...Consumers, men in particular, must be made to feel worthless. They have to be reminded that their needs and desires are wrong under any circumstances, that their instincts are loathsome, that their very existence is a malignancy, and that they're responsible for all the world's ills whether they want to admit it or not.
Now give them your money, you piece of garbage.
But hey, maybe I was wrong. Maybe this was a good idea. How is it working out for Gillette? Douglas Ernst, Washington Times:
Gillettes infamous toxic masculinity ad may cost Procter & Gamble more than anyone imagined in January.
The year that Gillette launched its We Believe campaign and asked Is this the best a man can get? has coincided with P&Gs $8 billion non-cash writedown for the shaving giant.
That's 8 billion. With a b.

When woke leads toward broke. I am amazed at their stupidity. Must be democRATs leading the company.
The article is a little misleading. It sounds like a tax maneuver such that P&G gets to defer paying taxes on current income. Gillette’s fairly expensive as razor blades go. Someone who buys Gillette over cheaper substitutes presumably feels they’re worth the extra money. I don’t see the value, but then again, I don’t drink Starbucks either, and they’re prospering.
No more razors for me anymore.
Maybe they can now use the Marlboro Man.
Who the #$#$ thought that was a GOOD idea?!?!?!!
“Hey, let’s insult EVERY SINGLE MAN on the planet!! That should send sales skyrocketing!!”
I haven’t bought them since.
God knows how much they’ve lost on one person in a year.
Times millions.
They’re not stupid. They want to make money in the long run. It’s a mystery to me, but I’ll take a stab at it. Like Nike, they see growth in the anti-American global market. The good news is that their predictive models show that American patriotism will be alive and well into the near future. The bad news is they see an ever growing, ever more prosperous anti-American majority in the wider world.
It’s amazing that people make 7 figure salaries to make stupid mistakes like that. It will continue to happen. Just look at Colin Kapernick. Actually he’s smart. Can’t play so he takes down the league with him after he’s made millions. Still the NFL could have turned off the cameras during the national anthem while they were kneeling. Shows how much brains they have.
I’ve been a Gillete razor guy my entire adult life. Their outrageous “social Justice” ads revolted me. I threw away my Gillette razor, went to Walmart and bought myself a nice (and inexpensive) BIC three blade razor.
Screw ‘em.
Went to Schick - actually gives a better shave than Gillette - as if I needed a reason not to go back....
They're getting what they didn't expect.
Fewer "toxic" male customers.
been using this 3-blade razor from the 99c store and Im a big fan of it. never even miss Gillette and their faggot blades..
Bic.
I wish I could find a Schick that work as well for me as the Gillette Mach 3 (for sensitive skin). I have a combination of thick hair and skin that irritates easily. Normally I shave every 3-5 days to minimize the buildup of very irritated skin. Been that way for 45+ years of shaving.
I despise Gillette for their latest marketing cr@p, but until I find something as good (or better) than the Mach 3, I won't be switching.
The good news is I purchased a bunch with coupons and sales a few years ago (less than $3 per 3-pack), so I won't need to decide until I run out in the next year or two.
Throwing the razors away won't do me any good, and Gillette already has my money. Future purchases are a different matter.
A loyal Gillette customer for 53 years and now: no more. I know it’s a small protest but I know it adds up.
Same here - Schick Quattro Titanium. More comfortable shave and less expensive.
Don’t let them write off their loss. It was a deliberate stunt.
Hey ! They insulted us MARRIED MEN too.....
:-)
