One of the things that has troubled me the most about Donald Trump is his lack of emotional maturity. Unlike a reality TV show host, it is vital that the President of the United States be very grown up and mature. But Trump, time and time again, acts like a child, name calling, holding grudges, and crying when things don't go his way. Case in point, the Iowa caucuses. On election night Trump grudgingly congratulated Ted Cruz. But now he's saying that Cruz "stole" the Iowa Caucuses by repeating a news report that Ben Carson was about to leave the...

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump is already looking ahead to forming his top White House team and is considering one of his sons as the head of the Interior Department. In an interview with Petersen's Hunting, he offered both his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, as the cabinet secretary because they are hunters and anglers and members of key conservation and Second Amendment groups. In the interview with editor Mike Schoby, Trump said that "ideally" he wants an outdoorsman to run the agency that manages federal land. "Ideally yes, they'd be better at it," said Trump. In the interview with...

Up until this week, pretty much everyone would have said that they liked Ben Carson, and that he was clearly a nice, decent man - regardless of whether they thought voting for him for President was a good idea or not. His response to the "going to Florida" controversy has revealed a completely different side of Ben Carson that we never really knew existed before. I just had a chance to sit down and watch the entire Ben Carson presser from yesterday about the nontroversy and it is one of the most galling things I have ever seen. Carson spent...

In the aftermath of Monday's Iowa caucus results, political pundits have had plenty to ponder. One of the biggest headlines of the night was Ted Cruz's resounding defeat of Donald Trump, the unconventional front-runner widely expected to win in the state. Some blamed Trump's second-place finish on his decision to skip last week's debate, which not only gave his competitors an extra chance to address voters but gave some Iowans the impression that they had been "snubbed" by the billionaire candidate. Syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh, however, had a different hypothesis, asserting Tuesday on his program that he does not...

I have another idea... Mark Levin·Wednesday, February 3, 2016 . Oh, ok, Trump demands that Iowa nullify its election, thereby disenfranchising the record number of citizens who turned out to vote. I have another idea. Maybe we should change the primary process and just keep holding state elections until Trump wins. The truth is Trump's personal attacks on Ben Carson did more to drive down Carson's numbers in Iowa than anything else. But it's nice to know Trump's new concern for Carson's supporters.

Donald Trump was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2013. He'd been involved with professional wrestling for over a quarter century. At first his interest was on the business side, because so many of the events were held at his hotels. But then he began appearing in the ring as an actual character. His greatest moment came in 2007 with the pay-per-view series called "Battle of the Billionaires," when he verbally went up against the WWE's chief executive, Vince McMahon. The feud started when Trump interrupted McMahon on Fan Appreciation Night and upstaged him by raining...

To listen to a number of folks in the media, Marco Rubio's third place finish in Iowa is just as good as finishing first. But bronze, no matter how you polish and spin it, ain't never gonna be gold. Rubio was always expected to come in third, as evidenced by the fact that his own campaign was promoting their "3-2-1" strategy to the media only a few weeks ago. Meaning they hoped to place third in Iowa, second in New Hampshire, and first in South Carolina. No matter. The real story isn't the brainwashing prowess of Rubio's communications team; the...

Let's get back to basics here and wake up from fever dreams. Ted Cruz won Iowa and did it impressively. The final turnout was 186,289, of which Cruz received 27.72 percent, or 51,646 votes. If the turnout had been lower, say 135,000, a number that Decision Desk founder Brandon Finnigan was more comfortable with, Cruz would have had over 30 percent of the vote. In any case, Iowa Republicans smashed their 2012 caucus attendance record to smithereens, besting it by 64,000 voters. The models and polls (including the vaunted Ann Selzer) all showed Trump winning big in that scenario. In...

First Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump at a time she had negative 11% favorables with the GOP. Then she missed the first event of the day following her endorsement. Then she blamed her son being involved in a domestic incident on Barack Obama's treatment of veterans, turning off a lot of veterans in the process by suggesting those who came back from overseas were no longer able to control themselves and were not culpable for their actions. Then she went to a Trump rally the day of the election with tons of undecided voters and started attacking Congressman Steve King,...

Donald Trump does everything in a big way. Even losing. Not only did he lose to Ted Cruz in Iowa, but he came very close to a humiliating third place behind Marco Rubio. As recently as yesterday Donald Trump was saying he wanted to win in Iowa, and if he didn't, that it would all have been a big waste of time. "Unless I win, I would consider this a big, fat, beautiful-and, by the way, a very expensive-waste of time," Trump said this weekend, speaking to supporters during a whirlwind tour of Iowa. Well, I guess it was a...

There's an interesting piece from Vox's John B. Judis pointing out just how similar Donald Trump's positions are with the ones of Bernie Sanders. There's going to be a fair amount of consternation between both Trump and Sanders' supporters, who really don't want to be associated with each other, on this but Vox thinks there's plenty of crossover between the two. The first is, you guessed it, populism but it goes even deeper than that: Sanders is a left-wing populist. He wants to defend the "collapsing middle class" against the "billionaire class" that controls the economy and politics. He is...

Donald Trump went after Ted Cruz in an interview today, calling him "a total liar" for saying that Mr. Trump supports universal health care similar to ObamaCare. "Look, Ted Cruz is a total liar," Mr. Trump responded. "I am so against ObamaCare." Trump was then asked, "You say that Ted Cruz is a liar, but you have said that you want everyone to be covered on health care and the government's going to pay for it. How is that not ObamaCare?" "Well, that's true," Mr. Trump answered. "I want people taken care of. I have a heart. I want people...

Research from the polling firm Gallup has found that Donald Trump is the "most unpopular candidate" for president in either major party - both in this election and all the way back to 1992. Trump's unfavorable rating currently stands at 60 percent, which is substantially higher than that of any of his Republican rivals. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush is at 45 percent, and everyone else is even lower: Chris Christie is at 38 percent, Ted Cruz is at 37 percent, Marco Rubio is at 33 percent, and the reliably likable Ben Carson is only at 30 percent. In the...

During the Thursday night debate, GOP candidate Marco Rubio refused to back away from his often-stated desire to go to war with Syrian-president Bashar al-Assad - a step that even Israel, which has been targeted by Assad, does not suggest. Rubio lamented President Obama's request for authorization to use force against Assad because the assault would have been "unbelievably small," according to Rubio as he disapprovingly quoted John Kerry. This brought to mind a minor but poignant event in Cold War history. When asked to comment on the idea of invading China at a time when most Americans knew our...

Coincidentally, the media is lying in order to help Trump beat on Ted Cruz while the GOP establishment is jumping on board with the Donald campaign. To listen to the mainstream media, Ted's late 2015 surge is over, and he's on the way down. That's why nobody is reporting this PA primary poll showing him cut Trump's lead by NINE points: It shows that most of his increase came at the expense of Ben Carson, who lost 17 points. The vast majority went to Cruz while Trump gained only one percentage point. Here's more complete from the poll:pa poll primary...

I keep hearing from supporters of other GOP candidates that Ted Cruz canât win the general election because he is too conservative and too preachy. These same people criticize him for not being authentically conservative and also support others who are preachy. I have long lamented the conventional wisdom, swallowed whole by many nominally conservative Republicans, that a true-blue consistent conservative canât win a general presidential election because he can't attract moderates, centrists, independents, Perotistas, Trumpsters, disaffected Democrats and certainly not women or minorities. Why is that the accepted thinking, when Ronald Reagan won in two landslides and the moderate...

Rather than going directly to veterans groups, 100% of online donations on Trump's pro-veterans site will go directly to Trump's personal foundation. After ducking the final Republican presidential debate heading into next week's Iowa caucuses, GOP front-runner Donald Trump announced that he would hold his own pro-veterans event during the debate to raise money for veterans. Trump even set up a special website to solicit donations to help veterans. "Honor their valor," the website, donaldtrumpforvets.com, states. "Donate now to help our Veterans." The website, which is nothing more than a single page with stock photos and a credit card donation...

In a statement following his announcement that he would not be participating in tonight's GOP debate on Fox News, Donald Trumpâs campaign said, "[He will] host an event in Iowa to raise money for the Veterans and Wounded Warriors, who have been treated so horribly by our all talk, no action politicians." This morning, Ben Ferguson contrasted that with statements the real estate tycoon made in 1991 and 2004, when he tried to get homeless and disabled veterans kicked off of Fifth Avenue in front of the famed Trump Tower. Trump is decrying "all talk, no action politicians" now just...

Donald Trump says he's skipping the final debate before the Iowa caucuses on Thursday night because he's upset with Fox News and debate moderator Megyn Kelly. Trump will instead hold a "special event to benefit veterans organizations" in Iowa, according to a campaign press release. But the event could come off as a cheap political stunt exploiting veterans, especially because the Donald J Trump Foundation has been far from generous to veterans organizations over the years. As Emily Canal of Forbes reported in October: "The Donald J. Trump Foundation has donated $5.5 million to 298 charities between 2009 and 2013...

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) backpedaled Wednesday after joking that, among the current Republican presidential field, he's considering backing Donald Trump for the nomination. "Look, we've gotten along fine," the Democratic leader told reporters. "With that bunch of people running, I'm kind of pulling for him." Reid made the remark after the GOP front-runner touted his ability to work with top Democrats in Congress, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), expected to be the next Senate Democratic leader. Asked about Trump's statement, Reid added, "Oh, I remember the good old days when he...

Looks like it's official, at least for now. There will be no empty podium left for The Donald tomorrow night: "DAILY MAIL - No trace of Donald Trump will be left at Thursday night's debate as a Fox News spokesperson confirmed that an empty podium would not be left on stage for the boycotting billionaire. Trump, over issues he had with Fox News moderator Megyn Kelly, declared last night that he would not be attending the GOP debate taking place in Des Moines, just days before the Iowa caucuses. Instead, he'll hold a fundraiser across town for veterans and wounded...

A sneak preview of what you'll hear from Cruz on Thursday night in the highly unlikely event that Trump doesn't show. You'll find all the points you'd expect in the clip below: Trump is snubbing Iowans by skipping the debate; Trump is too mercurial to be president; Trump is afraid to defend his record from Cruz; and the ever-popular "I'll debate you one-on-one anywhere" challenge thatâs never worked in all of political history. Depending on how daring Cruz wants to be, you may hear a variation on this point on Thursday night too. Reaaaaally iffy to attack Trump for doing...

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is facing significant questions from pro-life voters in advance of the first primary and caucus votes next month. And when asked on the campaign trail to provide more specifics about the kind of abortion policies he would implement as president, he declined to give any specifics. Instead, he repeated what he has say countless times before that he is pro-life on abortion but without providing any further details about what he would do on a myriad of pro-life issues he will face as president - most notably naming judges to the Supreme Court who will determine...

A man who makes deals for a living does his deals in the world as he finds it. He accepts the world as it is, and tries to make the best deal possible. He doesn't try to change the world; he deals with it. Leaders, on the other hand, such as Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan, do not accept dealing with the status quo. Reagan didn't want to deal with the Soviet Union. He wanted to destroy it. Jimmy Carter, on the other hand, believed in detente, in building relationships and making deals. He scoffed at Reagan and his inordinate fear...

What would you say Donald Trump's emotional age is? The reason I ask is because of his very questionable, even childish behavior. Everyone he disagrees with is called a "loser" or "stupid" or "failing". This is the language children use in criticizing one another. Instead of responding to each other's arguments, children just give blanket assertions that the others around them are bad. That is exactly what Trump does. Ted Cruz may say he disagrees with Donald Trump's longstanding support for partial birth abortion, but Donald Trump will just respond that Ted Cruz is "dumb" or "unlikeable". It's no different...

Donald Trump has decided to boycott the last GOP presidential debate before the Iowa caucus, which means it will likely be the most substantive debate yet. In previous debates Trump's biggest contributions have been in the form of wacky, nonverbal facial expressions. Trump is like having an LOL cat on stage, but less cute. Fun to watch, draws a lot of eyeballs, and ends up as something your aunt forwards around on the Internet. Trump's big bully shtick catapults him from one controversy to the next, purposely evading any real vetting of his previous beliefs and statements. But unlike on...

In 2011, Donald Trump was scheduled to moderate a debate on Newsmax TV. During the preparations for the debate Trump went on with Megyn Kelly and lamented that only two candidates had agreed to be in the Des Moines debate at the end of December, days before the Iowa Primary. Megyn Kelly asked Trump what his thoughts were on only two candidates confirming for his debate. He told Kelly, "we're not seeing a lot of courage here are we?" Trump continued, "not lots of courage, these Republicans are supposed to be brave." Trump also told Kelly that she "had done...

El Trumpo is once again grabbing the headlines and the spotlight by the throat with his announcement that he won't be attending the Fox News debate after he says he just couldn't take the "wiseguy" press statement they put out. Americans are fed up and not going to take it anymore because the establishment Demicans - the odious union of backstabbing Democrats and Republicans - in DC are colluding with the rich donor class at the expense of the vast majority of voters. The donor class is made up of those individuals and groups with deep financial pockets who finance elections and enrich politicians. George Soros is an example of a donor class dignitary but the public unions, including teacher unions, are also platinum card-carrying members of the donor class because of the huge amounts of money they spend making...

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures and declares "You'\'re fired!" at a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, June 17, 2015. Reuters Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures and declares "You're fired!" at a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, June 17, 2015. Reuters In the announcement speech for his presidential campaign, Donald Trump railed against Obamacare. "We have a disaster called the big lie: Obamacare," Trump declared. "I would repeal and replace the big lie, Obamacare." Well, that sounds like something a Republican candidate would say. But there is one problem: Trump helped finance the Democratic takeover of Congress in 2006...

Donald Trump has slept with a lot of married women. Don't take my word for it, take his. Trump wrote that he once considered an open marriage with his first wife, and in his book "The Art of the Comeback" he said: "If I told the real stories of my experiences with women, often seemingly very happily married and important women, this book would be a guaranteed best-seller." Not only did he commit mass adultery, but he bragged about it. Should such an immoral man be elected President? But it is a private affair, you may say. His private life,...

The Cruz for President campaign today announced a new TV ad, "New York Values", showing Donald Trump's assertion that New York "views" and "attitudes" are different than views and attitudes in Iowa. Trump explained New York Values in his own words and how they shaped his views on gay marriage and abortion. He then admits that if he were president he would not even ban partial-birth abortions. The ad will run statewide in Iowa starting Jan 26th. "New York Values" TV: 30 Trump: I mean, hey I lived in New York City and Manhattan all my life, so my views...

I'm not sure what is worse: Donald Trump bragging about paying off politicians, or the cheering by Republican-debate audiences when Donald Trump brags about paying off politicians. See, when I worked for the Justice Department, we didn't just indict the slimy pols - from both parties - on the receiving end. We also indicted the deep-pocketed cronies who greased their palms, expecting top-shelf service in return. Even if you're not the queasy type, how nauseating to watch a crowd of people, many of whom would tell you they're strong law-and-order conservatives, giddily applauding as a guy confesses that he's the...

,img> Here's a tweet that may come back to haunt Donald Trump. Back in 2014, Trump tweeted about how he and Al Sharpton are BFFs. The Donald 'gets' Al Sharpton but others don't. Meaning Trump gets the race hustling, riot instigating Al Sharpton while us peasants don't. Unless this was a ploy to woo the black vote, being friends with the likes of Al Sharpton is nothing to be bragging about. The Donald should know this.

Those of you that have known me for a long time, know that I like to be right more than anything else. I get paid to do this because I'm right more often than not (I've virtually predicted the right outcome of every meaningful election in Iowa since I started in the 2008 cycle). In order to do so that means I have to provide analysis that may not be what I prefer the outcome to be. I think I've proven time and time again I will do it, too, if I have to regardless of the consequences. Another reason...

NewsMachete delivered free to your inbox! Ted Cruz's plan to "bring jobs back from China" is better than Trump's In the last GOP debate, Ted Cruz outlined his trade policies and how they would be superior to Donald Trump's. First, Trump's plan is to impose tariffs of 45% on Chinese goods if they don't open up their markets. Trump has denied this 45% figure, and he would also probably deny this audio of his own voice saying, in fact, "the tax should be 45%". Here's the positive scenario: if China buckled to trade pressures, and opens up its market, the...

Donald Trump unleashed a personal attack on "This Week" this morning against Ted Cruz and Keep the Promise super PACs are releasing a counterattack. Trump may think the ad is all about him - after all, it's his words throughout the spot - but really, voters need to know how amazing Donald Trump thinks Ted Cruz really is. "Primary contests can turn ugly, especially when frontrunners realize their lead is shrinking and that voters might prefer a solid record to snarky rhetoric. Mr Trump launched a personal, uninitiated attack against Senator Ted Cruz by suggesting 'no one likes him.' But...

The truth about Donald Trump is that he's a flip-flopping liberal pretending to be a Republican for his own advantageous purposes - and he also used to be a big fan of the Clintons. And a new Ted Cruz ad points that out using Donald Trump's own words. Video at link.

Businessman Donald Trump says he is pro-life and wants to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. He's vocal on just about every topic and is ready to offer a quip at a moment's notice on anything that concerns him, the presidential campaign of politics. But Trump is remarkably silent today on the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. His campaign has issued no statement from him on the 58 million unborn babies killed in abortion, he's not addressed pro-life topics today in any interviews and the prolific tweeter hasn't said a word on Twitter or even RTd a statement or...

He's not going to get fully pregnant, just a little bit pregnant. What's the harm in that? "I think they're warming up. I want to be honest, I have received so many phone calls from people that you would call establishment, from people - generally speaking ... conservatives, Republicans - that want to come onto our team," Trump told reporters in Las Vegas before an appearance at the Outdoor Sportsman Awards... At an earlier rally, Trump painted himself as a pragmatic dealmaker capable of working with lawmakers, in contrast with Cruz, his top rival in the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses......

Those of us who like to believe that human beings are rational can sometimes have a hard time trying to explain what is going on in politics. It is still a puzzle to me how millions of patriotic Americans could have voted in 2008 for a man who for 20 years - TWENTY YEARS - was a follower of a preacher who poured out his hatred for America in the most gross gutter terms. Today's big puzzle is how so many otherwise rational people have become enamored of Donald Trump, projecting onto him virtues and principles that he clearly does...

As actual voters get ready to weigh in on the GOP presidential race, establishment Republicans are laying down a marker: Sen. Ted Cruz must be stopped at all costs, even if it means nominating Donald Trump. It appears that these Republicans are so blinded by their personal hatred of Cruz that they've convinced themselves that the party would be better off choosing somebody who represents everything they claim to abhor. In making this calculation, they are exhibiting the same shortsightedness and lack of pragmatism that they claim to hate about Cruz. Though there's been plenty of talk about the national...

Ted Cruz hit back at Donald Trump today for his attack on Cruz, that he won't go along to get along to curry favor in Washington. Of course Cruz accepts this criticism and in turn says that if you want someone who will go along to get along and cut deals with the likes of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer, then Donald Trump is your guy. Couldn't have said it better myself. It's clear Trump puts a high priority on his ability to cut deals with people and that's just not something I'm looking for in a candidate....
