Remember the two ginger kittens that swam their way to a fishermen’s boat to be rescued? We’ve got updates on the two kitties.
The two brave ginger kittens rescued by fishermen Jason Frost and Brandon Key are doing great at their forever home where they have been named Warrior and River.
“Warrior and River are doing good they have been to the vet, have had all the shots they need and both have been fixed,” their human wrote. (More on Facebook)
That term brings back nightmares......
I lived in an apartment for almost 23 years and one night when I had to go outside to my car, there was a cat on the front porch that was obviously hungry.
So I quickly ran upstairs to get a bowl of cat food that I had left over from my previous cat and took it back downstairs. It was then I noticed that someone had put a zip-tie collar on the poor thing when it may have been a kitten and the cat had grown into it to the point that it was literally being choked to death as evidenced by its bulging eyes and the zip-tie embedded around its neck.......
I then ran back upstairs to get a pair of wire cutters but by the time I had returned, the cat had left..........
I will never forget the tortured face on that poor cat for as long as I live..........
Then you must have experienced the next stage in orange kitten development, mainly, walking in front of you to trip you up as you desperately need to get to the bathroom at 5 am.
I think kittens laugh about that, and can’t wait until they develop thumbs so that they no longer need us to open cans of cat food.
When I was a young’un.I could have seen what it was. Not so much today. :)
My question is...Why would two cats take to the water to go to strangers when they were on dry land?

They are absolutely gorgeous cats. Just stunning. I am so glad to see they now have a loving home.
That is horrible-may the person that did that have a zip tie collar put on them.
My cats-including the future abductee-wear break-away safety collars-with a little bell. I check them often to make sure they work properly-my three cats do not go outside, ever-neither will the kidnapped one, once I have him in my permanent possession.
Titus always jumps right out in front of me when he knows it is time for food in the morning and I’ve already got my mind on work on the way to the kitchen-he also runs in front of my Husky-she is 16 and it makes her howl/snarl at him, which he seems to get off on.

I think that outdoor cats very often adapt just fine to indoor-only life. We ended up rescuing and then adopting a battle-scarred orange Manx at one point. (He was hiding in the bottom of our apartment stairwell — he must have seen a sign in cat-ese reading: “Suckers live here! Inquire within!” with a huge laceration on his back, evidently from a run-in with a car.) At any rate, after he healed up, Samwise would pad over to the door once in a while when we were leaving, take a good look outside, and then go back and jump on the couch. It was pretty clear where he wanted to be! LOL!
I think cats can spot a sucker/cat lover from a distance, and act accordingly if they are looking for a home. A couple of years ago, I fostered a small 2 year old brindle tabby-the vet said she was likely the runt of a litter-only 4 pounds or so. She was found in the woods, obviously feral but not hostile-and afraid of every noise and movement.
She needed to get over her fears before adoption, and I’ve fostered before so I agreed to do so, since I have a cat-loving Husky, and both Titus and my Maine Coon are pretty laid back. She got spayed, and the thought was that she would be offered to a single person who had no other pets-a tranquil environment for a skittish cat.
A few weeks into the fostering, Midget began playing with my Husky and other two cats-and sleeping on my bed at night-that was it-I paid the adoption fee-she weighs a respectable 6 pounds now and is a velcro cat...
Jock looks almost exactly like the neighbor’s cat that I’m going to make mine, white paws and all.
LOL! You ARE a sucker! But the best kind. Glad you ended up with such a loving little girl (in addition to your others).
