The University of Notre Dame has refused to give official recognition to a student group arguing that children are better off being raised by a heterosexual married couple instead of a same-sex couple. Notre Dame's Club Coordination Council recently refused to recognize the Students for Child Oriented Policy, prompting some to claim viewpoint discrimination at the Catholic academic institution. Dennis Brown, spokesperson for Notre Dame, told The Christian Post that the rejection was based on SCOP duplicating the mission of other recognized student clubs. "SCOP is one of six proposed clubs whose applications were denied this spring, and 31 percent...

he ACLU says it expects a federal judge will issue his decision Tuesday in its challenge to Pennsylvania’s ban on same-sex marriage, The civil liberties group, which is representing plaintiffs in the closely-watched case, said in a press release that it plans to hold rallies in major cities across the state, including Philadelphia, regardless of the outcome. The ACLU sued Gov. Corbett and his administration last July on behalf of 23 plaintiffs over the state's 1996 ban, which prohibits same-sex marriage in Pennsylvania and does not recognize such marriages performed elsewhere.

Would like your opinions...but consider this: Saudi Arabia has treated women and homosexuals like sub-human beings for DECADES....and the Hollywood elite has said virtually NOTHING. BUT now, suddenly they are concerned about Islamic views in these issues? I am not certain they are REALLY interested in this particular hotel....rather, I suspect they are using this as a "test case" in order to attack Christian-owned businesses that do not celebrate infanticide, abortion, or homosexuality. Am I wrong, wearing a tin foil hat?

Writing for TFP, Peter Miller reports: Officials at the University of Notre Dame revoke permission for pro-marriage table, tell young Catholics to “cease and desist” promoting natural marriage on campus. Sound Bend, Indiana: April 29, 2014 -- Young volunteers with Tradition Family Property Student Action were ordered to “cease and desist” promoting traditional marriage at the University of Notre Dame on Friday, April 25. “Permission to have a table had been granted through an officially recognized on-campus student group,” said TFP Student Action director John Ritchie. “But that permission was revoked for some odd reason. Police officers arrived soon after...

PASADENA >> Plans to build a Chick-fil-A restaurant across from Pasadena City College were put on hold this week after a divided council approved a request by Councilman Terry Tornek to revisit the restaurant chain’s request for building permits. The project, which calls for an expansion of the existing drive-thru as well as removal of two protected trees, among other changes at the former Burger King site, was approved by a hearing officer in December and granted a conditional use permit by the Board of Zoning Appeals by a 3-2 vote in March. However, Tornek requested the project be revisited...

Mozilla announced on March 24 that Eich, who had served as Chief Technology Officer for almost a decade and was a co-founder of the company, had been appointed as CEO. Following the outcry from homosexualists when it became known that Eich had supported Proposition 8, the new CEO wrote a blog post pledging his “active commitment to equality” and expressing “sorrow at having caused pain” through the Prop 8 donation. Despite the post, social media has erupted in calls for his resignation.

A line in the sand issue for Christians Currently in the US and many other countries, so-called ‘gay marriage’ is being promoted via the media. In the secular, politically correct world we live in, the reporting of this issue is rarely balanced and dissenting views are treated as marginal. For example, at the time of writing, laws opposing homosexual behavior (or at the very least, not condoning it) in countries such as Russia and Uganda have made international headlines. One supposedly apolitical radio station here in the US called NPR (National Public Radio—it is funded by donations) described them as...

With full control of the House but not the Senate or the White House, Republicans lack the ability to enact positive legislation; yet they have the power to stop bad bills. Unfortunately, GOP leaders have made it clear they are willing to pass much of the Obama/Reid agenda because they don’t want confrontation with Democrats ahead of the midterm elections. For conservatives, that pretty much leaves us with the strategy of attempting to pass good bills out of the House just for messaging purposes. With unelected federal judges and administration bureaucrats forcing gay “marriage” on sovereign states across the country,...

(AUDIO-AT-LINK)A conversation on The Roundtable convinced me to address polygamy. A judge in Utah decided that state could ban formal legal polygamy but could not ban people living in comparable arrangements without formal legal sanctions. Some people argue that legalization of polygamy follows from constitutional protection of gay and lesbian relationships. If one consensual relationship is OK, therefore so are all the others. That is a mistake. The law does not work that way. Missing from that argument is any mention of whether anyone is hurt and how. There are many ways that law takes account of injury, both constitutional...

Homosexual activists are ripping a former homosexual who deserted their ranks and married a woman. Michael Glatze was an activist promoting special rights for homosexuals for an organization called Young Gay America. He saw the truth about the lifestyle through Christ and got out of it, leaving a note on his computer screen at work that read, "Homosexuality is death and I choose life." Glatze recently married a woman and that lit a fire among activists.

A married, heterosexual gym teacher at a tony Upper West Side private school was fired because his lesbian supervisor disapproved of his “traditional family status,” the canned teacher claims in a new Manhattan lawsuit. Gregory Kenney, 50, taught gym at the Trinity School on W. 91st St. for 16 years before he was let go in June 2012. Kenney, who lives with his wife and three young children in LI, says he was a well-liked employee at the elite institution that counts Truman Capote, Ivanka Trump and Eric Schneiderman as alumni, until a gay athletic director named Pat Krieger took...
  • Should social conservatives abandon the phrase “traditional marriage”?

    10/11/2013 9:24:17 PM PDT · by Collegiate Theist · 72 replies
It seems like any time someone wishes to express their opposition to the redefinition of marriage, they start by extolling the virtues of so-called “traditional marriage”. In doing so, their intentions are undoubtedly to explain why it is that succumbing to the push for a more “inclusive” definition of marriage would be harmful to society. Their choice of words, though, may very well hinder their argument.... Five same-sex couples obtained marriage licenses Wednesday in a suburban Philadelphia county defying a state ban on such unions, but the governor's spokesman said the local officials lack the power to suspend state law. Alicia Terrizzi and Loreen Bloodgood, of Pottstown, were the only couple to marry right away, exchanging vows in a park before a minister and their two young sons. "We're not setting out to be pioneers. We don't think our family is any different than anybody else," said Terrizzi, a 45-year-old teacher. "We've been waiting a long time for this." The licenses issued Wednesday in Montgomery County...

Some people can’t seem to understand why anyone would support marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Indeed, Justice Anthony Kennedy argued last week that the only reason Congress had for passing the Defense of Marriage Act was to “disparage,” “injure,” “degrade,” “demean,” and “humiliate” others. Justice Kennedy says we’re denying dignity to people in same-sex relationships. But it is his ruling that denies dignity to those who don’t think a same-sex relationship is a marriage. His ruling denies dignity to the millions of Americans and their elected officials who have voted to pass laws that tell...

That was quick. Moments After DOMA Ruling today by the Supreme Court- Plaintiff Sandy Stier in the Prop 8 case promised to keep pushing until gay marriage is legal in all states. “We want to thank the justices for overturning DOMA. It is so, so important for us and all families. And, we thank the justices for letting us get married in California. But that’s not enough. It’s gotta go nationwide. “I became convinced that noncooperation with evil is as much a moral obligation as is cooperation with good.”– Martin Luther King Jr.The U.S. Supreme Court is expected any day to release opinions on two landmark cases (Hollingsworth v. Perry and U.S. v. Windsor) that, should the court overstep its authority, threaten great violence to the age-old institution of marriage – society’s fundamental cornerstone. Also at stake is the high court’s already fragile legitimacy.Lest there be any doubt as to where the Bible-believing Christian community stands, scores of Christian leaders and clergy – Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant alike – have released a...

A Tennessee community college professor ordered her students to wear ribbons in support of gay rights and said those who supported the traditional definition of marriage are just “uneducated bigots” who “attack homosexuals with hate,” according to a legal firm representing several of the students in the class. Students in a general psychology class at Columbia State Community College were directed by their professor to wear “Rainbow Coalition” ribbons for an entire day and express their support for the homosexual community, said Travis Barham, an attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom. Members of the Republican National Committee will gather in Los Angeles on Friday for their spring meeting and vote on a resolution to continue their opposition to same-sex marriage. The resolution is expected to pass by an overwhelming majority, according to Politico. Although the conservative party has seen some dissidents, predominant GOP leaders still believe that marriage should be defined as being between one man and one woman. A copy of the "Resolution for Marriage and Children 2013" bears a striking similarity to the 2012 Republican Party's platform regarding same-sex marriage. The resolution states that, among other things, "the Republican...

It's no secret that marriage has been in decline in America, but most people don't realize how quickly it has been crumbling. The numbers are staggering and the sea change in attitude that has gone along with them would shock previous generations of Americans. "In 1960, two-thirds (68%) of all twenty-somethings were married. In 2008, just 26% were." "To get a sense of how different attitudes were in the 1960s, perhaps this will do it. (M)arried women were asked, ‘In your opinion, do you think it is all right for a woman to have sexual relations before marriage with a...
