9 Jul 10 - Fourteen earthquakes have occurred below Iceland's Mýrdalsjökull glacier during the past 48 hours - one within the last 4 hours. Katla Volcano lies beneath the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
Katla Volcano usually erupts every century, says Iceland's President Olafur Grimsson. and the last eruption was in 1918. "The time for Katla to erupt is coming close."
"I don't say if, but I say when Katla will erupt," Grimsson says. "We have been waiting for that eruption for several years."
"It can create, for a long period, extraordinary damage to modern advanced society."
What's your degree in?
What are you paid to do?
Was the hamster crack a little too close to home?
Yikes!
What's your degree in?
Which one? I have several.
What are you paid to do?
I am a researcher affiliated with one of the largest universities in the United States. One that has produced either as faculty or alum, 28 Nobel Prize laureates. With the exception of three in Economics and one in Peace, all have been in Physics, Chemistry, or Medicine.
Was the hamster crack a little too close to home?
I don't know. Ask your nose - it's closer to the hamster crack than anything else. And by the way, what are your qualifications?
Ah, that explains a lot, including why I make so much more money than you do.
Ever had a real job in the private sector, or have you hid in academia your entire life?
Or perhaps there isn't much call in the private sector for hamster researchers, eh?
You sure are fixated on money. Well, knock yourself out. One of the reasons I can do what I do is that I’ve already played that game and am now basically independently wealthy. I retired at the age of 48 and now spend my time doing what interests me rather than what puts bread on the table. Oh, and by the way, my wife’s grandfather is the former CEO of one of the largest food companies in the world and her dear old dad is general counsel for one of oil companies that you buy gas from. To make a long story short, I’m not interested in money. Enjoy being a wage slave.
More Katla rumblings.

Maybe these are mostly related to summer ice melt. At least two are greater than magnitude 3.
It could be but from what I have read it is magma moving around.
BTW, Ref: Hydrazine - are a rocket scientist??? :)
Yes.
LOL, I thought so!
Katla is stirring again.
12 earthquakes in the last 48 hours.

When/If eruptions occur, it will likely be significant. I remember Mt. Saint Helens had quakes for a about 2 months before finally exploding. All volcanoes seem to be different.
Some activity playing out in Iceland today...
The volcano I was most concerned wtih under Vatnajokull glacier is likely associated with this latest swarm up there.

The quakes are locating at an area known as Dyngjujokull which is fissure rich.
This graph plot suggests rising magma.

This Glacier was connected to the little ice age climate variations.
Gps from the glacier...gfum is the device located at the volcanoe I thought a few months ago was most at risk, Grimsvotn.

Whoa!
Will the ash cloud go to Martha’s Vineyard?
I will join u in prayer!....lol
