Embattled Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg reversed a pair of his most controversial policies in writing on Friday with a new memo calling for commercial robberies committed with knives to once again be prosecuted as felonies. Bragg’s memo to staff also said that holding up a store or other business with a firearm “will be charged as a felony, whether or not the gun is operable, loaded, or a realistic imitation.” “The default in gun cases is a felony prosecution,” Bragg wrote. The moves followed widespread outrage at the soft-on-crime directives that Bragg issued to Manhattan prosecutors in a stunning...

We’ve seen a lot of problems with the supply chain leading to delays of packages and bare shelves. Joe Biden has claimed success, despite the bare shelves and despite the same number of ships backed up in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach that were stuck there when he announced that he would be formally addressing the issue last year. But ships and trucks having issues aren’t the only problem.Photojournalist John Schreiber for CBS’ LA affiliate posted an eye-opening thread about train burglaries in Los Angeles. The thread has gone viral, with the initial video gaining over 5.6 million...

This has apparently reached the point where a straw has broken the camel’s back for one California Democrat. Assemblyman Rudy Salas has thrown in the towel and recognized that this crime wave can’t be allowed to continue. With that in mind, Salas introduced a new bill that would reverse proposition 47 and reset the threshold of misdemeanor theft to its previous level of $400. But will the rest of his party back him up? A Democratic California lawmaker introduced a bill that would reverse the state’s Proposition 47, which has been blamed for the rampant shoplifting and smash-and-grab crimes plaguing...

Two local TV news outlets, WFAA and CBS11, picked up a story this week that was first reported on the Dallas Police Department’s Facebook page. On the surface, it reads like a feel-good story: On December 2, an adorable K9 named Ballentine identified a piece of carry-on luggage at Dallas Love Field Airport that contained $100,000 in cash. Police seized the money and posted a photo of the dog with stacks of cash laid out on a table. Good boy. Case closed. But not so fast. According to the reports, the money belonged to a 25-year-old woman from Chicago,...

Democratic California political leaders have remained silent on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s comment appearing to doubt the existence of smash-and-grab robberies. "We have to talk about specifics because, for example, we’re actually seeing a lot of these allegations of organized retail theft are not actually panning out," Ocasio-Cortez told The Washington Times in an interview last week. "I believe it’s a Walgreens in California cited it, but the data didn’t back it up." Fox News reached out to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press team, Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s communication’s director, Sen. Alex Padilla’s press secretary, as well as Mayor London Breed’s and Mayor...

A gang of masked goons smashed up and robbed a San Jose jewelry store Thursday afternoon, the latest smash-and-grab raid to hit a business in California. Days later, up to 40 thieves stormed into a Louis Vuitton store across from San...

In the upside-down morality of the left, it is perfectly acceptable for criminal gangs to target high-end stores free of consequences. At once ascribing poverty, immoral historical legacies, and contemporary systemic racism, we are supposed to believe that what is happening is actually a form of justice. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is no moral or humanitarian justification for the now-daily shoplifting and burglary sprees witnessed time and again in various California cities and across the country. Are the black youths hungry? Are they robbing a grocery store? Are they impoverished, thereby stealing the jewelry to sell?...
