Has anyone noticed something a bit odd about the actresses accusing Harvey Weinstein?

The trash talk TV floodgates have burst wide open with women who now accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment. But has anyone noticed something very odd about this group. With a few rare (and aging… or aged… or very aged) A-listers, the accusers are all women who never succeeded in Hollywierd.

We are hearing nothing from the major movie actresses, and I think the reason is obvious. These women, now household names, did what aspiring actresses (and actors) have done for 90 years. When they were fighting for roles early in their careers, and all the others up for the roles were willing to go down for anyone in the casting system, they did the Horizontal Mambo too.

And of course, once they were into the system, they couldn’t suddenly become reconstituted virgins and stop “laying down on the job.”

The reason they are not complaining now? They are still active and don’t want to be thought of as simply very high paid, very beautiful, and somewhat talented women (and men) who sold their bodies for dollars and fame.

Or if they are War Criminal Jane Fonda, who claims she just learned about Weinstein a year ago, they also don’t want the world to know these “Women’s Rights Champions” were willing to stay silent, not tell the world what they did to get their movie roles, and sacrificed the next generations of their sisterhood for their own fame and fortune,

They’re all hookers. Only the price is different.

F yes, the big shot women who worked with Harvey were raped or voluntarily submitted to him in some way. THEY HAVE BEEN USED AS BAIT by both Harvey (naming them to his new victims, as where they could be in their career if they submitted) and as “cold comfort” after the fact when they told their friends. They’d be told that “Hey, it’s what you’ve got to do in this biz, look at [famous A list actress] , she went through it, she’s doing fine now...”

And because they stayed quiet, he raped hundreds more. So they aren’t popping up to explain how they chose $ and fame over “sisterhood and feminism and protecting younger women.” They think they are great people but they are not.

True confession: I waited too long to come forward on my abuser and many more were abused by him as well, partly my fault. I was just a kid and I did not know he went to to do others. But still. I feel the responsibility. What if I could have done something?

Not that you're necessarily wrong but I just want to say that I disagree with your certainty. It is also possible, just as it is in my business, that the ones who "never made it" are the most likely to make noise about such things, lie, and do other things (accuse, blame, levy lawsuits,) to get attention.

Predators go where they have easy access to prey. Pedophiles go into jobs where they have time alone with children. Men who want to have the power to make attractive women submit to them, try to get into positions where they can dangle carrots to them.

It is even worse with child actors. They look bright and happy and innocent, and the machine that their parents feed them into is anything but.

Let’s hope it’s getting better. I was just on the location set of a current tv show and the 9 year old girl actress had her mother NEXT TO HER EVERY SECOND. She was a sweet well rounded child in real life. No parent should allow their actor child to be away from them for 1second period. This should be part of child labor laws NOW. NO GUARDIANS. NO TEACHERS (even when being taught, parent must be present). An actual parent present every second of work or wait on set.

I've never understood the negative connotation associated with the word 'whore'. How is it that beautiful women who use natural gifts to advance their economic/social prospects any different from professional athletes?

Why are men who leverage their 1:million unique skills & talents admired, while the "fairer sex" is criticized? Again, why is running a 40 in order to make a team roster somehow virtuous, but the same performance type of (physical) test in a different arena is somehow condemned?

And why are people seemingly surprised that an industry uses these attributes as a form of currency? Has everyone here just fallen off the turnip truck? Do the rich and powerful from throughout history settle for anything less than a 10? Do women in a beauty pageant object? Bride show anyone?

Very true. They did it for fame and money. They inadvertently hurt others. They could have stopped the Harveys but their money and fame was more important to them than being a good person. THAT IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH.

They are no feminists. They are not good people like they pretend to be.

Over the years since my abuse as a minor, I wondered about my abuser, if he abused his own children, if he abused other children since I did find out he was still in a unique position of authority over children. I understood the statute of limitations had run out for me and I did not proceed nor know how to. I should have. He was finally busted for current cases but the trial led nowhere even with grotesque circumstantial evidence. They never used my info, maybe it wouldn’t have helped. He got a wrist slap and his name on the Pedo list is all.

Weinstein is a monster. He could have been stopped if victims had come forward. Some were threatened with bodily harm. But you must admit, some were only threatened with career harm. And some went on to huge fame and Hollywood power. AND STILL SAID NOTHING. Admit that if Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon, and Angelina Jolie had had a powerful surprise press conference twenty years ago, telling about experiences that happened to THEM and mentioned others (not naming them in the presser, but having stories from others remaining anonymous for the presser), HARVEY WOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED EARLIER.

Only when victims come forward are predators stopped.

I am one of the people who should have come forward about an abuser and children may have been hurt because I didn’t. And I didn’t KNOW he was still abusing, while Meryl et al KNEW DAMN WELL Harvey was still abusing.
