Any advice for a noob that is super excited? Practice

Also training, especially a legal class so you know where you can and cannot carry and when you can and cannot shoot. take some shooting classes to learn new stuff and break bad techniques before they become habits. they will enhance your practice. Kathy Jackson's THE CORNERED CAT is an excellent book.

Yep, especially in your own state, like here in NY.

Right with ya there Blue, I am not saying that I do but if I did carry, I would probably choose an XDm 3.8 Compact .40 11+1 in a Shepherd Leather with Kydex IWB @ 3:00 with an extra Xtension( also fits in a full size XDm without the extender ring) 16 round mag or two.

Get some professional training. The NRA courses are pretty good, especially if you really are a 100% bonafide 'noob'.

Practice. A lot.

It fits my hand very well. Note that the magazine has a little lip on the front edge of the floorplate. My little finger rests on it; it makes a huge difference in "fit" to my hand.

It looks good, and it looks familiar.

I put most of the recommendations in a table, sorted by weight, for those who are interested. It’s not displayed perfectly, but it will cut and paste nicely to a spreadsheet:

Ruger LCII in .380 laser 0.380 3.71” 11.4 oz 5.17” 0.75” 6 2.75”
