I have two 5 month old kittens looking for a home. These two sisters were brought to my backyard by their mother a couple of months ago. They are both negative for feline AIDS and luekemia. They have been spayed, and had all shots. They are strictly indoor cats now and looking for a quiet home. They are both shorthairs. Reason for giving them up, I have six cats already and cannot give all cats enough attention.

About 20 years ago in the windy city of Casper, Wyoming, I was privileged to serve among a group of 'community organizers.' These men and women served at the local mission, helped in latchkey school programs and we got involved in politics teaching on free enterprise and the constitution, helped register voters, and ran for precinct chairs all for the betterment of our communities. And we did it for free. Our pastors encouraged us to get off our blessed assurances and make a difference in our community. We knew what they preached and it wasn't anti-American nor did they call...

In a shocking turn of events, an anonymous source has revealed that Vice Presidential hopeful, Sarah Palin hunts and eats kittens and then hangs their heads over her fireplace. The revelation is certain to sink the McCain campaign. "At first I thought the pick of Sarah Palin was a stroke of genius, but now we know the truth about what kind of person she is. There is no way any pet owner in American will vote for Palin now," said an anonymous, unbiased mainstream media writer. Bloggers have expressed their outrage at the information. "I'm a lifelong Republican and was...

Lucy is a doll. With kittenish alacrity, she crawls all over my body, up over my head, down my back. I tried to put her inside my sweatshirt and walk out the door with her, but I got nabbed by one of the kids. I am not sure, though, that Queen2 and her QC are ready for cat-land. They seem to be laboring under the delusion that they will be able to keep Lucy downstairs and off the counters. Snort. I do think there is a pet accumulation process that occurs with susceptible households. Right now, we have three cats,...

I was advised that this scenario would not be entertained on anywhere else. The member that I discussed it with couldn’t, or wouldn’t explain why. I was just trying to understand the great disparity between the goals of Free Republic at the About Free Republic webpage and all the policies of Free Republic that are diametrically opposed to the goals.

A stray cat had kittens in our yard. My wife attempted to barricade the kittens in a contained area to protect them from predators. Short of caging them, this proved impossible. The rambunctious kittens escaped my wife's protection to explore, wrestle and play. With every fall, their climbing skills improved. Mama cat taught “gecko catching 101”. Soon the kittens were supplementing their breast milk with gecko snacks. Had my wife been successful in her intrusive attempts to protect them, the kittens' growth would have been stunted leaving them ill equipped to survive. The kittens scenario illustrates the superiority and compassion...

BURLINGTON, Iowa (CBS) ― You can understand why some visitors to the Burlington, Iowa, humane society get a little freaked out. It's not everyday you see a dog have a kitten for lunch. "Grab him! Grab the little kitty!" one delighted child shouted. And not just a kitten - one dog that CBS reporter Steve Hartman was about to have a whole litter of kittens for lunch. "Uh, oh," the child muttered as the dog nabbed the kitty. The story of this unusual dining arrangement began a couple months ago. Lily, a mix of Labrador and who knows what, was...

Two men were arrested Wednesday after they allegedly stood by laughing as their pit bull ate a live kitten. Jeremy Johnson, 17, and Travis Johnson, 23, were arrested in a vacant lot in the 4900 block of Bradley Street after 911 dispatchers received an anonymous tip about the pair, a Baton Rouge police arrest affidavit says. When police and animal control officers arrived at 11:20 a.m., they saw Jeremy Johnson holding his pet pit bull’s leash while the dog consumed a kitten, according to police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely and the affidavit.

It's that time of year when all people who have been thinking about getting a new kitten and even some who haven't, are suddenly faced with a lot of choices! Well, if you want a lot of smiles and fun, I say adopt not just one, but two. :~) We think they are best in pairs. We have two we adopted two years ago. But we also have two wild cats who have taken refuge in our barn... I've fed them and given them that safe haven, though I can't get near them. They hunt and kill mice and at...

It's no secret that cats are popular online. In fact, the fickle felines inspired a Web Search column (www.startribune.com/websearch/?p=112) that received a great reader response. Since then, though, an entire kitty subculture has emerged on the Web in the form of cat photos with funny sayings written on them.At first, they were called cat macros, but now go mostly by the name lolcats -- combining the Web abbreviation for "laugh out loud" (LOL) and "cats." The captions are written with poor English and bad grammar, as if the cat is commenting on the situation depicted in the photo, which sometimes...

MERIDEN, Conn. -- Who says cats and dogs don't get along? Workers at the Meriden Humane Society are marveling at a short-haired mother cat who has willingly adopted a six-day-old Rottweiler puppy that was rejected by its mother. The tiny pup, named Charlie by Humane Society volunteers, nurses alongside a jumble of black and gray kittens recently born to Satin, who was surrendered to the shelter by an owner unable to care for her.

The recent spate of unseasonably warm temperatures have led to what seems to be an extended breeding cycle for some feral cats -- meaning a bump in the local kitten population and full cages at several local shelters and rescue groups. So many new kittens have come into the Long Island Humane and Dog Protective Association, a private, no-kill animal shelter in Freeport, that the shelter has had to turn away callers wanting to bring in kittens for adoption. "We have just been inundated with calls" about kittens, said Maria Cross, one of the shelter's workers. "Usually, by November, December,...

Frist's Cat Problem Tennessean columnist Gail Kerr notes that Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN) "fessed up in his 1989 book, Transplant, to adopting cats from shelters when he was in medical school, treating them like pets for a while, and then using them in his research experiments." The subject also came up in the 1994 Senate GOP primary. "It was a short-lived local story that briefly flared in the national press. Yes, what Frist did was odd and rather icky, but he also saved a lot of lives as a heart surgeon. The kitty killer charges were widely dismissed, and Frist...

Last night I went out to have a smoke and just as I was about to step out the door, I looked down and there was a dead baby kitten on our mat. The mama cat is wild and has never let us anywhere near her. A couple of hours later my hubby went to take out the trash and there was another dead kitten in the same place. He buried them out in the field. I just went outside for a smoke, and there is another one, that makes three. My question is, since the mama cat is wild, why...

House arrest for attack catFairfield neighbors terrorized by Lewis DANIEL TEPFER dtepfer@ctpost.com A ferocious feline terrorized a quiet Fairfield neighborhood, to the point that residents are seeking help from the law to stop the so-called "Terrorist of Sunset Circle." Lewis, a 5-year-old, black-and-white longhaired cat, attacked at least a half-dozen people on the cul-de-sac and even took on the local Avon lady, neighbors say. "He looks like Felix the Cat and has six toes on each foot each with a long claw," Sunset Circle resident Janet Kettman said. "They are formidable weapons." Kettman said Lewis attacked her twice. "I was...

Los Angeles, Calif. -- Veterinarians across the country are reacting to Monday’s release of a UCLA study claiming that as many as 90 percent of all felines currently being born in the United States will develop Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) during their first month as a kitten. “Our research shows that an overwhelming majority of kittens begin displaying classic symptoms of ADD and ADHD within their first two to three weeks of life, symptoms such as uncontrollable, aggressive hyperactivity, constant squirming and being easily distracted by irrelevant sights, sounds and extraneous stimuli – a...

Nov. 23, 2005 — An Ohio woman will spend a night in the woods without water, food or entertainment as part of her punishment for abandoning 35 kittens. Painesville Municipal Court Judge Michael A. Cicconetti handed down the sentence on Nov. 17 to Michelle M. Murray, 25. On Sept. 19, park rangers found the kittens abandoned in two parks in Mentor, Ohio. Many of the kittens had upper respiratory infections and nine later died. They were traced back to Murray because they were wearing identification collars. "How would you like to be dumped off at a metro park late at...

PAINESVILLE, Ohio, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A judge in Painesville, Ohio, has ordered a woman to spend a winter night in the woods for abandoning 40 kittens in two parks. Michelle Murray must spend the night with no food, light or shelter as part of the court-imposed sentence, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports. Municipal Judge Michael Cicconetti said parks rangers will take the 26-year-old woman into the forest at dusk and pick her up at dawn on Thanksgiving Day. Rangers will monitor her to make sure she is safe and does not freeze, the report said. The weather forecast for the...

I was told this is a site with expertise on cats so I came here. My wife did not take our cat to be fixed like I told her to do and the cat got pregnant. She went over to under an old shed to have the kittens and nursed them there, too. Now the kittens are a couple of months old and are starting to move around some, but they are very afraid of humans even though they see the mother around us. They run under the shed when anybody comes near them. They are starting to get too...

Sorry for the vanity; Some jerk left two little kittens outside my apartment door; They look to be about five weeks old, with their eyes open, very thin. I don't want them, but the shelters here take animals by appointment only. Any freepers in the San Antonio area need a kitty? They're pretty cute, one's white and gold and the other's a mottled brown/black. Both males, they don't seem to have any fleas, or ticks. Also, any hints on what to feed them in the meantime would be appreciated. (We don't know much about cats.) I'd really like to get...

Brigitte Bardot, the 1950s and 1960s film star turned animal rights campaigner, has called on the French government to halt the reported use by fishermen on the island of Reunion of live puppies and kittens as shark bait. "It is imperative that the government does something to end this practice," she said in a letter to the minister for French overseas territories, Francois Baroin, a copy of which was given to AFP Thursday. According to Clicanoo, a newspaper in Reunion, a French island located in the Indian Ocean, a six-month-old puppy was found last month with hooks implanted in its...

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Gemini, the two-headed kitten born this month, has died, according to a report. Owner Lee Bluetear said she didn't know what caused the death of the unusual creature, which died Thursday in the town of Glide, but she said the kitten appeared very tired and did not want to eat. The story and photo of Gemini was distributed worldwide. "I couldn't believe how much interest there really was," Bluetear said. Veterinarians initially gave Gemini a meager chance of one long life, let alone nine. Gemini was born with two mouths, two tongues, two noses and four eyes....

HURON, Ohio - A part-time police officer has been accused of throwing two kittens out of a car while driving at 70 mph. Derik Wilhelm, 26, is charged with two counts of animal cruelty and two counts of abandoning animals. The charges are misdemeanors that carry up to 90 days in jail. Wilhelm is an officer in the village of Castalia, about 50 miles east of Toledo, and a ranger for Erie MetroParks. A man called the Erie County Sheriff's Office around noon Tuesday to report seeing a driver in front of him throw two kittens out a window. The...

Bonsai Kitten site brings animal-rights roar E-Briefing archive For past E-Briefing columns, click here. Rae French doesn't think the little kittens shown stuffed into jars on the Web site, Bonsai Kitten, are real. She doesn't believe there is such a thing as bonsai kittens, or even that the MIT graduate students behind the Web site meant to do anything but make a "sick joke." But as president of Hugs for Homeless Animals, she stands by the e-campaign to shut it down, and she's hoping the FBI will take action. Yes, the FBI apparently is investigating the site that depicts kittens...

Good afternoon, Freepers! I have two kittens, approximately 7 months old that we adopted approximately 5 months ago. They were hand raised from approximately 2 weeks of age (their mother was killed on the roadside), and they're about the friendliest cats I've ever run into. However, they've gotten to be more than my daughter is willing to handle. As it stands, I'm taking care of my daughter, the house, the original cat and the dog, and myself - so I've got my hands full. If there is anyone in the Oak Ridge/Knoxville area who would like to have two loving,...

Bush has a fork in him. Look at the polls. You see them. What makes you think it's gonna get any better for the appointed one? Only the dedicated neo-cons support this clown. Your boy is toast. I hope you guys won't do anything rash after he loses horribly on November 2. President Kerry will make this country much better. Just keep that in mind and you'll be fine. Better yet, jump on the Kerry bandwagon and support a return to peace and prosperity. Come on guys, I'm on your side.

Ford Motor Co. is upset by the release of an Internet advertisement that depicts the decapitation of a computer-animated cat by a power moonroof hatch, saying it didn't authorize the clip. The ad for the Sportka, a hatchback sold in Europe, shows the realistic-looking orange cat climbing on top of the car and poking its head into the open moonroof, The Detroit News reported Sunday. The hatch slides closed, the cat struggles briefly and its headless body slides to the ground. Ford says the clip was conceived without its approval by ad agency Ogilvy & Mather as part of a...

There have been many duplicate threads lately. A search is easy to do, but is not 100% foolproof, nonetheless, it is very effective. The Free Republic search feature only looks at words in the title (words from within the article will not work). That is why it is imperative to use the original title. To avoid having duplicate posts, prior to posting an article, search a keyword from the title only. The main search page can be found here:SEARCH The best method to search is to pick a key word or two from the title. If the article you are...
