Glock 19
Oh, forgot to add that I have a .380 Ruger LCP above my sun visor. It’s velcro’d in its holster onto the visor.
Hmmm...no J-frame revolvers, no LCP. Guess I’’m stupid, but those are my go-to guns for CCW. S&W 686+ or Beretta 92 when size isn’t an issue.
If one worries about an “active shooter, need to hit at 25 yards” scenario, then a bigger gun is extremely helpful. But if you expect a close range, maybe already fighting scenario, then a 357 J-frame is darn near unbeatable as a “Belly Gun”!
Hiking tends to have me reaching for the LCP with a 7-round magazine to give it more grip. Extremely concealable, light...but 7 rounds of 380 isn’t anything like walking around unarmed.
The guns in the article aren’t particularly concealable. Not in summer, in Arizona. And none of them strike me as a match for a J-frame 357 in the Belly Gun category.
The article did qualify with “...compact...”
The more the merrier!
Try a full size anything in a Safariland GLS inside the waistband holster with two spare mags on the off side. Balances nicely, disappears under any cover garment, and gives a higher round count. Keep the pocket gun for an off side backup.
oh, practice is a great thing.

I’ll stick with my Beretta tomcat.

The XDm 9mm Compact is 13 round +1 with smaller mag

The added Xtended mag gives you 19 rounds +1, but it adds an inch to the grip.

The XDm .45 Compact is 9 round +1 with smaller mag

Great summary
Thanks. I coulda done better but the post was getting kinda long. Even better, should have found an article (there are several good ones) on the topic and pasted the link.
“Glad to see they included at least one revolver - Ruger LCR”
Thats my current choice. I have very nice pinned/recessed S&W’s but I don’t want to give a cop or some shit eating city smelter a piece of my collection. As to a semi with “one in the pipe” deal me out. I’d rather err on the side of safety. The odds of a throwdown where you don’t have time to rack a slide or flick off a safety are extremely long.
I carry (sometimes) a Glock 23, 40 cal. It fits nicely in my hand. Concealed, not open even though I’m in Texas. I like concealed for the tactical advantage.
I will still go with the M1911-A1.

I like the reliability factor of revolvers. I don’t really see that a double action revolver is really any safer to carry than a semi-auto with one in the pipe - keep your finger away from the trigger and you should be OK in either instance. Also, use a holster that completely covers the trigger and trigger guard.
I also have several undershirts that have pockets for guns, which work well when I am more formally dressed. Slow to access but better than being unarmed.
I have a shoulder holster, but haven't wore it out yet.
Ankle-holsters? Haven't figured them out yet.
I also live in the People’s Republic of Maryland. I cannot legally carry either, so I don’t when I am not at home, but I want to be prepared for the future. Having seen the far left’s temper tantrum when they lost in 2016, I am very concerned about our future. I wish for peace. “If you wish for peace . . .”
Springfield Armory XDS in .9 mm
Who made up this list? I am surprised they didnt list the S&W Model 500.
I know the Ruger LCII falls for short of a full-size for range shooting, but what do you think of its shooting (accuracy and comfort) for its size? Do you just like it for being small, or does it have other virtues? Does yours have a laser, or do you wish it did?
