Disclaimer: I am a person who believes that women have free will. Some of the following statements by me may seem controversial, but I am operating under the assumption that women have free will.
The recent New Yorker article on Eric Schneiderman’s alleged abuse of four women states:
“They allege that he repeatedly hit them, often after drinking, frequently in bed and never with their consent.”
If these intelligent, strong willed, college educated women with high paying jobs and expensive apartments in Manhattan continued to go to bed with Schneiderman “repeatedly,” “often,” and “frequently,” after the first time that he allegedly hit them, I’m having trouble understanding how any of this was “never with their consent.”
None of these women have accused Schneiderman of kidnapping them.
I think each of these woman did the following cost-benefit analysis in her head:
“On the one hand, this guy is a physically abusive scumbag, and I should probably stop going to bed with him.”
“On the other hand, he is famous and wealthy, and he has a lot of influence and social status. So I should continue going to bed with him.”
So it seems to me that these women looked at their options, and they apparently decided that continuing to go to bed with him was a good idea.
It seems to me that if we are to view these women as victims, then we are essentially saying that they do not have free will. And that is not something that I am willing to accept.
You can get mad at me if you want. You can hate me if you want. But I still maintain my belief that women have free will.
If anyone disagrees with me on this, please explain why in the comment section.
Good question.
Hillary says women don’t have free will. They voted for Trump because their husbands, boyfriends, or fathers told them to.
Well, I’m not mad, because I wondered the same thing. No man would ever get a second chance to do that crap to me. Geez, I’ve left men for not helping me with the dishes. God help anyone who hit me. I have a dark side.
Saw him live at an event (I was forced to go) He arrived in a Black Tahoe with an escort and surrounded by Milleneal groupies and staff and yes, it did appear he wore eye make-up. Granted this was a few years ago but this supposed Lawyer of the People was the biggest snarkiest And vile partisan hack I have ever had the displeasure to be in the same zip code with. A total asshat. Glad he is washed up.
The answer has been true for centuries: urges overcome good sense.
For the same reason people went back to Garvey Weinstein?
Because he threatened them...as the chief law enforcement officer in the state he has vast powers to make someone’s life miserable.
Years ago my mom had a friend who’s husband would regularly beat the hell out of her. My mom would tell her that she needed to leave him. She would shake her head (often bruised) and say, “Well he said he was sorry!”.
Women are crazy
Sounds like an S&M thing.
At least she’s GOT a husband.
I agree in principle that this a big issue with a lot of the #MeToo claims. But weren’t these women threatened by the biggest law enforcement obviously swinging dick in the land?
A few of them didn’t. One of the women was shocked, yelled at him, took a picture, told a friend and that was that. She was appalled. Unless you are a woman who has been smacked by a man you have no idea what you are talking about. The ones going back, that is a phenomenon I don’t understand, but that doesn’t make it right.
I’m sure Schneiderman apologized profusely....and used the favorite line of the abuser: “it’ll never happen again.”
*WINNER*
Hey, it worked for Bill. :)
Indeed he has threatened them. Also, the women's fellow lib/coimmies urged them not to say anything to keep solidarity with the neo Communist cause. We are dealing with a terrible cult here.
We have a scandal that has taken out one of Trump’s biggest enemies and threatens to tear the ny dems apart.
So by all means, let’s shift the focus away from Schneiderman, Cuoma, et al and onto the women who outed him.
Pretty effin stupid.
