Of course. There was a point where they had a choice to either walk away or prostitute themselves to see their names on theater marquees. Game was more important than virtue.
A local talk radio host , Brice Elliott at WCBM in Baltimore claimed that any of these women NOW coming forward with accusations of sexual harassment and even rape are no better than a prostitute who stands on the street corner waiting for the Johns to pay them for sex . His rational is that these Weinstein victims kept quiet only so they could advance their careers and make the big money . To them it was all about the money and they would rather over look their victimization for more money and future opportunities . He said what’s the difference between the prostitute doing it for money and the actresses excusing it for the money and fame .
When he first started out with his comparison I thought he’s really going to get a load of negative responses from his listeners but that was not the case , instead many callers supported his rational .
Don't be so naive.
That's a measure of the depravity and desperation in the business. And an insight into what acting is really about - lying to someone in a believable, entertaining way. All your great actresses, and great prostitutes, can make you believe.
Both can suffer from morning-after remorse, and get cranky if they don't get paid.
I[’m pretty sure Jolie, Paltrow and Judd qualify as A list.
Rose McGowan has always been wild and loud and screechy
Nice bod though
Doesn’t mean she is lying but I bet she’s digging it
The chance for getback
And most importantly acceptance
Actors crave that
I am not sure what your point is.
If this has been going on for 90 years does that make it right?
If this happened to your daughter would you counsel her that this is just the way it is?
I really don’t care who the women are. The stories of the behavior is criminal. What does surprise me is that no one’s significant other did not break his elbows.
In the late 1800’s actors were on the same level as prostitutes...they still are, they just don’t walk the streets.
Despicable and false.
Sharon Stone is on record saying she didnt have to hit the couch anymore after achieving success.
your basic premise is false.
exactly.
the only ones that are mad are those that slept with him but didn’t get famous. The famous ones got what they wanted out of him.
I did notice a similarity between weinstein and weiner. The first four letters of their names are the same.
Goofball premise.
F yes, the big shot women who worked with Harvey were raped or voluntarily submitted to him in some way. THEY HAVE BEEN USED AS BAIT by both Harvey (naming them to his new victims, as where they could be in their career if they submitted) and as cold comfort after the fact when they told their friends. Theyd be told that Hey, its what youve got to do in this biz, look at [famous A list actress] , she went through it, shes doing fine now...
And because they stayed quiet, he raped hundreds more. So they arent popping up to explain how they chose $ and fame over sisterhood and feminism and protecting younger women. They think they are great people but they are not.
True confession: I waited too long to come forward on my abuser and many more were abused by him as well, partly my fault. I was just a kid and I did not know he went to to do others. But still. I feel the responsibility. What if I could have done something?
They’re all white.
Dozens of women, maybe hundreds over a 35-year career, threw themselves at Weinstein in hopes that his attention could help them. He’s not in trouble for that, as ugly as that it is. He’s in trouble because he was such a pig that all those gorgeous, willing women weren’t enough for him. He loved to ask for it from women who weren’t offering, and he at least from time to time he used to take from those who said no after he asked.
How it was done in 1950 in Hollywood.
How it always was done.
