The faces of disaster through the ages are legion, and the dusty places of archaeological digs in Israel have been no exception, as archaeologists at the Tel Gezer excavation site in central Israel will tell you after they encountered 3,200-year-old skeletal remains of three individuals.
As they were conducting excavations during the summer of 2017, traces of human bones emerged as they dug within a stratum that evidenced a fiery destruction. They were articulated skeletons. The archaeologists could see that one of them, an adult, whose remains were badly decomposed and burned, was lying with hands over the head. The bones of a child, whose remains were also burned and badly decomposed, were also found. And finally, as they were closing down the season, they found the remains of yet a third individual, an adult, whose bones were significantly better preserved. This person, it appeared, was lying in a fetal-like position, as if to defend against the falling debris of surrounding collapsing walls, the stones and mud-brick of which still lay atop the skeleton when archaeologists encountered it. The physical circumstances of the remains clearly suggested that these were not intended burials.
According to co-directors Dr. Steven Ortiz of the Tandy Institute for Archaeology and Dr. Sam Wolff of the Israel Antiquities Authority and colleagues, they were likely inhabitants of the city, likely Canaanite at this time, that fell in a conflagration during the onslaught of Egyptian armed forces under Pharaoh Merenptah, ancient Egypt's famous fourth ruler during the Nineteenth Dynasty.

Well that shoots down the Palestinians’ claims that they were there before the Hebrews. Caananites - one of the earliest identified peoples/tribes in the area but listed in the old testament as enemies of the Hebrews (again no Palestinians, no Yassir Arafat, no Abbas).
Sad. Neither Megalomaniac nor the Middle East have changed in thousands of years.
“archaeologists could see that one of them, an adult, whose remains were badly decomposed...”
Well, duh.
War is part of the human condition. Youre right, it is sad.
As is the universal desire for man to desire to rule over other men.
But these maladies are not limited to the Middle East. They exist where ever men exist. They are part of mans make up.
The Zulu were warriors as were the Celts and the Vikings. North and South of the equator men make war on each other.
Neither has mankind in general. Our thoughts are still evil from the day of our birth.
;)
I know all about the Zulus. Once more I am white Christian European, not black.
Bit the kind of murderous fighting that has always occurred in the Middle East eclipses most other places.
I think it is because of geography right where Europe, Asia and Africa meet.
Someone did a study of major battle sites and they seem to be clustered in the very same areas. The Balkans is another hot spot.
2 Samuel 11:1 - In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army.
Ah, its spring again......
Sadly, in modern times it is always spring as far war is concerned.
Thanks for posting that!
My pleasure.
