According to a fact sheet published by the White House late last month, part of the Obama Administration’s effort to curb greenhouse gases involves cutting “cow emissions.”
The executive announcement has since boosted an interest in researching technology to accomplish the Administration’s environmental goals.
The Financial Times reports that scientists now have a renewed interest in developing “a next-generation creature whose greenhouse gas emissions would be cut by anti-methane pills, burp scanners and gas backpacks.”
The Cow of the Future Project, directed by Juan Tricarico, is looking for a “star athlete” of the bovine world, says FT. He says the Administration’s latest environmental goals are “very encouraging” because they show “that important players out there are thinking in similar ways.”
“We want it to be more productive, we want it to be healthier, we want it to be a problem-free cow,” says Tricarico.
According to a report authored by Tricarico hosted by Cornell University, the Cow of the Future Project is “one of ten projects the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy launched to support the industry-wide initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) for fluid milk across the entire dairy supply chain by 25% by 2020.”
Companies like South Dakota’s C-Lock currently have technology developed to help curb cow emissions. C-Lock’s feeding stations, which start at $45,000, feed the animals dietary supplements and measure the methane content of their breath. The National Institute of Agricultural Technology in Argentina has developed gas-collecting backpacks that are connected directly to cows’ stomachs through tubes.

Ok, so the tyrant wants to reduce emissions from cows.
The scientists should try different feed blends while a member of this regime personally keep their nose near the offending orifice until they are satisfied. Shouldn’t take more than 10 years or so.

I think that we all can come together in support of having “a problem-free Michael Moore.”
