<p>BIDDEFORD, Maine - On the Friday night after Sept. 11, Richard Rhames, a vegetable farmer and liberal activist, did what he always does on Friday nights. He climbed into his battered Nissan pick-up truck and drove to a cluttered studio to host ''Voices of the Left,'' his weekly public access television program. During his show, Rhames spoke against US foreign policy in the Middle East and showed images of a devastated Iraq, which he attributed to US bombings and sanctions.</p>
