Indeed, as in previous states, Sanders won white voters focused on honesty, as well as those most concerned with a candidate who “cares about people like me,” by vast margins – 95-5 and 75-25 percent, respectively. Blacks overwhelmingly saw Clinton as the trustworthy candidate, Sanders not.

The outcome of who the victor will be in today's "Demcrat" POTUS Primary election in South Carolina today is important....but, no where as important as Democrat voter tunout. A quick but, early review of Democrat voter turnout is the very few, first, Caucus & Primary elections of this season show very tepid and lack of interest in voter participation, among rank & file Democrat voters. I suspect the voter turnout today will be far below expectations, even among African-Americans....who have diminishd in their admiration and trust of the Clintons. Oh....Ms. Clinton will do fine today....only she will accomplish her victory...

Among South Carolina Republicans who preferred above all else a candidate "who tells it like it is," 77 percent voted for Donald J. Trump. That is astonishing, given that Donald Trump's entire life has been an extended exercise in deception. Start with his wealth... Then there are Trump's lies about his personal life... And, now, there are Trump's political lies...

As someone who lived 27 years in East Asia, I know what a rich seam Trump is tapping into as he focuses on America’s trade disaster. For two generations already, increasingly pathetic American trade officials have turned a blind eye to the blatant barriers facing American exports in key foreign markets. One result has been a tragic roll-call of factory closures in the American heartland. Another result, as Trump has insistently pointed out, is that other nations literally laugh at the United States. They think of the U.S. government as idiotic where it is not corrupt....

When asked whether he supported South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s decision to call for the Confederate battle flag to be taken down from out front of the State Capitol building, Trump said he did. “I would take it down, yes,” the billionaire real estate mogul said. “I think they should put it in a museum and respect whatever it is you have to respect.”Then, when asked what woman he would like to see on the new $10 bill, he responded — to laughter — “My mother.”The questions came after Trump spoke outside his Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. There,...

Ted Cruz may have placed behind Marco Rubio in South Carolina but he's spinning the primary as a bigger loss for the Florida senator. Rubio was "endorsed by a very popular governor of the state, very popular senator, very popular congressman, all the establishment circled their wagons around Marco and yet he still only came in second after his campaign promised everyone they were going to win the state," Cruz said on CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday. Cruz was referring to endorsements that Rubio received from Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy. Cruz added: "You...

Washington (CNN) - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus defended his party Sunday, after exit poll results from South Carolina showed more than half of voters felt "betrayed" by the Republican Party. Priebus argued that it was not reflective of his party, but instead of more widespread anger at the federal government and politics in general. "I think that if you look at all these exit polls on both sides of the aisle, I think people are just sick and tired of politics in general, sick and tired of Washington, D.C., and I think just actually sick and tired of...

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- His own mother told him not to run, and on Saturday, Jeb Bush finally caved to her political wisdom, suspending his presidential campaign after another disappointing showing in South Carolina's primary. "The people of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken and I really respect their decision. So tonight I am suspending my campaign," he said at a post-election party in Columbia.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Speaking just six miles apart on Friday morning, Donald J. Trump and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas renewed their bitter personal feud, while their supporters echoed the candidates' language and themes - a sign that the bitterness between the two men has now seeped deeply into the feelings of voters. Mr. Trump called Mr. Cruz "the biggest liar I've ever seen," a line he has been pushing all week. Trump supporters, some of whom said they had once considered supporting the Texas senator, largely agreed with Mr. Trump's harsh assessment. "I'm very disappointed in Ted Cruz...

For months, Donald Trump's antagonists in rival campaigns, in the GOP establishment and in the punditocracy have believed the time would come, someday, when Trump would say something so outrageous, so over-the-top, so out there that the scales would finally fall from his supporters' eyes and the Trump candidacy would collapse. The South Carolina campaign, some believed, would be that time.

His campaign started out stuffed with money. By last July, Jeb Bush had raised $103 million for his super PAC, Right to Rise, an astonishing sum that seemed to foretell the most lavishly funded campaign in American history. No super PAC had ever raised so much cash so early in an election cycle. In fact, Right to Rise alone outraised all the super PACs combined at the same stage in the 2012 elections. Now, after primary elections in just three states, Bush is out. He finished sixth in the Iowa caucus, fourth in the New Hampshire primary, and now, fourth...

Newt Gingrich has a message for the GOP in Washington: Start taking Donald Trump seriously. Appearing on Fox News after Trump's Saturday win in South Carolina, the former speaker of the House argued that nobody in the Washington Republican political class should kid themselves about Trump's chances any longer. It is a huge night for Donald Trump and nobody should kid themselves. Here's a guy who seven months ago for the first time entered electoral politics, has learned at an extraordinary rate, Gingrich said, pointing to his second-place finish in Iowa and victories in New Hampshire and South Carolina. By...

An exuberant Sen. Marco Rubio declared his strong finish in the South Carolina primary Saturday signaled the GOP presidential contest had become "a three-person race," and that as a child "of the Reagan Revolution," he was "ready to assume the mantle of leadership." "Those of us who grew up when Ronald Reagan was in the White House are ready to do for the next generation what Ronald Reagan did for ours," the Florida lawmaker said. "The children of the Reagan Revolution are ready to assume the mantle of leadership." Rubio also hailed crucial supporters, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and...

February 20, 2016Ted Cruz Loses Every Single County In South Carolina Election - Including the Staunchly Evangelical Counties by sundance In August of 2015, against considerable backlash, we stood firm on a fundamental position that Senator Ted Cruz did not have a pathway, a roadmap, to victory in the 2016 GOP presidential primary.Despite the fundamentally sound reasoning for our prediction, which was entirely based on congressional district by district analytics, our position drew an immense amount of criticism and even a quick response from the Cruz campaign itself (Brian Phillips).Unfortunately, tonight’s South Carolina results vindicate a massive amount of historical...

With former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush dropping out of the Republican presidential contest and Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) finishing either second or a close third in South Carolina's primary, you're going to hear a lot about Rubio consolidating support among moderate Republicans. And maybe that's how it really will work out. In a three-way race against Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and real estate mogul Donald Trump, Rubio might be the most attractive alternative to the voters who were supporting Bush - and who can't abide Cruz's stridency or Trump's explosiveness. But don't for a second believe that Rubio is a...

Obviously, at a most basic level Trump was a winner here, and the decisiveness of his ten-point win shouldn't be minimized. He is clearly the front-runner in the race right now and he looks to have won all of South Carolina's delegates. On the other hand, it is not just attempting to paint a bright picture for the Trump alternatives to say that Trump's results showed he is still quite beatable. New Hampshire was a blowout for Trump. He beat his real competition there 35.3 to 22.3 (The combined share of Cruz and Rubio in NH) In South Carolina, things...

Sen. Ted Cruz and Ben Carson reportedly met privately in a storage closet Thursday night in Greenville to try and cool relations between the two campaigns ahead of the primary here. But the clandestine meeting allegedly did not go well. Cruz called the meeting, The Daily Beast reports, to smooth over what has been a contentious public spat with the Carson campaign ever since the Iowa caucus. Carson accused Cruz of using dirty campaign tactics after one of Cruz's staffers saw a CNN report and told voters Carson was dropping out of the race right before voting started in Iowa....
