A series of 'death pits' containing 300 bodies have been discovered in Russia.

The grisly site, which was found in the city of Yaroslavl, northeast of Moscow, likely dates back to the Mongol invasion of Europe in 1238.

During this time, Genghis Khan's grandson, Batu Khan, decimated entire communities in his brutal - and bloodthirsty - bid for power.

Now, thanks to scientific advances, DNA evidence has revealed that three of the victims were related and killed together: a grandmother, a mother and a grandson.

This same Mongol army pushed into Central Europe crushing Poland and Hungary but Western Europe was saved when the Ogedei died and the Mongols went back to Mongolia.

Thank goodness they didn’t use semiautomatic weapons.

I'm going to sign a Petition stating that Faber College should get rid of the name "Mongols".

Climate change enabled them.

The medieval warm period grew lush grass on the Russian steppes for several generations, raising a horde of warriors, feeding their horses, and allowing them to conquer vast territories.

Shortly after the medieval warm period went away, the Mongol empire went away.

Ugh, I know!

So apparently, Genghis Khan’s grandson, Batu Khan only killed 1 of 10 military-aged males in theses communities.

Now had he “obliterated” these communities, well that would be quite bloody, brutal, and evil.

There is a lesson in there. I learned a similar lesson in Microbiology growing bacteria. The various cultures on one plate compete for resources and the best at it take over. They don’t “live with the competition” (diversity) they annihilate the competition.

***The medieval warm period grew lush grass on the Russian steppes for several generations, raising a horde of warriors, feeding their horses, and allowing them to conquer vast territories. ***

Much like the High Plains in the 1860s when settlers lived in peace during the winter as the Indian tribes were all hunkered down in camps for the winter.

But they knew the raids would begin again “as soon as the grass was tall enough to support a war pony”.

Rumor has it that Ghengis got his start after binge watching Game of Thrones, hopping on his horse and saying “I got this!”

He was an amateur compared to the communists.

In terms of % of world population, the Mongols might be the top killers in human history.
