No one is asking why one ball was properly inflated!

Answer- the kickers need a properly inflated ball.

The SB rating aren’t effect that much by who the teams are. The Pats didn’t used to be popular yet their first win against the Panthers (a basically unknown team) had the typical massive ratings.

One must also remember, this isn’t much of a rule. The normal “punishment” for breaking it is they replace the ball and tell the commish. And that’s generally where it stops. Multiple QBs have admitted over the years to breaking it, earlier this year Minnesota got scolded for breaking it, I don’t think anybody has ever actually been punished for it.

Dearest Cletus.

I AM a Lions fan. They were genuinely robbed by perhaps the worst no call (or changed call) I've ever seen. I doubt they would have beat the Packers, and then the Seahawks.

My comments on the Patriots "scandal" have all been tongue in cheek. I''m sorry that you didn't see the sarcasm in them.

Like I said without sarcasm: Once the balls were changed back to regulation in the seond half, they scored 28 freaking unanswered points and made the Colts look like fools. Anyone who can look at that and say this is a serious scandal that gave the Patriots an unfair advantage needs their head examined.

You missed my point. If Chris Simms can tell, there’s not effing way I’m going to believe Tom Brady when he says he can’t.

And no “ball boy” will have the (excuse me) BALLS to alter a Quarterbacks footballs without the knowledge and consent of the QB. That would just be utterly stupid.

That makes those who actually think this is serious look VERY stupid.

No, it actually means nothing. They obviously didn't know or trust they would win prior to having the plan in place. The outcome isn't really the point.

Maybe all teams do this, who knows. Why have rules if they are going to be arbitrarily enforced. It also feeds the stereo type that many feel about the Pats anyway, they cheat. Also that professional football is starting to resemble professional wrestling, it's more about the show and a spectacle than a sport. Pretty sad actually

That said, did Chris Simms stick his hand in an ice-bath for 10 minutes prior to “examining” the balls? Without the “cold” factor, this “pundit” is simply “perpetrating-a-fraud”.

I thought the temperature outside at the game was 50 degrees? That's hardly an ice bath.

This is beyond silly. And the outcome WITH the regulation balls DOES make anyone who claims this is serious look like a fool.

Which means the Pats were only trying to make it fair in the first half......

:-)

I'm still waitng for your explanation of the second half score when all the balls were inflated to regulation specs.....

Agreed but having the advantage of a temp-controlled studio, wherein both Simm’s hand AND the balls in question have been allowed to temperature-equilibrate, it is “scientifically questionable”

It qualifies, simply, as an empirical exhibit; a one-off.

To paraphrase the Penguins of Madagascar, “Smile and nod, boys. Smile and nod.”

There’s no explanation to give. The Pats are/were the better team. By a long shot. But you make it sound like if that’s the case, then it’s ok to cheat. To ignore the rules.

RULES WERE BROKEN. They were broken intentionally for the purpose of creating an advantage for one team and a disadvantage for the other. Is that so hard to understand? If this wasn’t supposed to be an issue, then the league wouldn’t have rules in place for the PSI in footballs.

Just because superior talent won out in the end doesn’t erase the fact that the Patriots deliberately broke the NFL rules and have risked the integrity of the game.

Bread and circuses.

The NFL has hit attention-saturation GOLD with this one.

Well Kraft had Kerry in the owners box. That fits into the entitlement class. Rule are for other people. If it didn’t mean anything why did they do it. The Pats were favored going in, why cheat? I guess it’s systemic in the organization. Maybe it’s just a New England thing.

Chris Simms had 2 footballs side by side to compare.

The NFL could end this by providing an official report. Everything else is speculation.

VERY stupid, eh?

Well guess what. Reports of complaints from other teams who played them, with MUCH closer scores are coming in. This is not the only game where they obviously cheated. So your constant argument about this game’s score is.....VERY stupid.

Cheating is cheating. It is not malleable or excusable or laughable. Unless one is a liberal, of course.

Let’s see, the refs touched the balls after every play, yet not one of them complained.
As far as public opinion goes, negatives and conspiracy theorists will always be in the lead. I would bet that many fans would believe that if you deflate the ball by 2 pounds per square inch of pressure the ball would be 2 pounds lighter?
This is soooo overblown.
