limestone inscribed several hundred years ago.
Fascinating. I have not heard of this before now. I watched the video.
It’s curious that documentation was stolen, and Roman coins were found, the natural disaster and unwitting destruction all add to the mystery.
And then there’s the Lewis and Clark tie-in….
I know someone who is a descendent of either Lewis or Clark, I forget which one. I’ll have to ask him about this next time I see him.
Very strange.
There is something truly sad about a culture so hungry for a sense of self-importance that they are willing to continually fabricate such rubbish. Leave a Yankee alone with a chisel on a Pacific island somewhere below the equator and he’ll “find” the final will of Harald Hardrada bequeathing his whole kingdom to his descendant who is predestined to find the stone. All of these things are grotesquely obvious fakes. The Heavener stones, the Kinsington “runestone”, they all follow in the Joseph Smith groove of just making up stuff.
One of my ancestors was a Welshman named Madog.
I am descended from Prince Madoc
Thanks. Very enlightening.
Not just the subject matter, but its damnation of such monuments of American science and history as the Smithsonian Institute. It clearly shows its abject thievery of our true history, apparently to fit its agendas.
This video alone should be enough for Congress to investigate the Smithsonian Institute, its actions and its cover ups, as well as hidden information and artifacts that it may still be housing. We have the right to know the truths they systematically hide from us.
