Most troubling news out of Tom Brady's deflate-gate comments: NFL hasn't talked to QB
Yahoo Sports ^ | 1/23 | Dan Wetzel

Is Tom Brady telling the truth? Is he lying? Can both scenarios be possible?

Is it remotely plausible that some unnamed, unknown, mystery equipment manager altered the footballs without Brady's knowledge and approval … or did 11 of the Patriots' footballs, but not one of the Colts, nor apparently 12 more backup footballs from the Patriots, lose pressure naturally?

That’s kind of the point. Everyone admits balls are doctored a bit. Kickers want max psi. It would be easy to make a mistake (intentional or unintentional) over or under on psi given equipment limitations, both in inflating and in testing.

The whole process of balls used in SBs is different. Maybe that is a factor in so many dull SBs: The balls don’t go the same process as during the regular season.

“you’re not as talented as Chris Simms”

Yeah his pro stats and Supper Bowl wins are impressive compared to Brady...

It's amazing how the Colts drubbed them in the second half when the balls were put right.

What the hell are you talking about?

If you take away all scores by the Pats from the 1st half, they still win 21-10. The Colts only scored one TD all game. The Pats outscored the Colts 21-7 in the 2nd half.

So exactly, who drubbed whom? And what 'comeback' are you talking about?

The team owners ARE the NFL.

Kraft is the money man, he won’t talk to anybody until he feels like it.

Uh.....

You need a better sarcasm detection meter.

Also, the Pats won the second half 28-0 with the regulation balls.

That makes those who actually think this is serious look VERY stupid.

I don’t think them not talking to Brady yet is that big a deal. Given normal procedure if Brady under inflated them that was before they were submitted to the refs (much like how Rodgers submits them over inflated), so if they went over inflated then that’s on the refs not Brady. The questioning really is for the refs and the ball boy, they’re the folks who either didn’t notice the state of the balls or modified them after inspection.

And yes, of course Tom Brady could tell, but you really didn’t expect him to say that did you? He was really going to step up to the mike and say “yep knew from the first snap those balls were under inflated just the way I like”?

Oh. Sorry. Mea maxima culpa. Sometimes ya gotta use that </sarcasm> tag for folks like me.

Damn man, I thought you were serious. So much so that I had to check my facts on the line score despite what I'd seen with my own eyes.

Nice rant.

But I think it's the communists.
Not content with just screwing with our "precious bodily fluids", now they are attacking the very essence of America - football.
Kraft is a robber-baron, and the commies want to take him down, and all of the NFL with him.
DON'T FALL FOR THEIR TRAP - DON'T BE A COMMIE-SYMPATHIZER. Be a Patriot.

Lakeshark;

You aren’t used to bad calls against the Lions?
Dude, get a grip!
The 2013 opening game against the Bears destroyed that Lions team according to both morale and their season; and that was GAME-FRIKKIN-ONE!

That team (Lions 2013) , I would proffer was an NFC championship team from the git-go! Good-god; Stafford 5-gazillion yards and still second best?

That said, bad calls happen every game due to human error. Now how does something like the soft balls fit into a 45-7 final score? Let that sink in...45-7.

Meh, the Lions (and Cowboys v GB !) have a bigger and better concern for officiating than The Dolts this year!

Sure, gauges may be inaccurate. But, 11 of the 12 Patriot balls were deflated to the SAME PSI. 12 of 12 Colts balls were properly inflated. Again, to the SAME PSI.

Peter King added some new info today that makes a more damning case. The refs checked all 24 balls (12 NE balls / 12 Colts balls) before the game – normal process - and all were in spec. They checked all 24 balls again at halftime and found all 12 (according to King, 11 of 12 according to Mortenson) of the Patriots balls were 2 pounds low (~10.5PSI) while all 12 of the Colts balls were at the same pressure as they were at the beginning of the game. The refs corrected the pressure in the NE balls for second half play. At the end of the game, all 24 balls were at the correct pressure. This leaves virtually no doubt that a human tampered with the balls after the initial inspection.

No team should be able to score too many points against an opponent. It's degrading and humiliating.

It's okay, I'm enjoying making fun of those who really think this was the most horrible thing ever done in sports.

Even if they did make the balls better to Brady's liking, even if they did........those who are bitching about it as some kind of improper playing field need to explain the second half score.

28-0 is a pretty compelling argument for how stupid this all is......

You keep using that video!
I don’t think it means what you think it means.
(With apologies to Inyego Montoya, Princess Bride.)

Still as Lions fans, we chuckle everytime Burt throws that ball....

/I watched both pressers, almost puked multiple times.

(1) Belicheck was very specific, he said he did not once (ever, in his 40 years of coaching career) talk to anybody about air pressure.

(2) Brady hurt himself tremendously yesterday. He could have done better, should have known better. Telling the audience he couldn't feel the difference from 1st half vs. 2nd half (supposedly re-inspected during half time) is treating sports fans like the idiots he thinks we are.

(3) Not once, nobody from sports/tv industries thought of getting hold of the game day referees.

(4) NFL and I reiterate yet again. Roger Goodell is an unmitigated disaster. Owners like him because of the $$$$$, but the way NFL is run, it won't last long.

Okay, only 28 points max in any given half.......

It doesn’t make Kraft look like an idiot at all. You clearly don’t understand the basics of the business. Since Spygate the Pats have averaged 12 wins a season, made the playoffs all but one year, won the division all but one year, made first place in the conference 3 or 4 times, made the conference finals 4 or 5 times, and made the SB 3 times. In the process of all that they’ve made BILLIONS of dollars, including money off the people who hate them because of spygate (if you’re gonna burn a jersey first you’ve got to BUY a jersey).

That fine was around league minimum salary for a rookie, non-material. The draft pick (only 1) they lost was the 31st pick in the draft. Thanks to the way they trade (gladly giving up a pick this year for 2 next year) it wasn’t even their only 1st round pick (they also had the Niners which was 10th I think). So it really didn’t cost them anything, you can tell by how successful they’ve been since then.

Yeah, they’re the villains. BFD, ask the WWE, heels actually generally make more money than faces. There’s cold cash in being hated. Nothing idiotic about it.
