Only one Republican has made Obama squirmThis wouldn't be the first time the media missed the real story. In the wake of a split Super Tuesday, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum scored wins against each other, but it was former Speaker Newt Gingrich who single-handedly drove President Obama into panic mode. ~snip~ And then there was Newt Gingrich, the Lazarus of the presidential campaign, as the Drudge Report recently called him, ready to rise once again. While the mainstream media stayed focused on the game of checkers between Mr. Romney and Mr. Santorum, Mr. Gingrich forced President Obama into an...

Just a little humor this evening.

Rick Santorum may have won more primaries but the Republican National Committee's current delegate count shows former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has more bound delegates than Mr. Santorum in the race for the party's presidential nomination. Frontrunner Mitt Romney has earned 339 delegates to the August nominating convention in Tampa, Fla., or more than the rest of the field combined, according to a chart the RNC sent to its members on Thursday. Mr. Gingrich is second with 107 delegates, topping Mr. Santorum's 95 delegates and the 22 delegates pledged to Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. Winning the nomination will take...

A new poll has been released Thursday showing how Alabamians may vote in next week's GOP Primary. The Capital Survey Research Center did a survey of 592 likely voters in Alabama from march 5-7, 2012. Among the results, 29.9% of voters would pick Mitt Romney, 24.7% of voters pick Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum gets 20.1%, and Ron Paul has 5.6% of those polled, with 19.8% of those polled don't know or had no reply.

One of the reasons to be skeptical that Rick Santorum could win the Republican nomination is that we now have a pretty good idea of how the vote will play out from state to state — and the coalition that he is building seems short of a majority. It is not that Mr. Santorum’s delegate deficit is mathematically insurmountable. But he’s behind, and he is very unlikely to win states like New Jersey and California that either have a lot of delegates or use winner-take-all rules to award them. That might not leave enough fertile opportunities for him to gain...

I've noticed a lot of talk and a lot of hope being pinned on a brokered convention as possibly our last best hope to keep Romney from being nominated. My advice: don't bet on it. Oh sure, Romney might very well be denied enough delegates to ensure the nomination before the convention (all it probably takes is Newt or Santorum dropping out and endorsing the other) but I fail to see the possibility of him not being nominated in Tampa in such a scenario. Based on both his hard bound and total delegate lead, it seems very likely that he...

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is betting on Alabama. The former house speaker is spending a lot time here leading up to the Alabama primaries March 13. Gingrich made three stops today and sat down with FOX6 news anchor Scott Richards "one on one" tonight. They spoke about a variety of topics including the current situation with Iran and Gingrich's Republican primary election win in his home state, Georgia. Gingrich also said that, as a fellow Southernor, he will appeal to Alabama conservatives in the Alabama GOP primary next week. Since Alabama conservatives have a long...

President Obama's visit to Mt. Holly, North Carolina on Wednesday to discuss energy policy and the economy was technically not a campaign stop, but he didn't shy away from adding some politically-tinged remarks during his taxpayer-sponsored visit. "The next time you hear some politician trotting out some three-point plan for $2 gas, you let 'em know, we know better," Mr. Obama said, seemingly referencing Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich's pitch to bring gas prices down to $2.50 if he becomes president. "Tell 'em we're tired of hearing phony, election year promises that never come about." Mr. Obama toured the Daimler...

Establishment Republicans will not stop supporting liberal RINO's until we Conservatives once and for all deliver a united blow against this GOP elitist in some sort of SOLIDARITY behind one particular conservative candidate soon or else we will lose. The Day After Super Tuesday » Judson Phillips - articulates it best in this (VIDEO): http://bit.ly/xgCt6T Wake up people! The people who said Sarah Palin was not electable are the same people who say Newt is not electable. This is just BS! Remember Reagan too, lost 6 primary contest before becoming the GOP nominee in 1976, for that matter in 2008...

PELL CITY — Hundreds of people turned out Wednesday to hear presidential candidate Newt Gingrich speak. The former Speaker of the House focused on high gasoline prices and the country’s need for energy independence as he addressed more than 400 attendees at the Pell City Civic Center. “This is the first presidential candidate we’ve had come to St. Clair County,” said Freddie Turrentine, chairman of the St. Clair County Republican Party. “It is a great honor for him to put us in the mix with Huntsville, Montgomery and Birmingham.” Turrentine said due to such a large response, the event was...

Mar. 7, 2012 - Calls for Newt Gingrich to drop out of the Republican presidential race grew louder when he only scored one Super Tuesday win his home state of Georgia. At a rally in Montgomery, Ala., Wednesday, Gingrich said "we're staying in the race." (/CBS News)

20:56:20 Now I want you to imagine the debate this fall . The president was right the other day. He's so nervous about gasoline prices and energy that he's done two major speeches. I thought today, one of the most shallow and self-serving comments by a president that I've heard in a long time. He was candid in his press conference. He said, you know I’m really worried about higher gas prices because it will make it harder for me to get re-elected. I did not make this up. It's nice to know that the president once again has managed...

His delegate lead growing, Mitt Romney gently nudged his Republican opponents toward the sidelines on Wednesday and said he was on track to wrap up the presidential nomination before the party convention next summer. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich paid him no mind, vowing to fight on in a campaign marked by persistent ideological divisions. If anything, the political maneuvering intensified as the marathon pointed toward contests in five states over the next week. Romney's campaign purchased television advertising time in Alabama according to campaign sources, as it pursued a breakthrough in the party's Southern base....

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — For weeks, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have been echoes of each other, both aiming their urgent verbal fire at Mitt Romney, the man they are desperate to stop from becoming the leader of the Republican Party. But the political and geographical imperatives of two important Southern primaries next week are forcing the two men to turn on each other as they seek to demonstrate an ability to unite the party’s fickle conservative base. It is a clash that has been building for weeks as both men circled each other warily, mindful that a shot at the...

Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu, It’s been almost one year ago since I last wrote you an open letter like this. I just want to let you know that most Americans agree with your assessment on Iran and the consequences to both Israel and America if those savages procure nuclear weapons. In a peculiar way, a large number of us look to you, as opposed to the current President of the United States as our legitimate leader in these perilous times. We have much more in common since our nation was founded upon the belief that there is ONE God, the...

R- 404 S- 161 G- 105 P- 61 OMG, this is a nightmare. PLEASE GOD, TELL ME HOW I AM WRONG! Go to the RCP delegate count page. I am using their numbers, they may be off a little but not much. Print it off. Add up the number of total delegates left (bound and unbound, winner take all and proportional.) You will get 1475. It takes 1144 to win. So right now: Romney needs 740 Santorum needs 983 Gingrich needs 1039 Paul needs 1414 That means: Romney needs to win 50% of the delegates left to clinch. Santorum needs...

'I don't think that Barack Obama is really looking out for my interests as he said he would,' 26-year-old law student tells MTV News. ATLANTA — When we showed up at the pseudo-ritzy Renaissance Hotel in suburban Atlanta last night for Newt Gingrich's victory party — looking like a hot mess after 12 hours of Super Tuesday shenanigans at Georgia Tech and Georgia State — we were planning to chat with diehard young Republicans who'd been reppin' their party since they were in Reagan-themed diapers. And sure, there were plenty of GOP geeks in full Newt regalia spittin' campaign lines...

On Fox News, Randy Evans outlines Newt’s path forward and breaks down the delegate math, which shows 2/3 of delegates are still available. Brett Baier - We thought we'd have a battle of the white boards here. First to you Randy. How does Speaker Gingrich get this nomination? How do you plan to say you can have the number of delegates? Randy Evans - Well Brett, lets start with two things first is that this idea that somehow the nomination is over. That somehow nobody can get the number now or that governor Romney has it. Lets look at this...

Rick Santorum’s campaign said it’s not planning for any more GOP primary debates, while Newt Gingrich is calling for one to happen before next Tuesday’s contests. Gingrich said on Monday he planned to attend an upcoming debate in Portland, Ore., hosted by PBS. He also said he wanted there to be more debates, possibly in Mississippi and Alabama, states with upcoming primaries in which the former House Speaker is hoping to do well. Mitt Romney’s campaign wouldn’t say if the former Massachusetts governor will attend the Portland debate, and the Santorum campaign wouldn’t commit either.
