Jay Leno's staff have become "really bitter" about what they describe as outrageous demands by Katie Couric, who will be hosting the Tonight Show on May 12th (the same day that Leno cohosts Today), the New York Post reported today (Thursday). An insider on the Leno show told the newspaper that Couric demanded that the staff book Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez or the entire cast of Friends for the show, and that when they were unsuccessful Couric became "really angry."

Clueless in the morning. Interviewing Democratic presidential candidate Bob Graham on Wednesday's Today, Katie Couric mistook an obvious Washington Post parody of Graham daily diary entries for the real thing and read several of the mock items to him as if they were what he really put down.      The MRC's Rich Noyes caught Couric's confusion in what turned out to be the only challenging question she posed to Graham during the May 7 Today interview.      Couric's softball questions, as taken down by MRC analyst Geoffrey Dickens, who reports that Couric did not correct herself later in the program....

Ban me, but have the courage to accept the truth. This War is wrong. Many innocent Iraqis have died. Many Americans have died. Iraq is in chaos. No food. No water. No power. I don't care if staged events involving a few criminals and looters make the people appear to be happy. Ask the ones who had their lives destroyed by American bombs. There are no WMDs.
