Osprey alights on a snag above his nest to check me out and voice his displeasure with my presence.

Great action shots.
Just so happened to see an osprey today as well. It was on its nest atop a power pole about a dozen miles north of Marysville, California.

Beautiful shots. I have yet to get one of a Flicker. I had one land within 12 feet of me a couple of weeks ago but I was working and didn’t have my camera.

I thought female northern flickers have no mustache. Am I wrong?

You are correct. I guess it could have been a territorial dispute, or some sort of claim to dominance to gain priority of claims for female flickers, or perhaps they were just hanging around waiting for the lady flickers to get through shopping at Wal-Mart or get through talking to everybody at church. :-)
