The New York Times today (12/11) confirms speculation about the deal for the Fox News personality to succeed Joe Crummey in the late-morning slot. Cumulus Co-COO John Dickey tells the Times that Rivera "brings balance to the discourse", at a station that prominently features conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Dickey says "people are interested in hearing a different perspective, a different voice, a more balanced opinion." Geraldo himself says he'll use two slogans: "I'm Geraldo, and I'm not always right", and "Not red, not blue, but red, white and blue." Rivera started at Fox News in 2001...

Rush speaks at Broadway's Town Hall Theater November 29, 2011 Video & Transcript Excerpt: RUSH: Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. Now, I ask you, which ideological movement today advances the concept of life? It ain't liberalism. Which ideology advances the concept of liberty? It ain't liberalism. In other words, it's not the Democrat Party. And which movement is advancing the whole notion of the pursuit of happiness? Well, it ain't them. They are never happy. Have you ever seen 'em smile? (laughter and applause) RUSH: Really, the founding of this country is a miracle. You and I know it. What...

My Easter Message April 22, 2011 Years ago Easter Sunday was more than the Easter Bunny and the Easter egg hunt and dressing up for the Easter parade. If you ask the average 12-year-old American kid what is Easter, he couldn’t tell you. Those of you who have listened to the Bob Grant Show on radio and of late read this column, know I am not a reverend or in any way known for pushing religion. I believe religion is a personal thing and if you worship in a different way than I do, so what? I think the worst...

At he top of each hour, whenever I liste to Rush/Hannity/Levin, the Obama Broadcasting Company comes on with the news. It strikes me that Compton not only gives the Obama talking points, but also with her out of breath talking style sounds like she is having "tingles". Will the real Anne Compton please stand up!

A new book released today uncovers for the first time where and how President Obama first met Weather Underground terrorist-group founder William Ayers – and it is much earlier than previously believed. The book reveals the two were brought together by a student of radical community organizer Saul Alinsky, whose name, it has emerged, was obscured in Obama's autobiography "Dreams from My Father." The new book, "The Manchurian President: Barack Obama's Ties to Communists, Socialists and other Anti-American Extremists," charges Obama has deep ties to an anti-American extremist nexus that has been instrumental not only in building his political career...

ABC went dark Saturday night on New York-area Cablevision systems. The static came as ABC and Cablevision were not able to come to an retransmission agreement by the midnight Saturday deadline imposed by Disney. The Alphabet's WABC-TV was in the middle of a season two off-net repeat of "Lost" -- "Three Minutes," which centers on Michael's decision to betray his fellow castaways -- when the cord was yanked. WABC replaced the feed it sends to Cablevision with a sternly-worded on-screen message: "Cablevision betrayed you again. First HGTV and Food Network, now they lost ABC 7. Enough is Enough. Go to...

WRKO 680 Boston is apparently joining WABC New York and KABC Los Angeles in dropping Coast to Coast from its lineup, though apparently for a different reason. The NYC and LA stations are picking up the new Doug McIntyre show from Citadel while WRKO will be re-running Howie Carr from 1-5 am And this latter case in Boston probably has to do with the fact that Clear Channel is launching a talk station in April on AM 1200, WXKS. Premiere radio syndicates Coast To Coast, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity--and Rush Limbaugh. No doubt Coast to Coast is heading there. Premiere/Clear...

San Gabriel Valley Tribune McIntyre's back on the air at KABC By Richard Wagoner, Radio Columnist Posted: 02/11/2010 09:34:47 PM PST Ever since Doug McIntyre was shown the door at KABC (790 AM) last year, I have received letters and e-mails almost daily asking where he is or when he will be back. McIntyre had been with KABC for years, first as the overnight host on a program called "Red Eye Radio," and most recently as the station's morning man. When he was dropped from the roster, he mentioned the possibility of resurrecting "Red Eye Radio" as a syndicated...

PREMIERE President of Content and Affiliate Relations JULIE TALBOTT responded to WABC's move to cancel "COAST TO COAST AM" by telling ALL ACCESS, "It’s shocking when a top-rated program is removed from a station. However, we’re incredibly proud that COAST TO COAST AM continues to be the most-listened-to overnight radio program in NORTH AMERICA, broadcasting live on 527 affiliates to more than three million passionate and loyal listeners each week who enjoy hearing one of the most relevant and entertaining shows in the news-talk world."

Albans/News Curtis Sliwa (above) leaves WABC on Monday and will be replaced by John Batchelor seven days a week. Whether you think Curtis Sliwa is a street-smart good guy or one of local media's all-time great self-promoters, WABC (770 AM) won't sound quite the same without him. John Batchelor, who moves into Sliwa's old 9 p.m.-1 a.m. slot starting Monday night, likes to have fun and play music. But he also takes a methodical, scholarly approach to international geopolitics, often with an emphasis on the Middle East. Compared to Sliwa, he sounds downright professorial. Having Batchelor in the late-evening...

Curtis Sliwa, for 18 years one of the most recognizable and persistent voices on WABC (770 AM), is leaving the station. WABC Tuesday announced that as of Monday, John Batchelor will begin hosting the 9 p.m.-1 a.m. weeknight slot that Sliwa had been holding down. Sliwa, also known as the founder of the Guardian Angels, confirmed Tuesday that "WABC and I were not able to agree on an extension of my contract." Concerning reports that he is talking with WNYM (970 AM), "The Apple," Sliwa said, "nothing is signed." For now, he said, he will continue to broadcast nightly from...

Early Saturday morning, 7Online.com, the website for ABC's New York affiliate WABC-TV, reported the previous night's arrest of Jason Shih, an alleged campaign worker for Governor Jon Corzine (D-NJ) charged with "possession of a controlled narcotic and paraphernalia that is used for distribution." For some reason, although the headline "Corzine campaign worker arrested" shows up in a Google News search, the page is no longer available: "We are sorry, but the URL you requested could not be found. The page you are looking for may have been renamed, moved, or deleted." A search of "Jason Shih" and "Corzine" at 7Online.com...

The last thing I want to hear during a Rush, Hannity, or Levine break is Charlie Gibson's Obama panegyrics. Even worse is Ann Compton. She is zero's real Press Secretary. She puts out more pro-Obama spin in 5 minutes than Levine can debunk in an hour. Is there any way to get them off?

Bob Grant is returning to WABC on Sundays, beginning September 13, and this has liberals outraged. Grant is 80 years old, and they still won't leave him alone. The columnists as usual only comment on things conservative hosts say, and include nothing that liberal hosts have said. http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2009/08/23/2009-08-23_tune_out_the_voice_of_hate_the_awful_bob_grant_is_back_on_the_citys_airwaves.html

New York ABC radio reporter George Weber, 47, was murdered by a young, self-described “sadomasochist” with whom he had hooked up for sex on Craigslist.com. A former homosexual, David, who has become a friend of AFTAH, says hook-ups, anonymous sex and “instant gratification” are “part and parcel of the male homosexual lifestyle.” Folks, the greatest threat of violence to homosexual men comes from … other homosexual men. The stabbing murder of WABC reporter George Weber in New York is a terrible tragedy and yet it is instructive about the perils of promiscuous “gay” life. There is simply nothing that approaches...
