It’s hilarious to me that Trump thinks people don’t just already assume he was a garbage student. What if the transcripts leak out and his image as a genius is sullied?I mean, really. The guy supports tariffs, for cripes sake. This story is classic Trump, though, in how it marries intimidation with a sense of petty absurdity that drains most (but not all) of the menace out of it. Michael Cohen, who admitted to Congress last week that he had threatened Trump’s alma maters about not releasing his records, is the living, breathing embodiment of that vibe, a cross between...

Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort is calling on the Justice Department to release transcripts of any intercepted communications he may have had with foreigners. Manafort, a longtime Republican political consultant, also called on the Justice Department’s inspector general to investigate the leak of details of secret surveillance warrants obtained by U.S. investigators. “Mr. Manafort requests that the Department of Justice release any intercepts involving him and any non-Americans so interested parties can come to the same conclusion as the DOJ — there is nothing there,” Manafort spokesman Jason Maloni said in a statement. On Monday, CNN reported that investigators...

General Michael Flynn is a hero who dedicated his life to this country. His forced resignation was nothing but a political assassination from Obama’s insiders. The mainstream media wants you to believe that Flynn had some secret relationship with Russia but that isn’t true and the intelligence community just confirmed it. After reviewing the transcripts, the FBI found NO WRONG DOING!! “The FBI reviewed intercepts of communications between the Russian ambassador to the United States and retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn — national security adviser to then-President-elect Trump — but has not found any evidence of wrongdoing or illicit...

In an interview with two Philadelphia newspapers Monday, Hillary Clinton again refused to release the transcripts to her pricy Wall Street speeches but insisted that she was the most transparent candidate for president. "Well, I can only say this: let's make sure everybody is already as transparent as I," Clinton said when asked whether her refusal to release the transcripts signaled that she had "something to hide." Clinton avoided discussing the transcripts and instead focused on the "30 years" worth of tax returns that she had released. Seeing as rival Bernie Sanders has yet to release his tax returns, Clinton...

Everybody does it,†is an excuse expected from a mischievous child, not a presidential candidate. But that is Hillary Clinton’s latest defense for making closed-door, richly-paid speeches to big banks, which many middle-class Americans still blame for their economic pain, and then refusing to release the transcripts. A televised town hall on Tuesday was at least the fourth candidate forum in which Mrs. Clinton was asked about those speeches. Again, she gave a terrible answer, saying that she would release the transcripts “if everybody does it, and that includes the Republicans.†In November, she implied that her paid talks for...

As PJM’s D.C. Editor Bridget Johnson reports, Donald Trump once again hurled a personal insult at a rival for the nomination that questions the candidate’s intelligence. He said that Jeb Bush was “not a smart person†and Marco Rubio was “foolish and stupid.†He called John McCain a “dummy.†He said that Rick Perry should “take an IQ test.â€Now he comes out and says Rand Paul is “a spoiled brat without a properly functioning brain.â€What is it with these sandbox epithets? Five year olds shout “stupid†and “dummy†at one another, not grown men seeking the most powerful office in...

The White House on Thursday hinted that President Obama could veto congressional legislation approving the Keystone XL pipeline as lawmakers in both the House and Senate were readying votes on the controversial construction project. "Our dim view of these kinds of proposals has not changed,” press secretary Josh Earnest said. Earnest reiterated that the State Department was still reviewing the controversial pipeline project, and that litigation in a Nebraska court still needed to be resolved. On Wednesday, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), facing a tough reelection effort, requested unanimous consent to proceed on a vote approving the pipeline. With nearly a...

At the height of the McCarthy era, J. Robert Oppenheimer, the government’s top atomic physicist, came under suspicion as a Soviet spy. After 19 days of secret hearings in April and May of 1954, the Atomic Energy Commission revoked his security clearance. The action brought his career to a humiliating close, and Oppenheimer, until then a hero of American science, lived out his life a broken man. But now, hundreds of newly declassified pages from the hearings suggest that Oppenheimer was anything but disloyal. Historians and nuclear experts who have studied the declassified material—roughly a tenth of the hearing transcripts—say...

President Barack Obama’s love of secrecy has, by this point, become a favorite rhetorical cudgel for the President’s opponents. And perhaps no set of documents is more coveted due to its total unavailability than the President’s college records. These documents have sparked all sorts of conspiracy theories. To be fair, Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, didn’t release his college records either. Those only became public after a leak from inside Yale University, not due to any consent on the part of the former President. All the same, Obama’s time at Columbia is filled with gaps, such as the question of...
