"That was heavy," Captain Michael Sack said. Possibly 40 or 50 tons heavy. Sack was guiding a Sanctuary Cruises whale watching tour from a boat just outside Moss Landing harbor on Saturday when he witnessed an incredible, dangerous situation. Tandem kayakers were paddling through a large pod of humpback whales that were gorging on krill and anchovy bait balls. One whale launched its body into a full breach, and to people watching from the boat, it appeared the whale landed on top of a man and woman who were sharing a kayak.
